Thats great, How does Barkly like the clippers, My lot are all great, my pup actually lays down and goes to sleep when I clip him its hilarious, but can be a pain when I want him to stand up, he is so chilled out!! Poodle 3081-Thanks re: the sharpening, I will definalty look into getting a second blade, good idea if the clippers get blunt during a clipping, as I usually do my lot over two days two each day.

Afraid Of Thunder - Help Please
tlc replied to blackborder's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
When my lot were pups all but one, I took them to fireworks displays and while the fireworks were going off, I fed treats and acted completely normal and none of them are afraid of thunder or fireworks, they all sleep through. the one that has a tiny issue is the only one that I didint desensitise (sp) as a pup. Definalty good advice from Erny and also ignoring and going about your daily/nightly chores as if nothing is going on is the best thing you can do!! Good luck!! -
Hi, I have just finished reading this thread and havent seen any of your previous threads but I just wanted to add, have you ever watched Cesar Millan (dog whisperer) he lives by the rules excersise first, discipline then affection, and it really does make sense, I understand what you are saying about humanising the dog it is so easy to do and Im sure we have all been guilty of it at one point or another in our lives. When you say that you give Henschke a 20 minute walk in the morning is it on or off lead? If he could expend a bit more energy he may be more settled while your not there. Also with regards to training, we have had people come to our obedience and if they are show dogs they dont make them sit when you halt in a heeling routine as it does make it harder for them to stand when shown as they are used to sitting all the time. One lady doesnt make her dog sit at all, he is standing all the time. someone mentioned tricks also a good way for them to do a bit of thinking type of work. How big is your back yard? could you set up a few agiltiy type obsticles for him to have some fun with?? Sorry if this has all been suggested before and good luck with Henschke. I would think Medicating him would definatley be a last resort.

Well nothing planned really I usually decide on the day where Im gonna go, but will probly steer clear of Albert park because of the horses, and there will probly be a lot of poo around as they had a pony club meet the other day. Might take the pups for a run then take em down the board walk!!

Hi Luke, I have the whal ss with the 10 blade and the stainless steel guide combs, they are fantastic clippers and with having 4 they have to be up tot he challenge and they are!! A bit OT but can anyone tel me how many clips should I do before I should get the blade sharpened??
-
I have the km ss and I have the SS attachments and they work perfectly fine with the 10 blade. What was the reason that they would be better with a 30?? I love them, before I had the plastic ones on my old clippers and they were ok but not a patch on the Stainless ones they are fab!! Mine clippers came with the attachmets as a kit.

Geez how dumb am I, I was posting inthe b & W thread and seen your first pic the fuzzy thing, and I didnt look at the name and thought it was Iltbys photo....LOL then I looked at the name and thought to myself, what a great close up and then thought it was unusual as I hadnt seen any close ups of yours to date....LOL Should have realized you might have had a new lense, how awesome, You have a canon right?? I would love a macro lense but wouldnt have a clue about what to get, I think I have said before my 18 - 250 says it is Macro but I dont understand how it can be a long zoom and be macro at the same time?? Anyway Looks like you have got yourself a good deal and the photos are fantastic, looking forward to seeing more!!

Hey Pandii, I forgot to ask how long do you have off between your 4 week blocks?? Also I dont think it would be successful doing both clubs say harris street for 4 weeks then brierly in you off time, only because I think it would be a little confusing for the dogs. Although some might cope quite well?? Also could be a conflict of interest with some of the training methods?? I have only done agility at harris street so I dont now how you would go??

Our training sessions run almost all year round, with the exception of special events like say easter some long weekends, million paws walk day, so there is the occasional weekend off every now and then. Also over the xmas period we do have a break from around the start of December to the middle of January and that is the biggest break of the year. We have one fully qualified trainer who has been training dogs for over 25 years and 3 assistant trainers who have trained under her and gone on to train puppies and general classes under her guidance. we use the gentle modern method, which is food rewards and all positive reinforcments. No chocker chains allowed and no punishment methods to be used at all. It cost $6 a week and you pay as you go if you dont come to training you dont pay. The dogs have off lead socailization and it is up to the individual dog owners to watch their dogs and act accordingly should a problem arise. If your not comfortable with your dog off lead, they can stay on lead. If you have an older dog and want to start at our club you have to have a one on one session with one of the trainers which last for about an hour and they take you through the methods we use and see how your dog is obedience wise and socially and if suited to come along to weekly sessions. The one on one is a cost of $40. If you have a puppy then you just ring up and book in and turn up and I think it is $60 for a 6 weeks session, dont quote me on the cost, it may be less?? Our club is not a very big club with some weeks only having as little as maybe 10 people but then there is days like today where we had around 15 could have been more i didnt count. So then our lessons are the well behaved dog program, which is a government approved program that involves all things to set your dog up for good manners and to just be generally well behaved, car saftely, meal time manners, nice heeling, sits, stands, drops, stays, out of sight waits, recall, and a few other things. It can take a short time or a long time with the well behaved program as it is really up to yourself with how much practice you want to put in at home. When you pass the well behaved program you go up to class one, which is more of the same heel work, sits, stays, drops, recalls, right and left about turns, retrieving and more. then the same again depending how good the dog is as to how soon you can go up to the next level but you do have to pass an assesment to be able to go up to the next level. If you are coming from another club, you will be required to do the well behaved dog program to begin with and like I said say in your case Pandii and you bought Seb chances are he woudl be good at all the well behaved stuff so you could wizz through it in a couple of weeks. Im not sure if you talked to Patricia, she may let you start off in class one, but i think if you did start at a new club starting at the start is a good idea and it gives you a good foundation to start with in a new environment. I hope I havent left anything out. If you want Patricas number let me know and Ill pm it to you, there is no training as such now for 2 weeks as next week is a fun day and all proceeds go to breast cancer foundation, also it is mothers day. and the week after is the million paws walk weekend so no training that sunday either. Our club also gets not help from the local council apart from them letting us use thier oval to train on and give us use of a stinky old shed to put our old equipment in. and we are mostly non profit, all the money basically goes back in to the club. Anyway thats all I can think of for now.

