OOOoooo sooooo cute chopperlodge!!! our babies have the same birthday remembering!!! lol - my guys are growing fast also - must get some pics of them on her when they decide to stay still!!! That little boy with the white spot on his back has really lightened up - he was very dark before - or am I mistaken ?? They look really lovely - you must be one proud grandma!!!
-
also I have thought of teething and possibly drawing blood at the nipple - no visible signs of cuts etc on nipples - and checked pups teeth development - can see some slight signs of the teeth budding - but thats all??

Hello just wondering what I should make of the following? Puppies are 3 weeks old and are healthy, growing fast and always full bellied - mum has been doing a great job for the past three weeks! Over the last couple of days I have been wondering if the milk is drying up? pups seem to be fighting for milk and seem unsatisfied! So have been topping them up with biolac! I have just noticed today that the pups faces - around the mouth - after a feed is stained with diluted blood and milk (its not a lot but it is noticeable on the white faces)?? I have never heard of this before! My girl has at one point had a lump develop in one of her breasts but that was during the first week and I managed to massage it out while applying cool and warm packs on there and have not had any problems or signs of mastitis since? There are no signs now of lumps, nor any redness or swelling or feeling hot?? I am awaiting my vet to call back, but thought I would ask the question here in the mean time! Thank you in advance.

LOL Ellz - :D I love how you write who was more surprised!!! lol - I can just imagine the minutes after the "moment" - you, your boy and girl standing there dumb foundered with disbelief!!!! :D Anyway on with my story - My boy was a "virgin" and about 16 months old and same kind of scenario - never knew what a "female" was as he was my first pom and he lived with me up until then. Now we have our own girls and I know when they are in season as he will disappear and not want to play ball with me His loss of virginity was a good year and a half ago - lol - and at the time he just played with the girl and I was getting worried that 'time was ticking by' and she was nearing the end of her cycle, having her discharge already changed to a light straw colour suggesting she is close to ready (breeder of girl did not do prog test) and still nothing was happening ..... I gave it a few more days and noticed the girl start to back up to him a few times and finally it just clicked in his mind and PRESTO! deed was done!!! I agree with everyone else, girl does not sound like she is ready - Is this girl been bred before or inexperienced as well??

Gosh this month is a sad ending for the year of 2009! I wish anyone else expecting litters all the very best and may you have safe uncomplicated delivery of happy healthy babies and Mum also! I am so sorry to hear all the sad stories to those not so lucky!!! Sorry to hear your news Yarrowfell - I hope the little girl is strong and continues to thrive for you, and new Mum recovers quickly! Update on my 3 boys - all doing well and growing fast - all their little eyes have opened over the last few days - but all are open now! Mum is doing fantastic - recovered very quickly from her op - by day 2 you would never have known - we get her stitches out tomorrow! And well what can I say, she is a fantastic Mum.

I agree with everyone above! I would love to be kept update with my puppies - pet or show prospects - seeing my pups grow gives me something to work off with future matings, and seeing as though I would have put my heart and soul into it and not to mention all the hard earned money into planning and providing, it does not take 5 mins to send a photo and a quick message after all your breeder has spent years perfecting her lines and breeding, the endless money spent, there is a lot of sacrifice a breeder undertakes for being a breeder not to mention what everyone else had said that is involved in getting one litter on the ground. Most of the time a puppies price covers sh!t all of what a breeder has outlaid for that puppy, the litter, the mother - God my litter that I have just recently had cost me above and beyond $2,500 so far on vet bills, c-section and stud fees and I am not including the time I have taken off work unpaid, the sleepless nights, the worry, the food, the equipment (whelping necessities), and what is to come - registering puppy, vaccinating, microchipping, worming, flea treatment, vet checks etc etc the list goes on...... I only have the 3 pups so I wont be making any of that back and I never intended to either. You have been lucky to have a breeder entrust you and to have a purebred on main papers - no wonder they want to know how they are going! What else do you expect. Most people would love to know that with buying a purebred pup from a registered breeder that they not only get a lovely puppy, but they also get a breeders friendship who will offer help, advise and support throughout the life of the pup... not going to say much more as it has been said.....

