  1. Hello Showdog, Yes I sold pup as pet with a verbal agreement to desex at/or around 6 months - they did at this time show interest in the showing, but had no experience etc.... I did say once puppy reaches 6 months I will access him - I understand that if there are any problems, defects such as bad bite, or just not up to scratch to be moved up to main register for show, then he will not be moved up - I have seen photos of him and I am quite impress, but without going over him in the flesh the decision is yet to be made. I have asked them to meet up with me next time I am out at a show, so that I can run through everything with them... jess
  2. Thank you so much Pulilover - you have answered my question and eased my mind! I was not sure it could be done after the dog was transferred into the new owners name - I did understand that I could make changes to the pup being moved over to main registration but did not know whether I could go co-owners as to monitor stud duties - or rather restrict this for now!!! So glad you understand my craziness - lol - I didn't want to come across selfish with my lines or should I say lack there of - hehe - I do very much agree to sharing out the lines as I believe in working together for the betterment of the breed - but unfortunately it seems lately there are a few too many corrupt breeders within my breed and unfortunately a lot of them seem to live quite close by - I have already had one try and con an owner of a pom I sold (which is on limited) into allowing him/her to use him to stud over their girls - all because I refused to sell to unethical breeders, so they think they can go through the back door and then falsify litter registration of puppies that should not be registered because the boy is on limited - most just want the colour so that they can profit off selling "rare exotic coloured poms" anyway enough said - Hence the reason I am now paranoid :D lol Thank you very much again - really appreciate it!
  3. Fantastic news for you - all the very best to your girl and her unborn babies I hope I have done the right thing above - let me know if there is any problems with what I have written? Jess xo
  4. Lets see who else is expecting litters during this chilly yet cheerful month of winter - it is of course Christmas in July and it appears this is a trend I am following as my last litter was in christmas of december - lol - I have been waiting for someone to start up the july litters, so I hope there are a few of us out there - so lets hear those of you who are expecting some exciting litters for the month of July!!!! I did a mating on the first week of May with my black parti factored girl and my black and white parti boy - She was scanned today and confirmed pregnant so I am just over the moon! :D PLANNED LITTERS, CONFIRMATION WITH APPROX DUE DATES----------- -AUSVARG - Finnish Lapphund - CONFIRMED - born 5th of July - 3 Boys & 3 girls -BORDACOLLIES4ME - Border Collies - CONFIRMED - born 5th of July - 3 Boys & 6 girls -PARTIPAWS - pomeranians - CONFIRMED - born 5th of July - 2 Boys -JE2910 - Labradors - CONFIRMED - due 9th of July - Sad news page 5 RIP little puppies -REDKIDSMUM - Toy Poodles - CONFIRMED -born 9th of July - 3 Boys -NATZBRATZ - Chihuahuas - 2 litters - CONFIRMED - born 9th of July - 1 Boy & 1 girl -CHOPPERLODGE - Bull Terriers - CONFIRMED - born 13th of July - 1 Boy -MYSQL - Australian Shepherd - CONFIRMED - born 17th of July - 3 Boys & 3 girls -YYSUR - Havanese - CONFIRMED - born 10th of July - 1 Boy & 2 girls -SILVERBLUE - Cocker Spaniels - CONFIRMED - born 16th of July - 8 puppies -AMSTAFF_AMBITION - Am Staffs - CONFIRMED - born 19th of July - 2 Boys & 1 girl -ANATOLIAN - Anatolian Shepherds - CONFIRMED - born 23rd July - 3 Boys & 4 girls -KARLMORE - Labradors - CONFIRMED - due 30th of July -CHOPPERLODGE - Bull Terriers - CONFIRMED - due 30th of July
  5. Thanks for that - I am fairly new to all this so its all learning for me - but that was pretty much what I was looking for - I guess if the couple decide to further pursue the breed then eventually I will remove the restrictions of the breeding - but at the moment due to a previous incident involving another breeder I am not very trusting and feel that I need to protect my lines at the moment - our breed has a lot of corruption at the moment and all I can hope for is that the DNA profiling will come through asap - lol Thank you for your help Jess.
