  1. hmmm ... maybe not ... Sunbury is sponsored by Advance.
  2. I'd be ignoring that comment GayleK .... what a silly statement for someone to make .... It's most defintely NOT rude.
  3. There are many consistent winning dogs around that win under a multitude of judges. In my opinion when people talk about "face judging" they are referring to the cases where some people win no matter the quality of the dog .... Judges always come under a hard time - you can't please everyone - and of course there are far more losers than winners.
  4. it has been a good topic ... Like you Mandalay I will often do 1 show on a weekend of 2 or more ... I have many other things to do than spend all my weekends at dog shows. I do of course enjoy showing (and with some success ) .... but again like you i find that face judging is far more blatant than it used to be ... and voting with your feet doesn't seem to work. I have seen the same judges get appointments from their mates over and over again despite drawing terrible entries. Who's accountable ??.... sadly no-one !!!
  5. that's a BIG brag  many congrats !!! cheers, David
  6. A topic that has been discussed many times .... and there is always varying opinions ... Last week as we went into the Best in Group lineup the exhibitor in front of me let me know her bitch was in season ... I was grateful for the advice ... we left plenty of room between us and knowing that info I did my best to keep the dogs attention ... Yes, I agree some dogs not going to cope well with it (been there...)
  7. No ... Groups 1 and 7 will be held inside at both shows, but if it is going to be wet, then all groups will be inside.
  8. why is it so ?? from my own point of view I've thought about it and have the following reasons why I don't enter as many shows as I used to .... 1. I have other things to do besides show every weekend. 2. Judges - face judging has always been there - it'll never change - vote with your feet and stay home. 3. Expense - everything is getting more expensive these days. 4. Enjoyment - it ain't what it used to be .. some people are playing for sheep stations .. pointscores etc etc cheers....
  9. thanks Rebanne not bad for a midweek show.
  10. anyone care to give us the numbers (Group breakdown) ?? just interested ....
  11. adding my congrats to the committee as well.... a great venue - so much space !!!!!
  12. Group 1 ... Best in Group : Cavalier KCS (mine ) RU Best in Group : Pekingese Best in Show - English Setter RU Best in Show - Dalmation cheers, David
  13. happy to be corrected if I'm wrong .. but I don't believe that's the case currently; Grand Champion Title 1,000 points including 1 All Breeds Best in Show; or 4 Best in Group; or 4 Certificates of 25 points. (these could be Group, BOB or Challenge) It does not state that the BIS or BIG must be 25pts.
  14. yes - I can see your point to be honest I think it's time Specialty Shows had to draw certain numbers in order to retain their Ch show.
  15. no it isn't .... there's a map with the numbers that indicates areas for gazebo setups
  16. As always no system is going to please everyone ..... In my breed of course 25pt CC's are available at many shows in the breed. I'd agree with 4 BIG or 1 Allbreed BIS but think that a Specialty BIS should account for something. Then of course ... there are some places who don't get a 25pt CC for Best in Group .. I was looking at some results earlier and the Group entry was 4 !!!!!
  17. and the Std Poodle went on to BIS. I believe RU was the Irish Setter (Greg Browne). We had a quiet day at home after last nights celebrations for yesterdays BIS win
  18. BEST IN SHOW .... the Cavalier ... (mine ..VBG) Ch Miletree Eclipse (Imp UK) RUBIS was the Rottweiler cheers, David
  19. looking forward to seeing the revised system .... 20-25 shows sounds good to me for Top Dog ... wondering about Breed Challenge based on Challenge Points ... yes, I agree it will at least take into account absentees and also not count babies... will you still count RUBOB? and will there be any consideration to Breed Specialties? cheers, David
  20. are they breaking ? do we have a time for BIS?
  21. great job "people" ..... it's very much appreciated