LMWS I just do not know what to say, I am just numb by the thought of what you must be going through - I can not begin to think of what devastation you must be feeling right now - to loose puppies is one thing and is just as devastating, but it is something we all expect bringing pups into the world and it passes easier as you have yet to grow attached to them and bond, but to loose a girl who you have had for 'x' amount of time and watched grow and you yourself bond with it is just the worse kind of thing to happen to anyone - and so unexpected is even more terrible as you are just unprepared for it! Put these two scenarios together to loose pups and mum, I really do not know how I would cope - I really feel for you and I say that in all honestly!!! Again I just can not bring words out of my mouth - all I can say is that I am thinking of you, your girl and her babies, and I hope that with all that has happened that the last surviving bubs thrive and grow to be beautiful happy healthy adults and may they be a legacy to your girl and those that did not make it! I am so sorry for your loss! We will all be thinking of you. Kindest Regards, Jessica R.I.P Sugar and her babies

Hello, I have a 8 month old Pomeranian. I also have 3 others who are all relatively quiet unless I excite them or when I get home they do bark and cry a little out of excitement of seeing me - but most of the day and night they are quite as can be! My newest edition is 8 months old as mentioned above - I bought her from a different breeder from the other 3, and as far as training goes she is very smart and is fully trained for show - and knows all the basic commands. The last couple of months she has taken to barking! Firstly it started off every time I got home which was triggered from the others, and I was quick to act on this as usually my 3 will shut up when asked as this was how I trained them making it clear to them that I do not tolerate barking, as its important to me to keep the peace with the neighbours. But the same training I have applied with this girl and it took her a long while to shut up! and just sets off barking with anything! It just seems to be getting worse, she barks at everything and anything day and nights and it is driving me mental. I can't see her being bored or not stimulated enough as she is never alone and has the other 3 as company and playmates, they all have plenty of toys left out for them and a nice big yard to run around in and they all get walked and all get short sessions of training followed by play time - this routine is mixed up a little with different things, toys and treats or destinations like dog parks, beaches etc - all in all I do the very best I can to keep them happy and most importantly the neigbours happy! Things that trigger her off - the neighbours back gate into their yard runs along our property boundary so every time someone opens and walks in she sets off! Hearing people out the front, car doors closing out the front, as for anything else I can't hear but she will still bark at something?? So I just want to hear peoples advice as to how I should try and revert this behavior as I feel me yelling and screaming is not getting anywhere anymore and I am no trainer for such behavioral issues, so would really appreciate some sort of advise. Thank you in advance. Jess.

Yeah, she is very petite...and quite the favourite with the kids. That pup is one of the males, and is very interesting. I was stoked when I had 5 females, but everytime I look at them, I keep getting drawn to that coloured male. Looks like I may end up keeping a couple yah I do like him - he looks lovely - I am sure he will look nice among my lot - parti poms and a parti bully!! lol oh well, I guess you have some time to decide - a girl to retain would be equally nice - but maybe he will be nice to show with those sort of eye catching markings! you should call him tattoo, with a registered name with tattoo in it!!! sorry I love thinking up names

I was just about to go to bed - but came on here to see what news of Scarlet!! I will sleep better now knowing she is home and all is looking promising!! all the best and good news to hear she is home with her babies! jess

everyone said that about my girl - she was all over the place too - one day she drop to 36.4 then she go up to 37.4 and then down and up and down - I just gave up - a few breeders told me not to bother as some time temp does not always work??? One breeder metioned to watch her pee puddles....so I just did that, I ended up just watching my girls urinating patterns, when they became more frequent and noticed the pee puddles getting smaller and smaller I knew it was time - she also began panting too.... just a little bit of my experience with this litter and temp monitoring!!! did not work for me at all - mind you my girl went against most things, she even ate a big meal just before she went into labor - what works for some does not always work for others I suppose?
-
wow she is small in comparison!!! but hopefully she is a fighter! and will start gaining weight and growing!! she is cute though!!! How interesting is the dark pup with the white patch on his lower back - I like the look of that one! very groovy markings! you could have fun working out names for him/her!

