The night shots of the reindeer are awesome, I havent done much night photography so I cant give you any constructive criticism, but they look like they are relaly flying through the sky to me!! I have just started to learn photoshop so here is a few of mine, to many to decide which to use for my cards so Im gona use all of them ...LOL The cat is my old girl Holly she was 17 yesterday, she is a lovley girl and no where near her age, I think she has got a few years left in her yet!! Since learning photoshop I have gone mad and done lots of radical things with photos, and Ive had fun with the christmas ones.

Great fantastic photos, I can see whay your loving the lense, Im not really clued into lense speak and I was under the impression that id have to spend $1000 to get another lense for my D80 Nikon, I got it with a kit lense 18 - 135. Can anyone recommend a suitable cheaper option for a lense that I could have some fun with and take good sorry great photos like Kirislin??
-
Hi, so when you say festive do they have to be of a christmassy nature?? Is that what you mean??

Thanks Luke, Ill give it a go, I still have a couple of weeks of my course left and am learning more and more each time, Im reluctant to ask my teacher about specific picture making because the course is about making good photos and not so much the real funky stuff if you know what I mean. One lesson a lady asked him something about how to change the background and he got a bit cranky. Im hoping to do advanced photoshop next then ill be right but dol is a great place to learn things especailly with talented people like you to give great advice. At work I do our team member magazine and the three people in the pic did some poses for me to get the front cover, they are 3 of my best work buddys and absolute beautiful people, thats why I didnt think they would mind me posting the pics!! Thanks again.

Hi Luke, I was hoping you would come to the rescue.. I dont think the pic of my boy was a good example and I know what you mean about tricky ones like with really rough edges, i will definatly have a look at the the book you recommended. Here is a better pic still done in the same way. I think this one looks ok and not rough around the edges like the puppy one. not sure my work buddies would like thier pics on here but its all in the name of art... and it is going to be in the next edition of our magazine so everyone will see it anyway!! Thanks again.

Hi guys, this is probly a question that has been asked a lot, but i was wondering if anyone could tell me if Im doing this right. It is working but I am thinking maybe there is an easier or better way. To make your subject in a photo become the only thing in the photo, with the back ground totally changed to a different color, i am selecting the back ground using the magic wand, then just using the gradient tool Im changing the color of the back ground, ive put an example below. Can anyone tell me if Im doing it right?? Please.

They are awesome, very unusual formation!!

Hi Guys, here is a video of Bronson, It is pictures and a couple of videos, I made it to a dvd to send to the family I got him from. It has taken me a while to figure out how to do it and I thought it was never going to upload to You tube it took forever but I got there in the end. Thought you might like to have a look, it is long though about 10 mins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K05RNnf7n3M

Hi I have the d80 and it is fab, you are gona love the d90 Nikons are so good, your lenses will be great for starters,I only have an 18 - 135 but it is ok so far. Set your image quality on jpeg and fine and the largest settings possible below raw. Learn all about the camera before you do any shooting on raw cause then there is more to learn as you have to edit the images after you take them also convert your raw fiels, your computer ownt do this unless you have program and know what your doing. If you have the image quality at the highest then you are always taking photos in largest possible mega pixels you can always crop and edit etc and still print out a decent pic with out losing too much quality. I am in the middle of doing a course and it has been great, I have learnt to use my camera on manual after using it on auto for so long and it does make a difference. I also a lot of the time use mine on burst mode, not sure what else to call it but it is when you take a shot and the camera keeps taking shots till you take your finger off the button, great for action shots. Good luck and have fun cant wait to see more pics. Below is one of my recent pics taken on a lovely day in the program mode so I set my exposure compensation also my white balance and my iso and the camera did the rest.

Awesome pics, Im in the process of learning how to use PS hope I can edit my pics as good as these, the background looks amazing!! Now all I have to do is start shooting in Raw!!