  6. A pup I sold to a couple have just sent me photos of the pup I sold to them - he is now 6 months old and quite stunning. They are interested in showing now, but at the time they bought pup they just wanted a pet and there was brief discussion about interest in showing but had decided on pup and they were unsure of the show scene then. This was my first litter, so I was unsure how pups were going to turn out so one was retain by myself and the other 2 were sold on limited register as pets. What options do I have if I want to encourage the owners into showing - well in saying this they are very interested in showing, so it is up to me now whether I move the boy onto main papers. My problem with this is and sorry if I sound selfish with my lines, but I do not really want to open this boy up for stud and leak my lines out too soon when I am only just starting out myself and wish to be one of the firsts in the breed to get the parti colour recognised in Australia, and it does concern me that a few breeders will seek these people out for stud duties so to speak - very long story - but what options are there? I hear there is a main registration for neutered dogs? what does this entail and is there many shows that have these classes? or is it still relatively new? As a breeder who has sold a dog on limited papers I know you can move them back over to mains - but can you go co-owners if they go on mains? I sound very paranoid I know, but there are valid reasons for my craziness as some may have remember in my last post about a certain unethical breeder trying to use my other boy to stud who is also on limited register... hmmm?? Thanks in advance. Jess
  7. ah yes isn't it hard - I have a girl who is the best candidate to be debarked! but there is nothing I can do about it, all my other poms (all 5) are quite as mice - I can ask my neighbour to lodge a complaint and then have the go ahead to debark her because of the council notice is need as proof for debarking but where does that leave me - I will have a tarnished record and will the council then go ahead and tell me that I can only have 'x' amount of dogs because of the noise complaint! I tried a bark collar but its hard with a heavy coated breed and I show the girl so I can't really win its all getting a little too scary for my liking!
  8. so its not really true then?? God I hope not! This article I have is quite big and long so might save me posting it - lol
  9. I have not got the email - but when I saw the subject "Rhonda Evans" It all clicked that I had just read a post on a pomeranian forum I belong to and this information might help out a few of you who received the email.... There was a post that titled "Preparing for RSPCA inspection" - Not sure but I think Rhonda was a top Chihuahua breeder in Queensland and had her dogs taken off her as well as coped a $300,000 fine, because the RSPCA is now targeting good ethical breeders with top breeding stock because they can take the dogs off the owners by fabricating evidence against the breeders and sell the pups and dogs for 100% profit. Well that is how I red it. And in regards to everyone saying their details are not listed on RSPCA - Apparently it is explained in this article that RSPCA have full access to the microchip database through a contract with DEEDI - So theoretically if this is so, then the RSPCA have all our details, from how many dogs we own to how many complaints we have! I will try and get permission to cross post so that you can all have a read of it - whether it is true or not, it still scares me reading about the claims of what the rspca are doing behind closed doors!
  10. hello all - just got off the phone from the owner of my little puppy! I politely explained the reason for my call as I wanted to voice my concerns about the breeder she is getting involved with. The owner was very honest and seems she was being led a stray and did not realise the "ins and outs" of it all - but I sat down and explained everything - that as her boy was sold as a pet on limited register that any breeder using my boy would be doing the wrong thing - I also added that as the breeders would have to register the puppies using a false sire etc that "they would be party to a fraudulent litter, with falsified documents" that Lynai kindly mentioned and this soon made the owner realise the seriousness of it all. She then appologised and mentioned she had no idea what was happening and was very naive that there were such people like this out there in the dog world! *sighs* if only they knew So over all everything seems to have gone well - I was really dreading calling her, but I am so glad I did! Luckily as someone did ask and I did not answer - yes I do live quite close to this owner and we share the same vet, so desexing will be done and I did offer to pay, but she declined and said she will send me proof of desexing once she has him done (puppy is just coming up to 6 months). My vet who is a family friend has been informed and he has kindly offered to let me know that the procedure has really taken place!!! So I will get confirmation regardless! ahhh deep sigh of releif!!! gosh all this stress and all because there are some scum out there who do not do the right thing by the purebred dog community! All I can hope is that this person gets caught out one day and looses their license!!! Thank you all once again for all the help and support - It gave me that extra bit of confidence to go ahead and raise my concerns with the owner! I have truly learnt a valuable lesson -will always have a contract of sale now when I sell my puppies - even if its not worth the paper it is written on its still a bit of paper and is better then nothing! Having said that I must get cracking on it as I might be expecting my second litter due around early July!!!! hmmm
  11. Thank you both for your concerns and sticky by to see how it results - We were juggling shows and moving this weekend just gone - so as you can imagine not much has really happened - I am close to getting out my dogs paperwork - so as soon as I can get my hands on the copies of change of ownership etc etc I will be able to give the owners a call... I don't want to drag this out too long - I would very much like to contact them asap to get to the bottom of everything as this is really stressing me out!
  12. Thank you all so very much! I will call them - I was going to do so anyway as I want to try and avoid this matter going further! I just wanted a few little pointers so that I "know" what I am talking about and have some valid reason for why they should not go ahead - you know some good threats like the ones that many have mentioned something to try scary them off the idea! I will dig up their contact details asap - I am generally an organised person when it comes to all my doggie stuff - but we are in the middle of moving house so you can imagine some things are not quite easy to get a hold of!!! lol - but I will be onto it now!