maybe the vomiting after the ops have pulled some stitches free and the pressure on the others have come free as well - Just a thought as it seems as though she is doing nothing to put strain on her wound and stitches??? My girl was the same the night we brought her home - we had to feed her small amounts of food at a time! I agree with everything chopperlodge has said and I could not have said it any better way! Its not your fault, if you had a crystal ball and could see what was ahead of you I know you would not have bred her - But unfortunately this is some of the obstacles we face as breeders and what does happen, you end up learning from it. Its still early days and scarlet will have a well earned rest then you can start thinking and researching and asking questions. Maybe there is a lovely little puppy there that you can retain to move forward with?? My thoughts are with you, I am sorry to hear this is all happening! Keep us posted! Chopperlodge thank you for the advise with mastitis - Since having my girl home I have been putting the weakest pup on it because it is the only one he will latch onto without falling off - so maybe I have caused the problem as I have been moving the other pups around to use all of the teats to try and prevent this as well as apparently it helps with eclampsia?? not sure it that is right but I heard it from somewhere - anyway I will change the routine and do as you have mentioned - thank you very much !!
-
oh dear - that is not sounding nice at all - I would have freaked completely!! I hope they do all they can this time to prevent anything else like this happening and to prevent further damage and infection!! I really feel for you - that is so scary! Are they having to put her under and stitching everything - including the internal ones?? maybe they have broken free putting more pressure on the exterior ones???? I hope everything works out from now on wards - your poor girl!!!!! Let us know how you and your girl is going? thinking of you during this time!!! Jess p.s: Also I think my girl is getting Mastitis? is that the correct term?? Anyway I noticed on one of her breast it is a little more inflamed, not so much red but it has a lumpy bump behind the teat. Its strange as obviously my girl had a c-section so she is on a course of antibiotics already??? What are everyones thoughts - its different and larger looking then the others and has a distinct bump there which you can obviously feel as well compared to the others. I am going to ring my vet now anyway, but just thought I would ask while I am here!

All the best with it all - may you have a safe delivery of puppies! Don't know where the whelping fairy is - she missed both Chopperlodge and I on saturday night and Sunday??? The whelping fairy was pretty busy earlier in the week Wed/Thur, so maybe she had a few days off. Hopefully for everyone expecting litters soon, she is well rested and back on task. LOL lol - well had things not gone as good I would be writing a complaint to her boss - But seeing as though everything is going fine I feel more then content with everything - Hopefully she wont miss us next time I will pre-book if I have to wishing everyone all the best with their coming litters!

Thank goodness you were there chopperlodge! We have this sort of problem all the time with poms, it might not be the same as your case but we get blood sugar drops in our pups - juvenile hypoglycemia - it occurs with the very small puppies, ones that are really active as well! This can continue right up till they are 6 months and then they kind of grow out of it. I always have honey on hand in case, but have never heard much about this happening with very young pups still feeding on mum, so I can not really tell you much about my experiences? - The only case I had was a 9 week old pup - at first I thought he had a tick, he was very wobbly on his feet, very quite, and got quite limp - the penny dropped and I quickly gave him some honey followed by a spoon of food, and watch him bounce back within half an hour - it took a couple of repeated goes to get him back to his old self but he is all good now and a happy healthy adult. Going blue and stiff so quickly is a bit scary - I would keep a real close eye on her and the rest, I would have thought a sugar drop would have been a slower progressing thing then a sudden thing like that - but like I said I have never witness a young young pup such as yours have a drop! Anyway I hope all is ok now and no more problems arise. Jess.

Gucci is fantastic - eating well, doing everything well - would not know she had a c-section! She was a little groggy when we got her home, I had to assist with 3 or so feeds, but started to accept me making her lay and allowing them to feed, she would not clean them so would not stimulate them to go - so I have been doing most and so far all has gone well. I had the pups in a separate box with heat pad as obviously I wanted to give Gucci some time to rest and recover and I was worried about leaving them with her until I knew she was going t accept them. went to bed - but had alarm to get up to fed and check on everything - Gucci kept me awake most of the night crying! She wants her pups... So early this morning I have re-arranged everything and now mum and pups are together - what bliss I can have a little break now She is the most fantastic mother! considering she is a first time mum and had to have a c-section so would not know where these little bubs came from!! hehe! all is good, just need to get the milk bar happening, as gucci does not have much, we thought this before hand but still not much, they are feeding off her, but they are on there a fair while so I assume there is not much coming out - thank you BB for your suggestions, will give it a go! My little ones weighed 145grms for the big one, and 119 and 110 - lol
-
ooohh look at all the little bubba's - looks like some of mine got lost and mingled with yours - lol well done again on your beautiful litter - you must be such a proud mum!!!
-
hello again! thank you everyone for thinking of me and my girl and of course the little blobs! Everyone is doing great - mum is feeding bubs and they seem to be doing fine! Mum has not got much milk so having to do regular feeds and possibly try bottle feeding a little bit depending on if they don't seem to settle - they are crying every now and then, but they seem to stay feeding on her for a while so hopefully they are getting something. I would love to know everyones thoughts on these colours. I know there is definitely an orange and white there - but as for the two darker pups, I am wondering if they are chocs?? they also have tan markings so may be tri-colours choc & tan parti's - Chocs are pretty rare in OZ so I am inexperience to know whether these are chocs right now until they get their pigment as right now they are pink. Both mum and dad carry choc and father was black & tan and mum also carries the & tan gene??? hope you enjoy
