My two mini's and two rescue dogs get chicken necks at least every second day without a problem, any time the chicken shop runs out of necks they are given wings, again without a problem. My standards are given carcasses and sometimes necks just as often with no problems. I work in a large vet clinic and only one vet advises against raw bones (all bones) after talking to numerous vets at work and also where I take my own dogs I have been told it is actually extreemly rare for a dog to end up with problems unless the bones are cooked.

Ok thats a good start, use the same method in the daytime after he has had a play session and is quite worn out crate him with something nice to chew on and leave him to fall asleep as soon as he wakes but before he asks to be let out, take him straight out to the toilet. I am quite lucky with multiple dogs in the house the adult dogs do alot of the house training for me LOL. I have found little dogs take longer to teach than big dogs (I guess it's because they have such tiny bladders). My oldest boy (mini) was 11months old before he was 100% trustworthy but my standard girl was 100% housetrained at 12 weeks.

I crate trained all my dogs by only ever locking them in there at night (bedtime), make sure he is quite tired and has been to the toilet and try to make it the same time every night. Again try to let him out for his toilet break at the same time everymorning, this will help him control his bladder. If he wakes you during the night for a wee take him out let him go then put him straight back in without any playtime etc. this way he learns that he can only ask to come out for one thing. I don't feed my dogs meals in their crates (I prefer to teach them to all eat together) but if you need to crate him at times during the day make sure he's worn out first and then give him a bone or chewy treat to keep him occupied (this is what I do if I need to cage my dogs at work). Using these methods (even with adult dogs) I have found it usually only takes a few days at the most before they are happy and not worried to be shut in a crate.

I know what you are going through we wen't through the same thing with our standard puppy recently, within days of arriving he would mouth and jump all over my son (a shock to me because none of my others were or are like that) and chase him as soon as he ran but we put him in his place straight away. It took about 4 weeks to stop the behaviour all together, at first we taught him it was unnaceptable, then if he behaved innapropriately I would would scruff him and give him a light shake and put him in his crate for 10mins (locking him outside was no good because he still had too much freedom so not a great punisnment) in a position where he could see everyone else still playing. Now at 5 months old he is very gentle with my son and does not bite, chase or jump on him. If he does get a bit silly with guests or the small dogs all we have to do is say Uhh Uhh and he stops immediately. You seriously need to do something with your dog now apart from him being so big puppy teeth are so sharp they can do a lot of damage very easily, if he is drawing blood you are not over reacting even if it's not intentional.

Best Shampoo For General Use On Market
Rascalmyshadow replied to Doghouse's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm another Fido's fan, I wash all my customers dogs in it (and my own ) and so many of them come back and tell me how they love the smell and how shiny their dogs are. It is also a lot easier to wash in and out than some of the other products. If you are thinking of using Aloveen check the smell first (I hate the smell), it is quite expensive, a lot harder to rinse out properly and I have seen many dogs have a bad reaction to it over time (this is of course my own experience) I know a lot of other people love it. -
Are you very sure when your bathing him that the shampoo is being rinsed off 100%, even medicated shampoo if not washed off properly will cause the symptoms you are describing.

Sounds like very normal puppy behaviour if they are not drawing blood then let them sort it out, they will probably be starting to work out who's boss. I would like to know why you would get two puppies if you can't afford to desex them especially if you are thinking of wasting money on citronella collars etc. If you are having trouble toilet training them now you are going to end up with a lot of problems later if you think the answer is to lock them outside, two adult intact males with no proper toilet training are likely to cock their legs on anything and everything inside the house everytime you let them in. The best advice has already been given find a good dog trainer/obedience class and get as much information/help as possible. Good luck hope it works out.

Sorry guys I couldn't come to exhausted after 2 days of Christmas and boxing day sales. Will anyone be going next Tuesday night?? -
Are you sure your groomer is rinsing him properly when he's being bathed. If he is not rinsed properly it can cause severe itching with no other signs until down the track when the skin starts to finally react and either become inflamed or get dandruff.

Lozzie thanks I don't feel as bad about bringing her now  . Shoemonster thats great news I won't have to excuse myself and leave in a hurry, these are the only times I wish I was Male. The weather is not looking so good for Tuesday, I guess it will be cancelled if it's raining, typical Melbourne. -

Can any one tell me if KCC has toilets? I know it's a strange question but being pregnant I can only wait so long -
georgiahand- that is one of my cats I also have a big black and white moggie, my toy was great with the cats and so are the two mini's, the standards are ok unless the cats run and then they will chase although my cats aren't silly enough to run. I forgot the other upside to poodles is they don't get a doggie smell.

Stick with a toy poodle, our first was a silver toy and he was the smartest, cleanest, friendly dog he was not a yapper at all and all he wanted to do was be by our side. His favourite thing was going for car rides. All of our poodles loved/love to play fetch and swim at the beach. The best thing about them you can change their looks anytime you want, my partner was also a bit funny about having the small dogs now his girl is the little black one on the end of my signature (as long as I don't clip her really short then she's mine until the hair grows back  ).

Are you sure? As long as you know what your all in for  I'll probably look really stupid in amongst all the well behaved dogs she'll be carrying on like a mad woman. Your Eddie is almost idetical to the first staffy I fell in love with 11 years ago, his name was Dallas and he would wait for his owner to go to work then escape and come to our house and spend the whole day playing with our poodles, eventually the owner would stop at our house everyday on his way home to pick him up. If I can find his photo's i'll bring them to show you. -

don't worry it was fine I only wish Bosun wasn't so scared so I could have given him a pat or two, he has one of those adorable faces that makes you want to squish him. Would you ming giving me the details of his breeder, he is a stunning boy and I have a friend who is thinking of getting a staffy in the future. -

Don't worry I haven't been scared off thankyou everyone Bosun had a great time, he especially loved the treats that he wasn't given . As soon as we got home he harrased the other dogs, so much for being tired. Everyones dogs are beautiful and they all had great manners, ReXy sorry your gorgeous boy was the only one Bosun didn't like, I think he was too intimidated hopefully that will change as he gets older. Would anyone mind if Dallas came with us in the future I would love to see if we can get her to improve, if she plays up too much i'll take her home. If anything gets organised for boxing day count me in. -
Edited cause I somehow posted twice.

Your biggest problem is having him on the floor, if you haven't got a grooming table try getting a rubber mat(the ones that are used inside baths) and sticking it to your dining table. Use as little restraint as possible as this will just make him want to fight against you, if he's in the sitting or standing position have him either side on or facing you with one hand on his chest (just under his throat) and use the other hand to brush. When he's being good talk to him in a low soft voice and as soon as he goes to move or play up just say uggh in a deeper harsher voice and then go back to what you were doing. If he's so worried and he is going to a professional groomer I would be making sure they are not being too rough or hard on him. Hope this all makes sense, this is the way I deal with puppies and naughty dogs when i'm grooming at work.

Ok thanks for the info, I think i'll just wait untill i'm over the pregnancy and go back to ADT. Once I get to the grounds where do I go to meet everyone? Do the dogs get to play off leash?