  13. Hello Aziah and lynai! Thank you for your help and advice! I know now I should have written a contract! I really thought I have found some trustworthy pet homes - This was my first litter and I am only 25 years old so as far as having all this knowledge with law and contracts - well yes I just don't - lol I guess you learn from your mistakes - I will from now on sell pets either desexed before leaving or with a written contract. Just unfortunate it has come to this with my very first litter I do like the idea of offering to pay for the desexing - at least you know 100% it has been done and you are not receiving a false receipt of desexing from the family vet! Thanks for the help.
  14. Hello all, I had a litter of 3 parti coloured pups back in December! I had a lot of interest from people including other breeders. I kept one boy for show - the other two were sold on limited register which I had explained to the owners they were pets to be desexed and not bred etc - I did not do a contract as upon researching into doing one a lot of people said they were not worth the paper they were written on. I was also looking into early desexing but had not found a vet at that time to perform the op before hand. Both owners were looking for pets, they were not interested in showing or breeding and they understood what LR was after I had explained it all and were quite happy with that. I have been given some information that a not so good breeder is trying to get access to one of the boys - I know she can't legally register the pups - but knowing this person she will use another sire's name for the litter to be registered or register the pups in with another litter - she has been suspected of doing this many times before not to mention using other peoples studs without them knowing. She has been kicked out of the pom club and she has had numerous complaints made aggainst her etc - but still gets away with it - Even her parti lines are a little odd - well marked parti with not one parti in its pedigree for 8 or so generations back??? Now I will be contacting the owners and will openly discuss my concerns - Can anyone give me some advise of what to say or how to convince them against keeping the boy entire and allowing another registered breeder the use of him??? I know this breeder has sold them a parti girl from questionable pedigree (pap x) but these people were quite stunned at how much I charged for a pup $1,200 yet the parti girl was being advertised for $2,000 so my thoughts are the breeder has sold them her cheaper so that she can get something out of it in return - I know I am assuming - but wouldn't surprise me! Originally the owners were all fore desexing - but I think this breeder can be very convincing, so I need some good arguments to convince them against this. Thank you in advance.
  15. Good O I was on the right track - LOL "Blues are dilute brindles. How many solid blues have you personally seen?" In answer to that I personally admit to not knowing much about the breed - I have admired 1 or 2 blues but in admiring the colour my lack of knowledge meant that my eye was not trained to look whether it were solid or not - lol I did not even know a black did not exist in the breed - they are in fact black brindles with either excessicve brindling or black and tan brindle as you have also mentioned - love this forum - you learn something new every day :D Poms on the other hand are "solid" blue deriving from black with the dilute gene present so I was unsure about how it would work with the brindle and staffy, poms can be brindle but the likely hood of having both to do a mating is highly unlikely - I think there is only one or 2 brindle poms in Australia and not many blues either, it be interesting to see the outcome but I don't see it happening anytime soon - very fascinating though and thank you so much for explaining it to me!!! Thank you Sandra777 for your time and information - appreciate it a lot  sorry everyone for taking up some time and space on here - just wanted to ask a little question Blues are dilute brindles. How many solid blues have you personally seen? A lot get advertised as "solid" but these are often the same people who advertise "english staffies" so their perception of reality is perhaps best taken with a grain of salt I've seen maybe 25 or 30 blues and even though I don't recall having ever gone over any except for one with a fine tooth comb only two looked like they might be considered "solid" blue from a distance of a metre or so. If you look at the same number of black brindles from the same distance you'd probably find the same percentage could be considered "solid" black. ETA: and because "solid" blue is considered more desireable by some the number will probably increase - because if you consistently mate non or lightly striped brindles together you are consistently choosing for lack of stripes - same as if you deliberately chose the darkest black brindles and mated them together. As an aside: some black black-brindles are actually tan patterned which means they will have brindle marking on their legs, cheeks, vent and a solid black body. Combine this with the really intense lack of stripes and you can get a dog which is black with a couple of coloured hairs sometimes only on one or two feet (usually a couple of hairs on all the tan points though) These are REALLY hard to see and are actually way more common than many would believe. My assumption would be that a black-and-brindle marked tan point with the dilute gene may only have one or two fawn hairs on each leg for example.
