  1. Good luck!! I hope you find what you're after. Wish I had the skills to do something like that.
  2. Last night we had to take Brodie to an after hours emergency Vet as he was constantly throwing up, the Vet asked what we feed him and after telling her it's a mix of raw and premium puppy dry food she said that the raw is no good for a growing puppy She said I should be feeding him a good brand of tin and dry food with the occasional drink of puppy milk and to stop the raw until he's older and doesn't need so much calcium.. This isn't my usual vet and according to the vet we see regularly the raw is a fine diet for pups? Do the people on here who feed raw, only feed it to adults? I'm so confused and I don't know what's best anymore after so many different points of view. So basically, should I stop feeding my puppies raw and change them to a puppy formula and only give raw food occasionally?
  3. Just an update.. I have been doing this.. With no luck. I'm going crazy. The vet has already ruled out no illnesses, like I said, everytime we go and mention it, there is no sign anything is wrong. She won't even eat meaty bones.
  4. I have checked her teeth and there appears to be no problem with them. MiniMum i never thought to wait until her food is at room temp - i just feed it to her straight from the fridge. Will give it a go tonight. Thankyou!
  5. Thanks Danois. Will give it a shot :D
  6. Really? :D We asked our vet if it was okay to use it on our other dogs aswell and he said it would be fine. Our dogs get a bath every two weeks and using the shampoo doesn't seem to be causing any probs.
  7. That's out of the question, my dogs are never in the backyard alone, they spend their outside time in an enclosed patio. I'm paranoid of them getting stolen/baited. :D She gets on great with the other dogs and I wouldn't say stress. I'm stressed trying to find a job but apart from that, nothing is out of the ordinary.
  8. No, she's not doing that. She does however just lay down next the bowl and glance at it occasionally as if she's thinking about eating it but doesn't.
  9. I'm stumped. It's been two days since my 6 month old pup, Kyra has eaten anything. She's fine in herself, she's not showing any signs that something could be wrong and she's still doing number two's. We have offered her, Kangaroo meat, chicken necks, pet mince, tuna and dry food on its own over the past few days and she hasn't even had one mouth full. I emailed the rescue group i got her from as eating has been a major issue since i first brought her home, the rescue lady i got her from said she was even a fussy eater when she was a young pup and ate the least amount of food out of the litter. She has never gone this long without food, she is always wormed on time and is in excellent health. She is a very lean/lanky dog and is always full of energy which is hard to believe considering the small amount she eats. I don't know what to do, I know I've made numerous threads about her diet but she 'fasts' randomly all the time and just stops eating. It's stressing myself and my other half out very much. Every time we go to the vet and mention it, they can never find any reason that would explain it. Anyway I'm off to the deli to buy some sardines and see if she'll eat them. I know it may seem like I'm giving into her 'game' however I'm really worried this time as it's the longest without food since I've had her.
  10. My Shar Pei gets bad dandruff occasionally and we buy him a shampoo called Sebazole. It's very good it's an anti dandruff, antifungal and antibacterial shampoo. Works a treat on my boy.
  11. What brand/type of Yoghurt is best to use for dogs? I never thought to feed it to my guys but I might give it a shot.
  12. Thank you for all the advice everyone. It has been very helpful. I think we might speak to our vet about the surgery and see what he recommends doing.
  13. Agreed. My dog Kyra had the exact same symptoms and she was diagnosed with Gastro and spent 4 days at the vets on fluids and anti biotics. Hope your pooch is okay.
  14. Oh okay. I was thinking it would be much more than that.
  15. What is the approx cost to have it done? Thanks ArtyFarty.
  16. RC dry with either chicken necks, lamb flaps, chicken frames/wings or pet mince from the butcher. I don't feed them vegetables very often.
  17. Wouldn't it be frustrating for the dog to be bashing into things all the time? would the dog need someone with it all the time so it can drink/eat? How difficult would you say it is to manage a blind dog? I'm in no way saying i want to put my dog to sleep i'm just trying to gather as much info as i can from people with experience.
  18. My 8-10 year old adopted Shih Tzu has a cataract in his left eye and one developing in his right eye. On his vet check the vet said cataracts are nothing to be concerned about however after reading up on it on the net I don't know what to believe? I realise he will eventually be blinded from it and a few websites have actually said the dog could be in pain & have double vision? Also what are peoples opinions on the quality of life of blind dogs? Would you have your dog PTS or do you think it's fine to let blind dogs live? Do you think that's cruel?
  19. Sorry I didn't realise groomers had bookings planned weeks in advance. This is my first dog with a coat that needs to be groomed so I'm still learning ;) I'll start phoning around tomorrow then
  20. I'll be after a groomer in about 2 weeks time to clip my Shih Tzu and was hoping someone could recommend someone good? I'll be wanting him clipped nicely for summer as he gets very hot just pottering about the house. Would also like him to be bathed. Local to Osborne Park would be nice:) also what is the usual cost for something like that? ETA he has a skin issue.. do groomers usually have a shampoo/conditioner suitable or do you need to take your own a long?
  21. We use Supercoat puppy for dry food. I'll be changing back to RC when I start working again next week. However I don't see a problem with supercoat. My cats have it too. & The rest is raw food & veggies.
  22. You can feel his spine..it pokes out, I'm guessing underweight? If I was to buy a bag of RC would I need to buy the senior or adult version? I fed him a 150g sachet of fresh kangaroo meat with some Super coat Biscuits tonight. He seemed to love it and ate the lot.
  23. I need some help with something - I recently adopted an 8 year old Shih Tzu with arthritis in his back legs and I was wondering what I should stick to feeding him so he doesn't put on too much weight - he's under weight at the moment so needs to be fed up but not too much. I obviously want a complete and healthy diet but not anything that will stack weight on him.
  24. That's such a shame. RIP Roo. Glad she didn't have a bub in the pouch.
