Hi Lea, Id be keen to join you, although I did get a bit slack towards the end of this month. when you say B/W do you mean black and white, maybe Ill go sepia for the month. I have been working out a formula for how sepia looks the best but in the end I have figured out that it really depends on the photo I guess that should have been obvious to begin with!! A friend I work with (also a keep photographer) is getting involved with some photographers here in our town and they are thinking about having a exhibition at our local art gallery and he asked me if I would like to put some of my pictures in the exhibition. Not sure if it will come about but I have a few photos of my oldest boy Cooper and Lacy in Sepia that I thought I could do a series on and have the theme all the same. So I might be able to work on getting some better shots of them and make them sepia.

Tn, there is just something about the gloved doctors hand that makes me shudder , good shot though!! Love Chester at the closed pet shop, love the orange and brown tones, great shot!! I have been wondering about lightroom, I have it, i thnk it is the new version it is light room 2 but I got PS at the same time and have been using that. How hard is it to navigate your way around light room, is it a matter of just having a play or will I need to do a tutorial or something like that. Is the sepia effect easy to achieve in light room??

Thanks for all the replys, I tell you what it was on the tip of my tounge to diss her being the "pro" photographer but as she was a friend of the groom I couldnt bring myself to do it. I did not take my flash as I just wanted to blend into the crowd with taking photos and didnt want to stand out too much. It just so happened that the bride when doing the seating for the wedding put the photographer at my table as she tought she didnt know anyone else and her and I would have a lot in common, well we did with the same cameras and that was it!! She actually said to me when I said to her oh we have the same camera, (I think at that point she was embarrassed that a guest at the wedding had the same camera as her) "oh so I see you only use your camera on Auto" and "you wont do any good without a external flash" to which I replyed, "I do have an external flash but didnt want to look like I was trying to be something im not in this situation". And I dont use it on auto at all usually I use it on P as I can change the exp comp and the iso and in certain situations I also use it on A or S or Manual but It just depends on the situation. Anyway I really wanted to tell her was that the bride had originally asked me to shoot thier wedding, now I know I only have a D80 but she loves my photos and knew I would do a good job and didnt care that they wouldnt be fully proffesional. But I said to her it isnt the kind of Photography that I enjoy and it is way too much pressure for me but I would take some pics on the day and any good ones they can have!! But the funniest thing when they were about to cut the cake and then have the first dance the "photographer" had to change memory cards which she did sitting next to me and when she put the card in, (it was a brand name id never heard of and looked cheap) it wouldnt work, well it did work but it didnt display the numebr of photos and the display on the camera wouldnt give any details, so she asked me to try it in my camera and I did and it worked perfectly in both my D80 and my canon ixus 970 so she didnt know what to do as she said she had taken 2000 pics of the day and this was her last memory card, at this point I just thought ha suffer in your fat jocks love...... and here is me with about 5 or 6, 2 gig memory cards in my camera bag, now Im not a nasty person actually Im very kind and always go out of my way to help others, my OH always says im thinking about everyone else before I think about myself, but I thought you know what this is your problem not mine, and then I made sure I got some really nice pics of the bride and groom cutting the cake and dancing just incase hers didnt turn out. The others sitting at my table one girl in particular (a friend) had noticed all she had said to me and said I handled the situation nicely and had put her back in her place very well, she said I didnt have a clue what you were talking about but you sounded more professional than her Anyway with al that being said, I went to the park the other day for a doggy date with some friends and I put the 18 - 135 kit lense back on and noticed that it is considerable faster focusing than the tamron and will always take the photo where as sometimes the tamron just doesnt wanna work, I am not real happy with it but just keep putting it down to the fact that maybe I dont really know what the hell im doing with it. Here is one pic from the wedding, I would post more but dont think I shoudl considering the bride hasnt see them yet. I liked this one and I thought it wasnt bad considering the light was fairly low and I didnt use the flash, not much P just checked levels and it was a little dull so lightened it a bit and sharpened and thats it. thanks again, I really appreciate the responses!!

I was at a wedding a couple of weekends ago and I had my D80 and taking a few shots, and I got talking to the pro photographer that was taking the wedding photos, she was using a D80 also, said she had a D200 but it was in the shop getting fixed, she was using the kit lense 18-135 mm for tall the photos. She asked me what my lense was and I said 18-250 macro Tamron and she said that you should never put any lenses on a Nikon except Nikon, I was really taken aback and couldnt bring myself to ask her why?? I felt like a real dummy, Is she right? Id love to hear what other think about this and if they think she is right in saying that why??
-
KJ, love the tree stump, do you do your PP in PS?? Beautiful Bird Iltby, great shots so lovely and clear, what lense did you use for these??
-
Hey Mawson, are we doing Thunder point in the morning??? Pandii is gonna come too and bring Seb!! What about you RJ wanna join us?? anyone else??
-
Hi Tanya, beware the cricket guys, they will go nuts if you are on the oval. We have permission from the council to use the oval for dog training but only on a Sunday morning. You can however use the rest of the reserve any part of it but not the ovals at all. Around the tennis court there is a big area that the dogs can run around on. Now that there is a playground there, there is a 30 metre rule about dogs being near the play ground but Ive seen plenty of parents with thier kids and dogs there so not sure how much they would police that rule!! You know the track that runs through there down from your place if you follow it to the road part then walk behind the cricket practice nets then you can walk right aruond the outer part of the other oval. But defintley steer clear of the actual ovals at all cost, you will get abused if one of the nasty ones see you on there.