Thanks so much RD, I am thinking to frame will probly be the go, but I am not making any plans yet as it is only in the pipe line and could possibly not even happen, so Im not getting my hopes up. I do tend to agree with you regarding the canvas prints. I will go to a framers when the time comes and have a talk to them and see what they would recommend also, we have a couple here in town and I know one will do a great job. also i want my pics to look good but dont want to have to spend a fortune on something I may never use again but if they are in frames then I can just put them up at home. Thanks again for the responses!!

For me or the dogs?? I know the dogs eat a lot more healthy than I do!! Hubby is always saying "oh gee what are the dogs having for tea, huh they get fed a lot better than me!!" :p My lot always sleep inside although, occasionally Tully will decide she wants to go outside in the middle of the night and lay on the outside couch, which she did last night at 2am I was up at 4 so went to see if she wanted to come back in and she woke up off the couch it had been raining and she must have been so tired she didnt move she was soaked through. After all the bike riding yesterday and our walk in the morning, my little fatty girl slept from 8.30 till 8.30 this morning she didnt move a muscle all night.... we have been again this morning, just to albert park and got 4 laps in before it rained, the bike is great fun!!

Thanks so much for all the info, the reason I asked about saving the file at the larger size is if I wanted to take it to the photoshop to get it printed out. I only use small quality files for here and other sites, but to print out I just put the pics on a usb key and away I go. With photoshop I just go to save or save as if I wanna keep the original file as well, but I couldnt figure out how to do the same thing with light room. I exported back to my pictures then upload them to photobucket and that was when I noticed how small they were, like I said very simailar to picassa which is what I usually use to get the pics smaller and then upload them to photobucket. Im definatly gona like light room, it is just to get the time to have a really good play with it. Thanks again so much for all the info. its a great help!

LOL, its funny I thought my legs would be sore, but they are good, my butt is a little sore but not as bad as I thoguht it would be. Ive decided to stick with Albert park for a while till they are really used to it as I think the track at Thunder point may be a bit skinny for me and all the dogs. And hubby thinks I should still walk them at Thunder point as they love to explore. He was however worried about my little fat girl he said I should be careful she doesnt have a heart attack!! I think it will do her the world of good and hopefully she will lose a few kilos!! Me too!!

Ok since it is the last day of April, I thought id try to make a bit more of an effort, I have done the same thing before and I really liked the out come so I thought id try it again, and this time I edited in light room only very basic antique greyscale and darkend them a little, thats all I can work out how to do so far....lol anyway here they are Me and Cooper Jay Me and Bronson Cooper and Lacy Me and Lacy ' and the last one is me and Tully, she is usually the one to buck the system so it isnt a real good one, but i edited it Picassa just to see what the difference was like and thier is no comparison!!
-
Hi Guys, you will never guess what I did this arvo with my lot. I took them up to Albert park with my bike and I rode around the park, a few slow laps and a few fast laps, bearing in mind I havent been on my bike in about 4 years, so what a sight, but the dogs absolutley loved it, they just ran beside me like they have been doing it all thier life think they will sleep well tonight. Thanks Pandii and maws for the excellent walk this morning, Im going back in the morning but im taking the bike this time, it shoudl be fun will be able to go up and back a couple of times I think!! The whole reason behind the bike is to get my little fat girl running, she needs to lose a couple of kilos and this is a good way for her to do it and Im sure it wont do me any harm either!!

Kristen, can I ask you a queston about light room and it is probley so simple it is staring me in the face. When I edit a pic in PS once ive finished I just flattent he image and save or save as if I wanna keep the original right, so with light room I worked out how to export the pictures back to my pictures so I can upload them to photobucket etc but once you export they are automatically smaller in size like under 1 MB the same as how it works in picassa. So what I was wondering is how can I save the image back to its original folder or location and keep the file size large?? Also is there a way to be able to add the same processing to every photo at once?? I must go and do some tutorials and find tings out for myself I know but im hoping these two questions are easy ones to answer. thanks so much but if you dont have time thats fine too.

If it pans out i was thinking just plain mounts to suit the pictures. Your last sentence sounds great but I havent got a clue what your talking about. can you expalin a bit more, it sure sounds good

Wow you make it so easy might have to have a play, thanks for the info!!

Thanks Ash, I think if this exhibition goes ahead from what I understand it is for photographers around the town to exhibit thier work and thier is no age limit, so anyone can put thier photos in. I should find out more details soon. Oh I just noticed your siggy, Congratulations on getting married!!
-
Hi Guys, I was just wondering for the photographers out there that have had thier work displayed or in an exhibition, how do you display your photos. Are they mounted or framed or do you have them done on canvas?? If you have a space in an exhibition with other photographers do they allow you a certain amount of space? I guess it depends on how much space you have as to how big to make your photos. A friend and a keen photographer is getting involved with other photographers around our town and they are looking into having an exhibition and he asked me if I would like to put some of my photos in it. I hope it does come about, not sure if it will or not but just want to have an idea about how to go about displaying my photos, my friend seems to think it will be up to the individual photographer as to how you want to display your own photos! Id love to hear from anyone who has had anything to do with presenting photos to the public and how to go about it. Thanks!!
