Actually, yes it does matter. If you are going to quote information then get it correct. This is typical of you, and even when you are corrected you ignore it. As can be seen on any forum you post to. As always, it's "doom and gloom" ... maybe some people look at the NSW report and say 50% are CLEAR .... I also noticed you mention one of the posts from this forum on the restricted group CavalierTalk .... why not raise it here Bet? why mention it on a forum where none of the breeders you contsantly attack are able to reply ? -

Here you go again ... misusing information ... and you have been corrected on this one before butas usual you choose to ignore it. The 60 Cavaliers were NOT scanned in February. They were scanned over a period of time and the findings were presented at a February meeting. A small point I know but it's typical of you Bet .... -

Yes, here we go ... the usual last line that is used over and over again ... NO-ONE wishes our breed to be suffering, are you suggesting there are people that do? -

and here you go yet AGAIN ..... picking up any comment you can and twisting it to your own agenda. yes, you will be remembered (as you've stated that's what you want) ... but it will be for your disservice to the breed. -

You will find Bet Hargreaves on quite a few dog forums preaching the same thing day after day .... and usually constantly "breeder bashing" the UK Cavalier breeders. When the going gets tough she will retreat to a forum where those she criticizes have no right of reply as they are not allowed to join that forum. Often BH will misquote or take completely out of cpntext what people have said ... and rarely posts corrections. To my knowledge she has never breed Cavaliers and I believe she has not owned one for some time. -
same here Sway ... woke up at 6am .. it was cold and wet here ... went back to bed

spot on Jed ... of course we see the media sensationalism of dogs in pain... BUT ... as you say - there are many that have a syrinx that do become symptomatic. with regards to costs.... through the NSW CKCSC I think the cost is around $750, when I had one of my boys done a few years back it was $1000 and I also had to fly to Sydney. -
sounds good ... can I give you mine to do

asal .. you're right, it is very scarey. No matter what breeders do they can NOT guarantee that something will not go wrong. Breeders can also not state that SM is "not in their lines" ... many will state that they have not seen SM in their dogs, and by that they mean they do not (to the best of their knowledge) have dogs that are symptomatic. The problem here is that a dog doesn't have to be symptomatic to have SM. There are known cases of dogs here and overeseas of dogs that have been MRI'd and they have SM but still lead normal lives. -

hi Steve.... This is part of the dilema isn't it ?? .... your "everyday dog owner" is not going to have an MRI done if the dog is not symptomatic - it's a very expensive exercise here in Australia. In the recent report to the NSW CKCS Club (Feb 10) , Georgina Childs reported that of the 60 dogs scanned by her through the scannings days organised with the Club there were 50% that were "clear". -

I have been in the breed 30+ years and have seen several "symptomatic" dogs and know of some who had been put to sleep because of it. It's not a matter of dogs being "symptomatic" , it's the presence of a syrinx, only determinable by an MRI that defines whether SM is present or not. There is no denying there is a problem in the breed - we can only do as we have always done and that is to use the tools available to us if possible. -
I agree nothing better than outside at KCC Park on a nice day ......

interesting ... according to the DogsVic website under Member News it states; "The front lawn competition area is now available for use without restriction"
-
interesting ... I have seen on many occasions the owner in the ring stacking the with the "runner" standing there ready to take over. surely in order for it work both have to be in the ring? cheers

Have to agree ... Geelong would have to be one of the worst showgrounds that I've been to for space etc for the dog area. -
