Naomi - I just about ordered your bag!! but am also thinking of these combinations as well - and need all your help... which combination (with brown canvas and strap) (I like muted colours so quite like the first combination but wonder if it will be too dark?) or or

also needing to ask.... has anyone found a funky camera backpack? I am going to get a medium porteen bag for my essentials. (Love them, thanks for the thread). I was looking at the larger bags but the dimensions are huge and I don't reckon I could carry that across my shoulder. (Couldn't handle a messenger bag for my laptop - had to switch to a backpack). Thinking a backpack as well would have me pretty well covered.

another recommendation for Matthew.

I didn't think they were open today - that is very good! so the update would be the only day they are closed is Christmas Day.

piper - what camera do you have? do you have the 7D? I love these bags, but am thinking I might get the larger one. Not sure

it ought to be ok - they are shippped from Clayton according to that add,,,,, I like that the post look like they are rivetted top and bottom. They are very tall - don't think they'd fit in my car.

Here We Go Again, I'm Not A Professional, But I Have A Question

I have had this issue too. I have taken shots at dog shows, that I have watermarked and put on FB - people then ask for a full resolution copy of that image for free. They end up on DOL or in ads in Dog News etc. I get a little bit cranky - but in the dog world, politically, I think I would be stupid to complain. I, also would like to work out what to do about this in the future. -
marion small animal hospital - not that far from you - straight down daws road, then up marion road a little way. They are open until 8pm every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day. Dion Humbler is excellent. Nick Mahle as well is good.

on increased exercise, and less food since her pregnancy ended. Definitely not being cosseted. And hasn't been. Will take away her toys though. She was progesterone supplemented throughout her pregnancy - and I know that coming off progesterone in humans causes depression. Suspect it may be the same for dogs. Ellz - her pregnancy loss is a long story - she has been extensively tested (including genetics and pathology being sent to the US) - with no clear answers. She has no genetic issues nor health issues that would have caused the problems. Reproductive specialists here can not say why she has problems. Wont be breeding her again. edited: - meant to add - kept her quarantined in the last stages of her pregnancy - wasn't taking any risks. She was then kept away from other dogs for the first 4 weeks after her pregnancy whilst we got pathology back as we didn't want to risk other dogs catching anything she may have had whilst we did extra tests. She has missed other dog company and suspect this might have been a contributing factor. She is much better now that she is out mixing with other dogs and back to her normal training routines etc. Just the odd occasion of carrying around a toy.

Saw this in Adelaide at the last Royal - I didn't think it was allowed. checking the adelaide Royal regulations for benches.... A display card, not exceeding 19 cm x 11 cm, showing the dog’s name, its breeder and/or exhibitor, may be placed over each exhibit. would mean that the sash style isn't allowed at Adelaide - (and yet people did it.....some of those sashes were way outside the 19cm length and 11cm wide)

just wondering how long it takes a bitch to get over losing a litter. I thought my girl was getting better. She spent the first two weeks after her puppies were born dead by caesarean carrying around her toys, putting them on her bed, licking them and trying to feed them. After this, she stopped doing it all the time - just every now and then. It is now 6 weeks today and she picked up one of her toys again tonight, carried it around for awhile crying and then put it on her bed and licked it. Anyone have experience with this? She did this when she lost the litter before (at 7.5 weeks), but the behaviour stopped completely after 3 weeks.

didn't get in soon enough - but I reckon a shetland sheepdog would also suit your needs. Friend of mine has a Keeshond and shelties loves both breeds.
-
you'd be pretty pissed off, I would imagine, if you were the RUBOB in a breed that had the BOB disqualified.

I paid $50 for both dogs I had microchipped. Quite a while ago. Both in Adelaide. (Different vets) I thought it was now mandatory in SA to be microchipped? Or is it just registered breeders that have to microchip before registration (and therefore sale)?

Feel Like Slapping Your Forehead?

just a bit OT - but I thought White Sheps were now a recognised breed - saw one being exhibited in Adelaide earlier this year - White Swiss Shepherd..... or are they a different breed to the white shepherds you are talking about? Also - long coated german shepherds are also now a recognised variety. We had both being exhibited at Adelaide Hills show this year. -
This... and just to add - If the bitch has conceived, progesterone levels will stay high to sustain the pregnancy. If she hasn't, the levels will drop - so progesterone testing is one way of making sure. you can also check using swabs and checking the epipheral cells under a microscope to check the end of season and the start of diestrus. I have done this and my girl ovulated on day 11 (prog tested). She reached diestrus on day 21. She was mated on 11 and 13. She fell pregnant. She cycled as she normally would. She didn't come out of season more quickly. If you are asking that if a bitch is mated, it means her season has ended and you can put her back with other dogs - the answer is no.... they stay in season after they have been mated The eggs inside the bitch all fertilize at the same time - even if there are sperm in there from different matings and even different dogs. If she was mated before fertilization, then she can still fall pregnant to another mating, even by a different dog.

was thinking of coming this year - but with this show being a little bit later and school holidays being a week earlier.... cant go

shelties second to last on - that makes 4 years in a row either last on or second last on..... doesn't seem fair really....

All evidence to the contrary at the herding trials in this state last year with a few GSDs gaining their titles (that are show dogs as well).

I noticed there was a change of judge for these shows on the front page of the dogsvic website, but because I'm not in Vic, I can't log in and access the details. Can someone fill me in? Thanks

And then there are examples like my friend who paid double the price that my breed costs, for a "cross-bred" of one of the very very popular "new" breeds, that now has luxating patellas and is about to cost her a fortune.... the vet you're talking about would probably be very happy about that. Showing should be about making sure that the breed conforms to the standard and is staying consistent - so a sheltie is always a sheltie. In the working dog group, all the standards say that the dog has to be fit for work. Poor conformation is not going to win in the ring. Backyard sheltie breeders who cross the breed with toy breeds, or put two merles together because "they are there" are the issue - not the show ring dogs.

Show dogs can be kept in full coat and fully exercised, you simply do not allow them to run wild in the bush or through burrs, or pull each other around by the coat in play or be infested in fleas. Coats can be wrapped, top knots tied up, coats conditioned. It takes a lot of dedication on the part of the owner to keep a coated breed in show condition. It does not mean they are not allowed to be dogs. A couple of hours on the beach and my afghan would go home to a bath and conditioning treatment, or the salt sand left in the coat would damage it just like it does our hair. Four months of beach and swimming whilst I was pregnant and unwell and her coat looked pretty tatty at the end. All my show dogs have had free exercise, swimming, running, playing at the beach, but once home you had to put in the hard yards. They could not play in the scrub where bushes would pull at the coat and burrs and grass seeds ruin it, but they played long and hard in safe areas. Many coated breeds are used for hunting and work, but they do not keep the big coats we see on show dogs because it is damaged and certainly not maintained the way a show coat is. My double-coated show dog gets to play - even during show season. And she loves it. She has certainly not lost the instinct for which she is bred. We showed 3 days after this herding lesson. A bath and a groom and she was set to go. Coat is looked after with a high quality diet and good shampoo. I don't use a lot of product in her coat to get her ready to show... Her being healthy, active and happy are reflected in her healthy coat. She still gets to play as well, like any dog would.

except that I would like to use my other lenses too - and they are canon...
