Campaign To Allow Dogs In More Public Places
Rascalmyshadow replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
I disagree, I didn't get my licence until I was 26 so for 10years I train travelled with my dogs. I always took 1-2 with me to work and that was generally in peak hour, I travelled from Seaford to Toorak, Moorabbin and Sandringham (partial bus trip) and never had an issue, the dogs were raised from day one to be social and relaxed around the noise and people, it gave the dogs exercise and mental stimulation as well as being a great conversation starter, I chatted to many people on the trains because of my dogs especially the ones that were disabled. The ability to have them with me constantly was the reason I got up and went to work everyday. -
Campaign To Allow Dogs In More Public Places

If dogs were actually allowed most places and those that did the wrong thing were penalised most of the issues we see now would slowly decrease and eventually people would start to become more responsible and dogs would be less problematic. -

Yep agree 100%, 20 years ago when we didn't have the leash laws, dogs were allowed on the beaches, they could travel on the trains and most shops without food would let them come in, there wasn't nearly as many problems. I have experienced it with my own dogs, back then all our dogs were pretty much bombproof now this generation are completely different mostly from lack of exposure. My husbands family are Austrian and over there dogs are allowed everywhere including many restaurants there's rarely problems. -

Why Does Our Little Lunatic Not
Rascalmyshadow replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
They definitely enjoyed having babies around, they raised a couple of clutches together, nested in the same box and would take turns being mums to all of them. We haven't got any chooks at the moment had a rough end to my pregnancy and a lot of issues after the birth so I had to give up my chooks and bunnies I just couldn't manage everybody, I really miss them all. -
Why Does Our Little Lunatic Not

I see my ex chooky girls have friends, how are they all going? Oh and the photos of your babies are gorgeous. I think our Chloe digs on the couch for attention from both us and the other dogs, she'll do it then look around to see who's watching. -
Our youngest girl is a typical little terror (I mean terrier) has a really bad habit of trying to dig to China on the couches. We have a large backyard with plenty of places to dig but no she would rather dig holes in the blankets and cushions on the couches, if you tell her to stop she rolls on her side and dogs your leg instead. Oh and sometimes she likes to dig in her water bowl in the kitchen as well. Anyone else's dogs dig in weird places.

Has anyone used this product it sounds ideal for our lot as its weight range covers all 5 of our dogs including the 1.8kg chihuahua. Also it advertises no bad smell which is the one thing I can't stand about the spot on products. Any feedback, info etc would be much appreciated.

Cost Of Teeth Scale And Polish
Rascalmyshadow replied to Bow Wow's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Around here (vic) between the city and mornington peninsula a few vets that would be enough but most are closer to $500, which IMO is a rip off. -
If she's a dark colour I would go with Inky but if she's light I would go with Secret.

What Temp Do You Rug Your Dog Up?
Rascalmyshadow replied to Two Best Dogs!'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Four of our dogs I don't worry too much they all have enough coat although I will occasionally put a jumper on Astro the pom x chi if its a really cold morning and he's shivering. Claudia is a different story being a short haired chihuahua she feels the cold bad so anything under 18 degrees and I put the heater on, I've tried puting her in jumpers/ jackets but she pulls them all off. -
Somehow I had missed your post these look really good, we might just have to change around the whole backyard. Our biggest problem is the entire one side of our yard has huge mature trees on it that we don't want to lose the other side also has a couple, we also have a shed (concrete floor) raised veggie patch, large aviary (has a decked floor)as well as our decking and patio. The centre of the yard is slightly raised and is all grass with the pathway going all the way around it. Even though its a big yard the way it's set up its hard to change around especially for such a large structure.

The house went 'under offer' the following day so we missed out. At this stage my husband has agreed that we can do an extension within two years since he really doesn't want to move, my car is paid off at the end of this year so that will free up some cash. It won't give us an extra bedroom but it will give us some more living space.

The Dogit bowls are good (never knew the brand name) we had them for our big dogs, switched over to Rogz and Gummi pets for the little dogs, they are exactly the same but with cute patterns/pictures.

Groomer Questions - How To Find One To Trust
Rascalmyshadow replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would ring around and get a feel for the groomer find someone that is accommodating, personally I would stay away from mobiles. Ask if you can wait around but out of your dogs eyesight, some dogs behave ok with their owners around but majority don't, it can make doing them much more difficult and potentially a dangerous situation, it is also confusing for a dog to have to listen to an unfamiliar person while their owner is there. -
Have a look at the Rogz and Gummi Pets bowls, they have a removeable stainless steel insert with a tough melamine shell, there is some really nice designs. All our dogs have these, they are non slip, easy to clean and last for years.

Unfortunately my friends dog was found dead on Eastlink this morning, they have collected her little body. They are both devastated. RIP poor girl.

Bunnings Compost Bin How To Support It?
Rascalmyshadow replied to spice_1's topic in General Dog Discussion
We joined the panels with cable ties, didn't find our dogs moved it. -
Is that seriously BOB those dogs look deformed, nothing like the GSD's I grew up with. Are these judges and breeders blind?

This is very positive. Have you started looking for another property yet? Maybe just start researching councils which don’t have restrictions and look for properties in those areas? You say you have managed a multi-dog household for 20 years, so there is your precedence which confirms your abilities. No reason why it can’t continue :) :) We have had a multi dog permit for 10-13 years, before that registration wasn't compulsory so we never had a permit. I have found a much larger property under the same council but in a different area, I am going to arrange an inspection ASAP. Spoke with the council and we will need to reapply for the permit but because we've never had a complaint, the dogs spend most of their time inside and we've had a permit for so long we hopefully should be ok. Just hope the house is ok since it's quite old.

The bank would have no problem lending us the money but paying it back is the problem. We are also in a little court and there is restrictions on extending up. If we sell move we will get a house (and possibly block) twice the size and have a smaller home loan to pay back.

Unfortunately as far as I know we are not allowed to add another story, also can't afford it. Selling and buying again is our best option because of the amount of equity we have in this house, it's almost tripled in value since we bought it.
