  1. I'm following this thread closely and keeping everything crossed for the handsome guy. Be strong Chase. I'm looking forward to hearing that you're out of the woods and that your mum can breathe a sigh of relief and get some much needed rest.
  2. Kaffy, Chase is one very lucky boy to have a family like yours. Sending him all the best and lots of prayers that all goes well today and that he lives to be a very old man who was worth every cent, many times over.
  3. I'm so sorry there's been a downturn Kaffy, I'll keep Chase in my prayers tonight. Hang in there handsome boy, you've got lots of years of mischief and fun ahead of you. That's lovely of you BB.
  4. What wonderful news! I hope Chase is back to his normal self soon.
  5. Thoughts and prayers for you and your gorgeous boy Kaffy. Hoping and praying that he gains strength during the night.
  6. What a gorgeous girl. I hope she settles in well and enjoys the rest of her life in a loving home.
  7. I always have poo bags with me - if they need to go, they can go, I don't have any problem with it.
  8. Thank heavens for the good news update Julzjc!! I'm so pleased things are on the up. Hope you're feeling better soon.
  9. Oh dear. I keep checking in and still no update. I do hope and pray that everything's okay.
  10. Great! Thanks for the update, I was wondering when they'd be ready.
  11. Good luck talking to the owners PoppyDog, I hope they're nice people. Re: anyone leaving their dog with another for company, someone on the cav thread had a neighbours dog keep coming onto her property when it's owners were out so now it comes over to stay for the day sometimes and runs around with her dogs but I'd have to really know a dog before I felt comfortable with something like that.
  12. The owners definitely need to know, the poor dog won't be safe out on the road. It breaks my heart to think of any dog left tied up in a garden but knowing how much Cavaliers crave human attention and affection, I can only imagine how utterly miserable it must be if this is how it spends it's days.
  13. OMG, what stress!!!! I'm so glad it turned out all right though.
  14. My thoughts and prayers are with you Julzjc. Hoping for a very positive outcome for your lovely Bonnie and Indie.
  15. Wonderful pics Jed, the dogs all look so well cared for. I'm so looking forward to the day that we hear that you're going to be reunited with them all again. Lol @ the enthusiastic welcome with the camera crew there. I do hope I get to see that on tv - I'll be sure to have my tissues ready. ;)
  16. Charlie has a couple of special friend toys that he humps when the need arises. On occasion he stands uncomfortably for a couple of minutes or so afterwards until he can sit down and sort himself out. I talked to the vet about it who said not to worry but it did have me really concerned the first time I noticed it. I haven't had to intervene on any occasion thankfully.
  17. It's impossible to peel a banana in this house (not a noisy activity by any stretch of the imagination) without both dogs waking up from what appeared to be a deep sleep and rushing to the kitchen.
  18. OMG, how gorgeous!!!! What a lovely menagerie.

    Digging

When Charlie was a pup I tried a few different methods, the most successful until he eventually grew out of the behaviour, was to put his own poo into each hole as he dug them and cover it back over with dirt. We had a small garden though, so it was easy to maintain this method but if you have a big area, perhaps that wouldn't work so well? There was one area that he liked to dig up best so we laid down some of that plastic mesh and pinned it down with tent pegs. I also tried a couple of different products that were supposed to deter digging but they didn't work (I've also heard of putting cayene pepper down). Another method was to shake a can of small stones every time he started digging but this meant I had to always watch him when he went outside and I had to remain hidden so that he didn't realise the noise was coming from me - this one worked for a little while. In addition to this, we went for two walks a day and trained each day. If the digging is caused by boredom you might try giving pup some boredom buster type toys and I'd also think about the sandpit idea mentioned earlier. Good luck with it, I hope the digging doesn't last for too long.
  20. Happy 11th birthday Gypsy. What a beautiful girl you are!! :D
  21. Hi Jed, great to see you checking in. :D I've been wandering about Kitty, so glad to hear that she's doing so well. Well done to Goldchow, what a wonderful friend, taking such good care of your cavs and it's so nice to hear that the cavs in turn are looking after Chi Chi. ;) What a gorgeous picture you posted there, it took me a few seconds to tear my eyes away from Travis, lol but OMG your boxer pups are super cute!

  23. My two aren't interested in spending time outside on their own either. They'll stay out there if I'm doing some gardening or hanging out the washing, but otherwise they prefer to be indoors. We have a doggy door but they only use it to go out and toilet and then they come straight back in. Having said that we do walk twice a day. Have you considered taking the dogs out in the car to a safer spot to walk them? Or driving to a family member/friends house and visiting them and walking the dogs whilst you're there? Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much. It sounds like they just enjoy being inside. When Charlie was a puppy, he stayed at his trainers house for a few days whilst we were on holiday and she said that he didn't seem to know what to do when he went outside, that he should get used to spending more time on his own out there but I've never considered it a problem, it's not like he doesn't ever go outside, he just chooses to spend most of his time inside, and Leah is much the same.