Ha thats funny last night i just done the second night of the photo course im doing. I have learnt so much in the two nights so far. my course goes for one night a week for 3 hours for 10 weeks. We are learning all about how to use the camera properly and photo shop. I am absolutley loving it, Ive always been so keen on photography but never really knew what I was doing So as a result Im loving my camera even more so, it is awesome. Hope its ok to pop a couple of pics here, there were just taken in Automatic mode, (pre course) now I actually know what Im doing. The photos sections of Dol are so fantastic as is the rest of the forum but I love to learn about photography and was wrapped with this thread when I found it!! This is my tomboy girl Tully, being very bold with the cliff edge. Looks scary but it is not a sheer cliff edge there is a ledge down a bit further that isnt in the photo This is My georgous girl Lacy, I cant wait to learn more photoshop so I can figure out how to get rid of back grounds, I had a friend have a go at this and she did a great job but id love to learn how to do it myself Another two of Lacy This Is my baby boy Bronson (not so baby any more) he is 9 months old now, he was 9 weeks old in this pic This is my older boy Cooper Jay he is 2 and half now I love this one of him I he was standing up a hill and looking at some sheep over inthe next paddock. This was one of the first pics I took with the D80, I like this one too Another of Bronson, a lot older here, let me tell you i was very reluctant to take my D80 to the beach, I was gaurding it with my life!! I usually take my camera I had before the nikon (a panasonic FZ50 also an awesome camera!!)to places like that but I really wanted to take some pics at the beach with it so I did. Thats it so there are some of my favorite pics so far from my D80, I havent really taken anything else apart from the dogs, come to think of it I dont shoot much else apart from the dogs photography and dogs what more can a girl want!! I was wondering could anyone else with a D80 post some of thier pic on here or maybe direct me to the best place to look at some other dolers pics with specific cameras. Hope it is ok to post these pics here. Thanks guys Barb

Hi Guys, just came across this thread, glad you got the problem fixed, I love my D80 have had it since last year and only now have found time to do a photo course to learn all the features it has. Previous to the D80 I had a Panasonic FZ50, Also a great Camera but the D80 pics are just a cut above!! Impatiens, thanks for the heads up about the reset might have to try that if I get into trouble, What else do you have on your short list. I went with Nikon after a long drawn out battle between the D80 and the Canon 400. Ive always loved the Nikons and after a lot of reasearch decided the D80 was the one for me, and my budget, especially since it is my first slr.

My boys both did it for a very short while, I got a light weight chain lead problem solved!! and only had to use it a few times and they never bothered again!! Barb edited to add, I agree with some of the others using intimidating methods and loud voices on a young pup will have adverse effects and the problem could become worse. Not sure if this would work but ive heard it can, when training young pups n a lead put two on them and let one just drag and the other in your hand when they start to pull or tug on the one inyour hand drop it and pick up the other one. Like I said Ive never used thismethod and it could go the other way the pup may like the one the ground better!! Maybe this has also been suggested, let chew but ignore and just dont go anywhere till the chewing stops!! another good thing if your pup is food oriented and being food reward trained is make your walk real exciting show puppy you have food and if she is doing the right thing and walking along nicely treat her. I find if I dilly dally and the pups lose interest that canbe where the lead looks more fun that the actual walk. anything positive is worth a try.

Hi, Im noew to the crete training and only use the crete for my boy to sleep in, My other 3 dogs all older never used a crete but my youngest one was beside himself the first couple of nights so I go t him a crete and we have never looked back. Im no expert but this is what I did, first and foremost if he cryed I took him outside and he would always go and that would be about once through the night he is 6 months old now and sleeps through and has been for a while. He does tend to be a real sooky boy so if he has been out to the loo then crys a bit I know it is just for attention!! There will probley be others who can give you better advice im jsut going on what I did, I always also made a habit of not talking or playing to the pup when taking him out to begin with incase was only crying for attention, but you will get to know after a while and I think the main thing is if she has been asleep and wakes and crys then always assume she need to go to the toilet. I also find with my lot the girls as pups always needed to go more frequently than the boys, not sure if this is the same with other people..... BTW your pup is very cute!! Have fun with her the puppy days go so fast!! Barb
