Is this the stuff you're all taking about? KraMar Supa Naturals Chicken Breast Strips My dogs got some for Christmas and have been snacking on them all morning... Should I be worried?

Ditto, exactly what our vet told us.

Does it look itchy or sore? I used to have a staffy who chewed on his feet, he had a skin irritation between his toes but chewing and licking it made it so much worse. The grass in our yard at the time didn't agree with him.

Just an update, we went and bought her a new ceramic bowl and went to City Farmers and picked up a sample of Eagle Pack, gave her that for dinner that night and she actually ate it! My mum let me borrow some money to buy her a big bag of Eagle Pack so I got a 15kg bag and she will eat the biscuits but nothing else, I'm not fussed though as it's a decent food. I'm so relieved it's not funny. I hope she continues eating it and thanks so much for all the help. Oh forgot to say a HUGE thank you to Fady who posted me out samples of different foods for Kyra, she ate the Orijen and I think that's what got her back on her food in the first place.. Thank you so much!!

Our Vet is usually really good and has given us free consults before, even when we weren't low on funds, so if I discussed it with him, I might be able to work something out. Here are some photos of her from last night... Excuse my OH.. this is kyra being her usual self, being a goof and relaxing with my partner. Chewing her teething bone shortly after.. After my partner gave her the bowl of food..she ran away and this is what she was like when he caught her.

I have spoken to a few members who own them and a couple of them have had the same problem but for nowhere near as long or to this extent. :rolleyes: again.

Still nothing. I'm in a lot of financial difficulty at the moment so unfortunately had to cancel with Kathy. She is getting worse every day and now shakes at the sight of her food bowl. Is there anything at all I can do without Kathy? anybody have any other advice that hasn't already been mentioned? I can barely get by to live at the moment so I can't afford to buy different fancy foods for her to try or get a behaviorist in yet, which has really stressed me out because I wanted to get this sorted. She's stressing me out so much I'm in tears. :rolleyes:

My dog Kyra was the same, we bought her a crate when we first brought her home, however she would get very stressed out in it and would start bashing her head into the sides, crying like crazy. The cage was ditched. I hope you find a way to calm her down and get her used to it. Some dogs just won't take to them, though. Good luck :rolleyes:

Well thanks for that guys Unless he seems to go downhill I won't worry too much about the injections as he's pottering along just fine! when we first got him it looked like it was a "have to do" kind of thing, he was in so much pain and had trouble standing up. I'm impressed, never thought raw would make any difference to that side of his health.

Just a quick question and it's probably going to sound crazy but I was wondering if raw food could make a difference to Arthritis pain? When we first adopted our 8-10 year old Shihtzu he had heaps of trouble walking & always seemed in pain with his Arthritis, however we've had him around 8 weeks now and he only eats raw food, mainly pet mince and neck muscle bones etc. Over the time he's been with us, his legs have got so much better and he can now run, only falling over once or twice, so basically I was wondering if it could be anything to do with what he eats? He isn't on any sort of medicine for it at the moment but we were planning on getting him the fortnightly injections and using the powder, until he started showing huge improvements. Anyway sorry for the weird question but I'm curious.

I'm guessing a combo of Husky and GSD. Possibly a hint of Kelpie, don't know about Shar Pei?

Don't have any advice but I dunno if I would let her off lead while she does this, eventually she will jump on the wrong person and you'll most likely get an earful It's so frustrating though, my 7 month old used drive me insane with jumping. Good luck

She had a vet check this morning and she has no health problems - teeth etc. The vet has given us the details of Kathy Mcleod, a dog behaviorist, she is apparently one of the best in Perth so hopefully she can help us out.

She didn't end up at the pound, her mother did and gave birth to her at the foster carers place. But according to her it was always a nightmare at meal times. She thought it would improve once she was settled into a new home - nope! So what sort of specialist would I need to look into & where could I find one?

Is this something new, Kyra? You didn't mention it earlier.... This is different. It could mean she has been hurt or scared originally..and she associates it with the bowl. or the food.. Is she fed in the same spot? On concrete,wooden floor, outside on grass??? where? The bowl is? ceramic, plastic, steel???? Is teh bowl stationary, or can it move when she puts her head in?? have you tried feeding her directly off the ground, or off a sheet of plastic ? It could also mean that eating caused her pain in her mouth or somewhere, now she's apprehensive..... When you next feed her..can you manage a few photos of her awaiting her meal..eating, and then showing the 'scared behaviour'... ? No, nothing new, just forgot to mention it before the bowl can't move, we've tried feeding her off a plate but that's as far as we've gone, haven't tried the ground yet. She's always fed in the kitchen on nylon & the bowl is plastic however she used to have a ceramic one. When we picked her out as a pup and went to visit her weekly, the foster carer used to hand feed her as in shoving the food down her throat because she was apparently losing weight fast. Nearly everytime we went over, she was being fed this way & I was actually wondering if maybe she remembers and it worries her? Like I say, I've always had problems with her eating properly so is that a possibility?

Thanks Pittylover. I'm STILL having problems with her. Day after day I take her food away and give it to her next meal time only for her to take a few mouth fulls and walk away. When we put the bowl in front of her she looks as if she's scared of it and goes and hides behind something. I'm going to take her for yet another vet visit because I'm seriously, going crazy. Nothing is working at all and if I keep this up, I'm going to go insane with worry.

Don't mean to worry you but my dog ate a rancid bone and ended up with gastro within the 24 hours. Hope your dog is okay. how revolting would those maggots have looked

Ditto. Hope for the dogs sake they pull through.

We fed both our puppies chicken frames since we got them - 10-12 weeks and never had any problems.

We mainly feed raw pet mince, chicken necks/frames, lamb shanks and Supercoat Puppy Dry. The pet mince is only $1.50 kg. We buy 20 kg at a time and it lasts ages between 3 dogs.
