Cute pups Tenties, you must be over run with Puppy breath atm!! Do all the pups have homes to go to yet?? Just wondered if anyone is interested in a walk in the afternoon tomorow (sunday) I will be at training till about 12.30 as we have a meeting after training tomorow but would be able to go after that. I was thinking of Thunder point. Of course depending on the weather, if it is raining, Ill give it a miss as I have a rotten cold.

Cant help with eother of these brands in those particaular sizes, but I have the Tamron 18 - 250 and I dont like it at all, not sure if others have had similar experiences but I find it slow and sluggish and seem to always revert back to my kit lense of 18 - 135 so much faster. Maybe Im not doing something right so if anyone has any lense tips for me to try id be wrapped. I should have saved the extra few hundred and went with the nikon lense. I also have the nikon 50mm 1.8 and it is a great lense at a cheap price!! There is a thread in the photo section with all the pics form everyones 50 mm

Owner Behaviour More Influences Dog Behaviour, Than Breed

We were talking about punishment, not tools. It is not fair to imply she does not use punishment. Plenty of people have strong views about training tools, including crates. Crates are deeply unpopular in some parts of the world and with some people. Perhaps because they have seen them misused often enough that they've lost their faith in people's ability to use them properly. I use crates, before anyone decides that I am a crate-hating tree hugging hippy I think some people make up thier minds about crates before knowing or seeing the benifits. I was one of them. I always thought they were cruel, until my pup came along. He cried for the first 2 nights solid and I mean solid no break, so on day three I went and got him a crete and we never looked back and now 18 months later he still sleeps in it, and I must admit i have just moved it from next to the bed so now he is over the other side of the room and I can get out of bed with out stubbing my toe on the corner of the crate My other 3 dogs were just angels and settled in so well no crying etc so I never needed to crate them and just thought what is all the hype about crates Pfffft who needs them, I have certainly changed my tune now. I did and do only use the crate for sleeping not for toilet training, I prefer to teach them to go outside, mine ring a bell if I'm not in the room so I know they need to go to the loo. But getting back to the crates I have had a lot of people say to me Gee is Bronson still in the crate to sleep don't you think he is a bit old for that??? Some people have even told me it is cruel to have him sleep in there??? Perfect example of people not understanding how it all works. And it is just a case of what works for some dogs doesn't always work for others, Just like training. -
some pics form yesterday. it was a very dog day, first thing I met Shannon and Migs at Thunder point for a morning walk then off to have lunch with RJ and Junior RJ we had a picnic and the dogs found lots of nice mischief to get into!! then home to meet my dad and then off to the dog park where we met up with some other doggy buddies. Home then for the pups to have a bath and yumo pizza for tea. It was a great day!! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1239...mp;l=830f28e9fb

Owner Behaviour More Influences Dog Behaviour, Than Breed
tlc replied to mita's topic in General Dog Discussion
I just mean the owner being a naturally highly strung person. Also I agree with the wrong type of dog for the person, prime example, I did a one on one private lesson with a lady the other day she has a 8 month old beagle with only basic puppy school (4 weeks) and nothing since, she thought it about time she taught him something as he is destructive, pulls on the lead, destroys the garden, boisterous etc etc the list goes on. On asking 101 questions I find out she just liked the look of a beagle and really that was the soul reason she got him. She harly walks him and she is gone from the house a lot and he spends a lot of time on his own. It was a typical Cesar moment when I said to her the dog neewds excersise discipline and then affection. He was a lovely boy he played nicely with my lot and had a great nature, but no manners at all. While we stood talking he jumped up and I told her to ignore him, so then he started to nip and bite at her clothes and i said ignore or step out of his way no talking and no eye contact, so then when he got nothing out of it he started humping her leg... I was like do you let him get away with that? She said I just dont know what to do with him. Anyway thumbs up to her for finally doing something to help the dog and herself and after our lesson she went away not feeling so hopeless and she came to training on Sunday and her and the dog both enjoyed it immensley and in this case definatly a case of owners behaviour influencing the dogs behaviour, but easily fixable. A different scenario than a highly strung persons behaviour influencing the dogs behaviour. -
Owner Behaviour More Influences Dog Behaviour, Than Breed

