Oh was that today, I was thinking it was tommorow? How did you go Pandii? Hey Tanya are you going to training tommorow?

I don't think when used appropriately that there is anything wrong with or outdated about corrections or punishment, after all even a stern 'ah ah' is a correction. I don't agree with using corrections/punishment to teach dogs a new behaviour, IMO that's just unfair. I totally agree with you, I am a big fan of Cesar Millans and some of his pack behavioural methods and a few of his other techniqiues have worked wonders with my dogs. Thats also why I also said in my post that some of the dogs we have seen need a firmer hand and are directed to the place that can teach them in the appropriate manner, it is just us as a club do not teach these methods. Some of the techniquies I use on my lot (hardly at all now because they have worked wonders) would be frowned apon by our head trainer but what she doesnt know wont hurt her (she is not a Cesar fan) I do whats best for me and my dogs and I dont care what anyone else says. Like you husky I think when corrections and punishments used are well timed and used appropriatley there is nothing wrong with them!! Just wanted to add the few corrections and "Cesar" techniques I have used on my lot I dont need to use in classes as they have been trained using the modern method, so it is not an issue for me to use the methods our training school condone. I know this sounds like a but of a double edged sword but I have found a happy medium between the two and it works for me!! and thats what Im trying to say about fiding the right method that suits the individual dog. Like in Tess's case Noah, didnt appreciate the manhandling and most dogs that arent used to that wouldnt. I know mine would hate it and probly react in the same way that Noah did.

I dont think I could work in a class where Im not on the same page as the trainier as far as training methods I prefer and that suit my dogs better. The club Im at, as an assistant trainer is very dedicated to only the modern method and anyone that wants to use corrective and punishment methods is not welcome. So with my club it is kind of the opposite, we have had a few come through that have been in the same situation as you at the other club in town and have loved the way we train and it has been great for thier dog. I can totally see where your coming from cause not all methods of training suit every different dog and also I have seen a few come thought that have needed a firmer hand and been made aware of the other club and sent their way because it will suit thier dog better. It sounds to me like this trainier is just about his way or the highway and if he hadn't been man handling your dog and putting him in an uncomfortable position he wouldn't have slipped his collar. Shouldn't it be about the trainers recognizing what they dogs can and cant cope with. I think listen to your intincts and steer clear of this trainer. Maybe even give the other club a go if your able, it might be the best thing you ever did.

I knew someone was bound to notice, very observant Tanya... Well a really good friend of mine had a brainwave yesterday after me having a few bad days with a really wheezy asthmary chest that wouldnt go away she thought I needed the dreaded prednislone (sp) and I had some in the cupboard from last time I needed them, so it was the afternoon and I decided Id start right then and she warned me "they will keep you awake" she said, and Im like "naaaa it'll be right I need to start them now" so there I was didnt go to sleep till about 1am then wide awake at 4am. So thats the reason I was awake so early and what else do you do if your awake at some god aweful hour.....? DOL of course... ;)

Hi Tez, Pickles is 5 months old now and he is a lovely boy, very cruisy with a real layed back nature!!
-
Funny, It is no where near as nice as it was before we had four!! I think cause I take them to the park for excersise they just dont seem to need to run around the back yard. But the big tree with the little bridge under it is thier racing tree, they play chasy around it all the time, they love it so I would hate to see the damage under the tree!!

Master Red looks very cute, What does the white mean? Will he only be able to go to a pet home because of the white? I do remember you saying they are usually all brown? what is the actual correct color for the Vizsla is it red, brown, gold??

Pandii, I asked our full time paint guy today about the furniture stuff and he said basically the same as me, he has never heard of any product that is a one coat system, and agreed with me if it was a product that you wet the timber first it is definatley something water based. If you can find out any more info or what it is called let me know and ill see if I can find out some more but without a name it is hard to follow up on. If you want a cheaper way to clean the setting you can use bleach something like napisan is great as it has the bleachign properties in it, just make up a solution of napisan and water and a scrubbing brush and away you go. once you have cleaned it then all you need to do is wash it down with warm water and let it dry and you can oil it or stain it if you want to bring smoe color back into it. The stain is still oil based so it still protects but if you like the color it is once you have cleaned it you can just oil it using a natural oil. Sometimes the bleach can make it look a little washed out so a stain can be refreshing to give it a bit of life back. Hope this has been helpful!! JJ glad to hear the puppies are doing well! I havent seen hide nor hair of Tenties!!

Here it is cheap too, all types for the same price 8kg for $18

Can Anyone Tell Me What This Is Please?
tlc replied to Baby Dragon's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Does she do it all the time? or is it intermittent, did the vet check her nose for a grass seed or obstruction? My youngest was doing this the other day after he woke up but it only lasted about 40 seconds and he never did it again?? -
