No she hasn't but I was thinking that too. Will talk to her more about it tomorrow. I know Sweep will get really excited if I go see him, and he isn't out of danger yet, so I don't want to do anything that could jeopardize his health.
-
Yup I don't want to cause him any more stress or worry. I really just want him to get all the rest he can. My vet said he is happy and not upset. I've been there before and seen other peoples dogs crying and howling, but my boy is happy when he is around people, even if its not always me. I completely trust my vet too and the nurses are really lovely. Seeing him would only be for my benefit and thats just being selfish, besides, it will only make me more upset that I can't take him home!!

Good thinking, will do that now!

Borrow it? Credit card extensions/personal loan?? How is he in himself..any chirpier? Anything that's not worse is good news. OH has said he will lend me the money. Phew! Even though my vet knows me and is super lovely and would probably let me pay it off, I don't think it's fair on her. She said he has perked up a little bit. When she took him outside this morning to do a wee and get the urine sample he was walking on his own and he walked back to her when he was done. I feel much better knowing that, cause when I dropped him off yesterday morning he was hardly able to move himself. My vet said I am welcome to go in if I want to. She is busy but I have been out the back of her practice several times before so she would just let me go on through, I wouldn't need to see her as such. But we both agreed that seeing him might excite him or he might think I am there to take him home. I would rather he rested continuously.... even though I wanna go give him big cuddles and kisses!! I know I will burst into tears too - I keep crying at home.. my vet doesn't need to deal with that on a busy Sat morn!

Thats the part we would need to send him to a specialist for I think. She wasn't exactly sure. I did some reading up and Prednisone can bring it on. Yup, he is still on it now and will be until he is stablised. She did that after I got of the phone the first time this morning and yup loads of Glucose in his urine. She hasn't so far. I've decided to keep him there on the drip and once he stops the vomiting she will start him on insulin.

Just spoke to the vet and he is Hyperglycemic. She needs to get a urine sample to test as well, which she is working on. She mentioned that he should go to a specialist, but this will cost upwards of $2000. What does one do when they don't have that kind of money?

thats what my OH said too. he does need some rest If he has to stay longer than tomorrow, take something of yours, eg t-shirt, for him to snuggle into. I was thinking that too Cyn, I have a jumper I can take that I wore all day today.

If he's not all that well, he'll just sleep shmoo. Hopefully he'll feel better in the morning. thats what my OH said too. he does need some rest

Thank you for the support everybody, it means a lot to me. I just hope he isn't too scared at the vets, he has never had an over night stay before. Really hoping that he has perked up lots come morning.

I'm gunna raid tonight (as in play an online game) that will keep me focused on something other than Sweep. Then I will go straight to bed after and wait for the phone call in the morning. Scott is home with me. We are both just really trying not to think negative thoughts. He is a fighter, and the fact that he is pushing the water bottles away now that his temp is back to normal is a good sign that he still cares!!

I don't know what to do with myself. What have others done to keep themselves busy in this kind of situation?

Just spoke to the vet and he hasn't picked up at all. Won't know the blood results until tomorrow. He vomited again and there was blood in it I really hope its just some stomach lining blood from throwing up so much. He will be staying at the vets over night.

Her first conclusion was the Pred. He has been on this a few times now for his reoccuring allergies, but this time perhaps he didn't cope with it? He is 6.5yrs old, maybe his liver can't cope anymore? Will liver problems show up in blood results? and is liver damage reversible or manageable? My vet is currently in surgery, but I am waiting for her to call and let me know how he is doing. Finding it really hard not to drive down there and be with him

ty will mention it when i speak to my vet. it was 2 days ago that i put Advantage on all the dogs

Thank you for all the well wishes. My vet is going to call me this arvo to let me know how he is doing. I will probably go visit him too.

My poor Sweep threw up 2 nights ago, I didn't think much of it as he likes to bury bones and dig them up on occasion. (I try to prevent this but he gets away with it sometimes :D ) He has been taking some anti-biotics and prednisone for around 6 days for his skin, these were vet prescribed of course. (Not the first time he has taken these drugs, he has a history of skin problems) He didn't eat his dinner that night or last night and I was getting very worried last night, but he was still responsive, pink gums and had elasticity in his skin. Woke up this morning and although I know he was drinking loads of water last night (he slept next to my bed last night) he was very dehydrated this morning and breathing in pain. Took him to the vet this morning and he appears to have an enlarged liver. He is still there now getting bloods and is on fluids. My vet knows I'm broke, but I told her to do whatever it takes. Please help me prayer for a healthy recovery. I'm trying not to think bad thoughts, but I will fall apart if I loose him.

I don't have a tripod, but when I looked at my bedside table tonight, I thought maybe this shot could be an entry. The light is from my bedside lamp.

Try cutting some of that out, I would start with the "vegie slop" give just pumpkin for a few weeks and see if that changes anything.

Does Twisted Stomach = Gastric Torsion ?
shmoo replied to Purple Julie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Depends how fast she ate and some might argue if the bowl was on the floor or elevated. Did she exercise after at all etc... -
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. My Silky x Malt gets allergies and I can only put it down to grass. I've tried different diets, malaseb washes, metho dips, vinegar.. (yes i was gettin desperate!) every cream possible from dog to human type and the only thing that stops him chewing himself is Prednisolone.
