  1. I always cover at least part of my crates (makes it more den-like). In summer I use something light and in winter I use a couple of blankets.
  2. How exciting BooBooBear, I bet you can't get to sleep tonight, lol. I put Charlie by my bed in a crate as a pup (he and Leah both still sleep in crates beside my bed) and he whimpered one time so I put my fingers through the bars for a minute and that was it. No crying at all. I'm with Poodlefan. A crate in your bedroom, or at least very close by, would be a great solution.

  10. Sending healing vibes and prayers for Grover. Hang in there, gorgeous boy....
  11. What brilliant news!!! Hope Grover's feeling 100% very soon.
  12. Very true! ILBB, please don't blame yourself and try not to let it spoil the happiness you felt before you heard about her breeder. You have a beautiful little pup and luckily for her, she's been chosen by a family that will love her and take good care of her. Enjoy her, she looks like an absolute darling.
  13. I like the crate that TerraNik posted. I have ones like that. Two doors makes it more versatile and the metal crates allow good airflow for summer (just use a light cover at one end so it's still like a den) and heavier blankets in winter.
  14. He sounds very smart and quite a little character. As soon as I started reading, I just thought "you just need a crate". Have it by your bed so he's close by and he won't be able to throw anything out.
  15. Oh Bustam, I'm so terribly sad for you. You tried so hard and for so long without ever giving up hope, to bring Mahli home again. Big hugs to you. Rest in peace sweet Mahli.
  16. Good luck for tomorrow Loraine. Sending postive thoughts for Zedley, I hope it's nothing too serious.
  17. RIP dear little Miss Molly. What a beautiful little girl you are. Run free sweetheart, forever young.
  18. RIP Yoko. I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful old girl Poodlemum.
  19. RIP Maggie-Moo, what an amazing girl you were!!! It sounds like you really kept your mum on her toes, bless your little heart.
  20. Darling sweet little Lucy, we'll miss seeing new photos and videos of you in the ckcs thread. We've followed your short life for many months now, watching you grow, hearing of your antics and watching videos made by your mum who loved you so completely. I hope that over the Rainbow Bridge there's the longest beach for you to run free along, chasing seagulls and smiling your huge beautiful smile. Carla and Marc, you are in my thoughts and my heart is aching for you both. You kindly gave your little girl her wings and now your little angel will watch over you forever.
  21. Seashell, I think you're doing the right thing and just need to persevere. Maybe take Toffee outside a little more often and really praise and treat like he's done something wonderful when he gets it right. If it continues and you don't start to see some improvement, you may need to limit the areas that Toffee can roam so that you can keep a closer eye on him. Sally, I think you need to block access to most of the house and only extend it gradually as you see some improvement. That way your pup can't sneak off to a quiet place when you're not looking. You might also need to think about much more regular toilet stops, starting with every half hour and straight away after waking up, playing, eating. In other words, go right back to basics. If you are home during the day, you could use the crate to toilet train which means that you bring the crate into the main living area during the day and pup goes into the crate any time that you are not 100% focussed on him. When you're ironing, cooking etc. pup goes into the crate. Every hour you take pup out and go straight out to the toilet. If you're busy, pup goes straight back into the crate but if you have time you can have a play together or let him snuggle on your lap to watch tv, whatever, then, take pup for out another wee, and straight back into the crate. If you're consistent, it will work sooner rather than later. Best of luck.
  22. Jed, what a beautiful tale of Poppy's life. She sounds like she was the sweetest girl who lived a very happy and fortunate life. Run free Poppy you sweet little mouse catcher. Jed, I'm so sorry, biggest hugs to you.
  23. Good to hear that Shiraz is eating properly again. I'd go easy on the meat roll - they tend to be pretty fattening and aren't all that healthy, maybe now that he's eating again you could gradually replace the roll with some raw chicken mince to feed with the kibble. Don't forget to come and say "hello" on the ckcs thread.
  24. I never set an alarm. Just took him out when he called.