Mawson, if tomorrow is like today, is that too sunny for Migs?? If you think it is too sunny we could just go to Albert park, I can do Thunder point later in the day if I want to. Anyway Let me know, Pandii, RJ you guys coming?? anyone else?? Oh and 9.30 will be fine.

You wouldnt read about it, RJ that weekend that your show is on 24th, I am in Melbourne having a dog meet with some doggy buddies from down there as Im on the way home from my mums that day so we thought we would have a meet as Im coming through. If I wasnt i would have come past the show and came and checked you out!! Im sure you will be fine but im guessing it will be a big show being in Geelong? Do you have to go on your own? or are you going with some other show people? Or maybe Hubby going with you??

I just got back from a walk with my lot, we went to the friendlys today, there is a lot of concrete up there for them to run around on if it is wet, as it is easier when I come home to let them inside if they are not too wet and dirty as If it is cold and raining they all stay inside while I go to work for the arvo. I would have come with you Pandii if I wasnt working!! Maws Hope Thursday will be not to sunny but not raining, 9.30 is fine by me, well see what the weather is like on the day, anyone else coming. Doesnt RJ, love us anymore, she hasnt posted here for ages?? Come and tell us whats news.
-
Thanks Bindi, another slack day for me today, no pictures, I had to work and the weather is so aweful here, All the doggies stayed inside all day!!
-
I seen some today in the $2 shop and they were just called pet wipes. I usually buy to have in the car (for unforseen events when we are out) baby wipes.
-
Maybe, but I think if you had more light you may not see the spray, I thought it was clever!!

I have the Nikon D80, I love it, and havent had any problems with it so far. I think if you go with Canon or Nikon, you wont go wrong, have you been to a camera shop and held both brands to see which one feels better in your hand?? I know this probly sounds silly but it can be a deciding factor if you are having trouble deciding. My friend just bought a Canon 450 D for $1250 and I think the equivallent in Nikon is the D90 Google dpreview and have a look at the reviews. Ps I just love you signature, did you do it yourself??
-
TN, I think that pic is cool, is it like a nasal spray or something?? LP, those pups are just amazing, bet you spend a lot of time with them, I would not get anything done with pups in the house!! Beautiful photos!! I didnt take any here yesterday the weather was foul and we spent the day lazing around the house doing odd inside jobs!!

WHat date in May is the Show in Geelong?? I'm thinking RJ must be very busy or else she is avoiding us??

Hey whats everyone up to on this horribly windy, rainy, non doggy friendly day..... :p How did everyones dogs cope with the thunder, all good here, Lacy got on the bed and went back to sleep after the biggest clap woke us up and the rest didnt even bat an eye!! RJ, hows tricks havent seen you on for a while and Tenties, what you been up to?? Pandii, I was suprised with Dante yesterday, she seemed very casual about all the dogs, I reckon you shoudl bring her on lead one day on one of our walks and see how she goes. Hows he recall if you let her off?? Munchin have you moved yet? was it this weekend? I hope not what a crap weekend to be shifting. Hope we can organise another walk soon, although I think from now on the good days may be few and far between well at least thats what it feels like at the moment!! If the weather is nice on Thurday me and Maws are going to go to thunder point if anyone wants to come along. We havent made a time yet, if it is really sunny we will probly just do Albert park.

Just a couple of happy snaps for my doggy diary from yesterday, we had a play date with some of my friends from work, I took way to many as usual. Lacy saying hello to Bella the beagle the happy boys Cooper and Sparky, my friends little terrier, hes about 11 and had a ball with all the young dogs!!

Great shots TN, especailly love the capsule one, great depth of field!!

Love ASD, I am extremley lucky to be living here, we have a great dog beach and fabulous walkng tracks and a couple of great off leash areas. My hubby always says, these dogs dont know how lucky they are!!
-
TN, great shots, I love the colors in the folders and still think that injection look scary!! I agree about Cooper, its funny I get so many comments on how he looks like such an old wise soul!! and he is exactly like that in real life, its like hes been here before, he is very different than the younger 3 in personality and nature, they are all different really but he stands apart from them even more so, Ill have to have a hunt around for a sherlock hat and a pipe, He'd love it, he is so patient with having his picture taken!! Anyway ive been a bit slack too here is mine from yesterday, and another old man and the sea shot!!
-
No they dont usually need as much as what we had today the walk this morning at the park would have been enough but on my days off I guess I tend to over compensate for the days I work, even though I do walk them before work for at least 1/2 hour off lead. But also I really enjoy taking them out and about and love to see them having so much fun, I only took them to the park (Brierly) on the way home cause they had been in the car for a hwile while I did a little shopping, so let them stretch thier legs before we went home, we dont have a humoungous back yard, it is big enough for 4 but they do need to go out for a run. Ill have to post a pic of our dog run (that we never use!!) Anyway I try to give them at the very least one hour a day, but now that it is dark early it is harder after work. RJ, where were you today, havent heard from you for a while!! and Tenties hope all is well with you!!

Great shots CM especially like the second one, we had some fun in the sand to day too, have to upload mine shortly, Will have to say mine are getting pretty sick of all lining up for a photo, so they are not as focused on me as they were at the start, I think the novelty has worn off!!