  16. sorry completely off topic - but I am now very currious - colour genetics interest me greatly!!! I had no idea that black staffs are in fact very dark brindles and all that makes sense now - But what about blues - why if you have to have the black first to get blue does the blue still come out pretty solid when the dog is not really a solid black in the first place!! I get it a little but thought it be interesting to find out more!!! I get that the brindle markings would also be diluted - has there been brindle blues - lol - sorry for all the silly questions - you can't learn if you do not ask ... also does the dilute gene work on the brindle rather then the black - would that not be two different genes??? ouch my head hurts!!! ;) sorry to be a pain, but I really am interested in knowing... jess
  17. Milucca ey there its yogi bear
  18. We have family in Auckland, hamilton all over the place - Not sure if the wedding was in Christchurch but will definitly be heading to the north island afterwards to catch up with family - plus Tim has never been to NZ, so I will have to give him some time to sight see - probably do the waitoma caves, rotaruha - god I have no idea how it is spelt?!!! :D sorry!! LOL - I have done them all many times before but I will do it all over again as it is great to see - though rotaruha spells terrible - LOL - like eggy fart So we will be virtually on your door step I will keep thinking of names for you!!! its so much fun!!! All the best with him at his first shows!! Is he out of your renior boy, Carlos?? My parti boy Teddy is doing so well - I am such a proud mum - he is constantly winning and placing which is just fantastic news for a parti colour! colour will always be against him, but so far he is doing a good job of breaking the colour barries! We have not shown him lately as we have been moving house! but of all the times he has entered the ring he has been placed over quality orange pups which is a huge thing in itself - he has 4 class wins, 1 in group win, a 2nd place over 8 baby pups at our Pom specialty show and a 2nd place toy puppy sweepstakes (against other puppy breeds) at sydney royal easter show! I know it seems like not much but this is a great report for a parti colour He is going through the uglies now but he still has a bit of coat to keep him going - we have a show this weekend and a couple the following!! fingers crossed for teddy that he continues his luck - if he does he will sure pave the way for other coloured poms to start coming out into the show ring!! I have another possible parti litter due first week of july - My new girl Teena (is half sister to the boy I used for teddy) is in season and I will begin trying her tomorrow and see if she is ready - will be another exciting litter - very close bloodlines to teddys litter! Anyway I will stop blabbing on - lol jess xo
  19. Hello PomsNZ - Have not spoken to you for a long while!!! Hope you are doing well - we are planning a trip to NZ this year and definitely heading there beginning of next year for a wedding so really hope to catch up with you while we are over! Anyway a big congratulations on your newest edition - he sounds divine - must show us pictures When I came on here asking for some help on my litter with registered names someone clever mentioned Ted E Bears Picnic - I do not know if there is a difference with how many letters and spaces are allowed in NZ - but NSW allows 30 letters including spaces for the entire name including the prefix?? Milucca Ted E Bears Picnic = 26 letters and spaces. edited for spelling
  20. oh yes most certainly - my guess is hernia - but it could very well be something else as you say. I did not manage to get an appointment until Monday - but the wait is killing me and I am very worried about everything - her health firstly, then of course everything else! Thank you anyways - hopefully we get some news soon, and hopefully it is something minor and I am worrying over nothing - but until then I just keep n worrying - poor girl - but she seems ok at the moment - doesn't bother her at all... cheers jess
  21. Hello all, I have just noticed a small lump on my new Pomeranian girl - It is in her groin area situated to one side of her lower abdomen and just next to her leg joint/hip?? Sorry I am very bad at explaining exactly where it is so I hope that makes sense - I have spoken to a few breeders and they are pretty convinced it is a groin hernia caused by trauma. The lump was not apparent when I got her a few weeks back, but I have only just noticed it now! She is happy and well in herself and is running around like normal and eating normally. There appears to be no pain or discomfort when I touch it or gently push it - it does not feel hot or inflamed - I did get told to push on it to see if it retreats which it does and then it pops out again so we are all thinking it is a hernia. I have rung my vet and have an appointment next week or maybe tomorrow if he can fit me in, so I have come on here to get others advise as firstly I have bought this girl from another breeder (reg breeder) in early february this year as a brood girl. Obviously my first concerns are her health. Secondly because I have bought her as a brood, has anyone else experienced this sort of situation and after diagnosis and treatment were they able to be breed from the girl once making a full recovery. I have done some research into hernias and understand that congenital hernias are no good when it comes to breeding so any dog/bitch with a hernia that is thought to be inherit should be desexed and never bred from - I also understand that umbilical hernias are thought to be inherit and the same applies with these. I will of course know more once proper diagnosis has been given, but in talking to another pom breeder and talking to the vet quickly over the phone they seems to think that it is more then likely caused by trauma given the girls age and that she has had litters already. The girl is 5 years old and has had 3 litters - Generally with my own girls I try to limit them to 2-3 litters and then retire them - desexing them and keeping them here or re-homing them. But this girl has bloodlines that are very, very hard to come by (imp parti lines) so I bought her with the intent of having one litter from her and hopefully getting a girl to move forward with and then desexing her..... So I am worried that I have bought and paid for a girl for breeding and because of this it may be too risky to breed her again.... Would love to hear your thoughts as I am a little concerned about everything at the moment and the wait is killing me so would love to know what I am in for and ease my mind if possible. Thank you in advance.
