It's a good little camera. It has a Leica lens, which is apparently very good. The TZ7 has a wide angle lens, so that should be handy for this month. I can vouch for the panas also before I got my Nikon, I had a pana fz 20 then upgraded to the pana fz50 the Leica lens are awesome!!

My first 3 never cryed at all at night, but my 4th boy how different he was screamed blue murder for the first 2 nights solid, so on the 3rd day I got him a crete and we never looked back, he is 19 months old now and still sleeps in it. I was never a lover of cretes until my 4th but I can really see how some pups benifit from them. Good luck. Ps make sure if you decide to get a crete that you get one that he wont grow out of, so down the track if you still want to use it you don't have to fork out more $

I Think I've Missed Something Here...
tlc replied to persephone's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We still do pass the puppy at obedience in the puppy class. I think some dogs just handle it better than others and probly depends also on early experiences for the dog. My youngest, there is no way anyone else could take him even for a short demo. But my other 3 would be fine with it. My oldest girl has been taken in a class by a 5 year old handler under my supervision of course. and they both did very well!! It was a good experience for both child and dog, I had to laugh at the end of the class as I was told by the 5 year old that I had to thank her for training my dog so well Lacy was a trooper she just went with it and responded well to the little girls right but unco signals. edited to add, it is not our usual practice to have young handlers (13 year old minimum age) but on this particular day the class had only 3 people in it and one of those people was the girls mother, the other person was a trainer and the other person was along time member, and all were ok with it and my girl or the 5 year old didnt have to sit in the car for 45 mins. So all good. -
Geez all this breeding and showing sounds like hard work to me. My hat goes off to dog breeders as you said JJ sometimes more heart ache than joy!!

Hi Tanya, yes it was pickles Cooper had a great play with him today, he is always very good with puppys but not a big player but he had a great time with him today, he is a great little dog and who ever gets him once he has finished his training will be a very lucky person indeed!! Geez, Cavalblaze sounds like you have had a really rough trot, hope that the future see you having more luck than you have had in the past. Is the doggy in your signature one of yours?? She is very cute!

Hi PP, My pup who is now 19 months old, does exactly the thing you described practically everytime we walk past a house with a dog behind a fence especially if the other dog is barking and carrying on. My other 3 are non reactive if they can only hear a dog behind a fence when on lead, they all just cruize past but not the pup he just starts to cry and whimper like he is petrified, which is so wierd as he has been welll socialized and is very bossy with the rest of my pack. What I usually do to combat it is (sometimes hard if i have all 4 on lead) either keep walking at a brisker pace or if I am able stop get him to sit and focus on me and use the leave it command and then off we go again. This has worked really well but I think the thing with us is we dont do a lot of lead walking we mostly go where they can run off lead, so when we get in these situations it is like he has to learn not to react all over again, which makes it hard. I have also used treats in the same circumstances and I find that works well too, if I am prepared. What method of training have you used with her? If you are able to take treats with you, take her attention off the agro fence dogs and back onto you and when she is quiet treat her. I also know people who would use a simple collar correction in similar circumstances but personally for a dog that is not being aggressive towards the fence dogs but more frightened a collar correcton I dont think is warranted. Hope this has helped, also consistancy and possibly when you get to a spot where you know she will do it, get to her before it starts with a treat or change of focus. I have walked up and down past a fence with my boy using treats when he is not crying as a reward and he does get it. Good Luck.

R & A and anniek, fab shots to finish off the month. I havent posted much in this challenge but have really enjoyed everyones pictures and this particular shooting into the light has really changed my ideas about how you can achieve different effects. Do we know what next month is yet?? -
Well that all makes a lot of sense, you are typically breeding for the betterment of the breed in looking at each parent dog and choosing two dogs to have pups that will possess the best form both parents. Regardless of show results from any dog, As long as it is tempramentally sound and all the health tests are up to par and the dogs conformation is right then it should be a suitable dog to breed from!! It is all very interesting!! Some of you may remember a while back I mentioned about dog days they have in the uk, I commented on wishing we had more stuff like that here. One of my forum friends from another forum went to one of these dog days and her dog Gypsy is in this video of the day. It looked great making me wish all the more that we have days like that here. I know there is days like that occasionally in Melb and Sydney, I guess they have the people. Gypsy is the doggy at about 2 mins 22 seconds jumping on her back legs. It looked like a great day with all the doggys being well behaved and having a great time!! Some nice looking pooches in the video.