Just a quick question for the dog trainiers of the forum, Nekhbet, Cosmolo and others, do you notice a lot of instances at training where if the dogs owner is hyper and highly strung the dog seems to be as well?? I notice it all the time, time and time again we have owners with dogs who you would expect to be quite ok behaviour wise and they just arent and you take particular notice of the owner and realize that the dog is basically mirroring the owners behaviour and I find that is a really hard thing to combat cause how do you change the way people are or the way they act. I just feel sorry for the poor dogs. So I definaltly agree with owners behaviour influencing dogs behaviour over breed. -
Sorry to hear your on crutches, hope it is not to serious!! Ill miss your pics they always entertain me, your shots are awesome, hope youll be back in action soon!!
-
Good start Do it again with a longer exposure. Double the amount of time you had last time and see how you go. ;) Ash, whats the max exposure you can usually have?? I use max exposure on mine only gives me about 5 sec Do you mean you can only get your shutter to stay open for 5 seconds??? I have been just setting my camera on S (shutter priority) and letting the camera set the apeture, that way I can set it form anywhere up to 30 seconds.

Yes they were not to bad, the ones of Migs so funny!! Tez was at Puppies, she ll be there at 10 next week, so I said if the weathers nice maybe we might be able to have a walk after, but I think I remember you saying you were working??? Anyone else wanna walk Sunday arvo if the weathers nice?? I edited my original post, and didint even realize I had written TP instead of Logans. I didnt notice if Sammy had a bung eye, Ill go back through the photos and have a look, I took so many. I noticed there is a sign down there now to stay keep your distance from him as he will bite and not to feed him. Poor Sammy, Id love to take him some fish!! Will definatly catch up re the pics and I can give you the better ones on a stick for sure.
-
I liked that one too!! Your shot is excellent, can I ask you what light you used for that one, Im having trouble getting a concerntrated light source.
-
its funny once you do it a few times it does kind of get addictive and you look for more things to shoot, just for something different, it is amazing what looks good. I have really enjoyed doing the outside stuff and it is great to do it with someone else who is interested too!! Definatly use the tripod makes it a lot easier!!
-
In this next pic, the dogs were doing a stay in the centre of a circle with the handlers on the outside, Shan and Miggs are in the pic but you cant see Miggs she is on the other side of Shannon. just realized you can see my shadow taking the pic!! One more cold and windy shot of Cooper Jay!! and then tonight he was still worn out and has slept most of the afternoon.
-
Jane and Bruno were having a great play and Cooper would run in have a little bark and hope they would stop but he didnt deter them, they were having so much fun!!
-
The next lot are not crash hot pics, but they show how much fun the doggies were having today at obedience. There was My Cooper, Tez's Jane, Tanyas Bruno, Shannons Mawson, and all the other obedience doggies.

A couple of our resident marine life Sammy and we were lucky enough to see a whale when we were at Logans Beach, not the best pics but not bad all the same.

Hi Guys, just thought id post a few pics of our furkids here that Ive taken over the past few days. This was my 4 on Friday when it was freezing, they all had thier coats on cause it was soooooo cold, we still had a great run!! Miss Migaloo, honing in on a dog up the beach.... Mawson, looking very dapper!! he was looking a bit peeky in this one too much salt water... My lot greeting RJ and Boof,
-
Here are a few of my favorites from tonight. Cooper had a big morning at obedience and was still exhausted tonight, so I took advantage... I think the torch was annoying him a bit on this one he had buried his head!

Some of Mine from last night, they are similar to RJ's Just took some of a very tired fella, will post them shortly. Is it my imagination or is everyone slowing down in this thread, it was really building momentum but seems to have dropped off!!