  22. ok... finally back again!! I have some news but not all things answered yet - I am awaiting the photos as well which hopefully they will send me in a couple of days time! Ok I did forget to ask about which pet store it was, will try and find out tomorrow though - but now I wonder if this is true or not as Sugar was not microchipped so selling a pup un-chipped is wrong and so too selling a pit bull - apparently it were advertised as a pit bull but her paperwork is an American Bull dog - Again I am naive to these breeds so maybe it makes no difference as I can not see this breed on the dogzonline website and googling them shows a similar style dog to that of a pit bull or staffy - not saying they are the same but just saying they share similar characteristics. So I guess the first thing would be to microchip her and keep with the American Bull dog? Will still try and get some pictures for you all soon. Thank you very much again for the advise. Jessica.
  23. Thank you very much for all your imput! I will ask all these questions to my friends tonight as we will be meeting up with them for dinner - I am also organising some photos which I will post here for your consideration into whether purebred or not. I will try and find out the pet store they bought her from, as I think it would be quite interesting if you know what I mean and would also see what else I can find about microchip etc. I am not sure whether she is desexed or not, but will ask - I am a firm believer of desexing policy so if she is entire I would be asking them to consider this as well!! tisk tisk if so!!! One can only image what people would snap up an entire purebred pit bull female??? even if it is ilegal!!! There are still many enthusiasts out there who wont give up breeding them. Will be in touch soon - Thank you again.
  24. I suspected that be the case - I knew that you weren't allowed to breed them anymore and therefor you would be condemed to sell them as well. Now that you have given me the heads up about selling, rehoming etc - I too would like to know the pet store!!! I will be getting a couple of pictures of her soon so will add them as soon as possible for everyone to comment? To me she looks fairly like a pit bull - but then I have to say I have never seen many and I like my fluffy breeds so could not be a very good judge on purebred or not??? Thank you so far for your help - It was as I suspected but need to ask those who really knew about this! I guess not much can be done unless they find some friends or someone willing to take her on? dogmad - I live near Hornsy and usually shop there - I have seen many doozies in that pet store!!! I have seen them try to convince an asian couple that the Malamute puppy will not grow much bigger and will be well suited to a unite - DEH!!! I truly wish something starts happening so that these stupid store can no longer sell dogs, cats and any other animals!!!! I am off home now - so will try and have some pics in the next couple of days and will try and reply as soon as I can Thank you both for your information and advise - much appreciated. Jess.
  25. Hello everyone. Firstly I would like to mention that I am not very familiar with the laws pertaining to this breed - so I do appoligise in advance! I do however realise that it is a restricted breed! The story starts like this - I met this couple a few months back and we have been getting a long quite well. I recently find out they own a Pit Bull and are now splitting up and moving their separate ways - Both look to be moving into units or town houses so no chance of keeping their dog as even renting a house in Sydney Metro area is hard enough with the restrictions of any pets! They are both well aware that this breed of dog is a restricted breed and they fear that she will end up in a rescue whereby they will evaluate her and come to realise she is a purebred Pit Bull and wont rehome her and have her PTS. Is there much that can be done? Does anyone know any rescues that may help - I am sorry I am quite naive about the whole situation as like I said I really don't know much about the do's and don'ts with a restricted breed. It seems such a shame as I have met their pit bull girl in person and she is a sweet natured girl - She would not hurt a fly and seems well socialised and trained! Her name is Sugar, she is a year and a half old, all white with a patch on her eye and is unpapered - was bought from a pet store of all places - So who knows if she is a true purebred?? I would have thought the pet store would know better to be selling this breed as I believe the Pit bull was made a restricted breed a couple of years back - could be wrong though? Anyway I hope I do not cause a stir with this - Again I am really in the dark about it all and the couple have come to me to ask for help and I have no idea what can be done - so I have come here to ask questions and learn - so please don't flame me Would appreciate any help, information or advise which I can then pass on to my friends! P.S: I wont be able to reply straight away as my internet is down at home so I am using my Mother-in-laws computer when I get the chance. Thank you in advance! Jess.
