  1. I was told by a knowledgeable friend (not a vet) to keep my boy on the Protexin for the rest of his life to keep his tummy happy. I have not heard anything bad about it so I will keep giving it to him. As Clyde said though, I also would change the kibble if you don't see any improvement. The Protexin is not a miracle worker (pretty darn good though) and some dogs do react to different ingredients in their food. That sounds reasonable to me, especially since my little guy seems to have a sensitive tummy. I'm fortunate that the kibble is what he does the best on (no problems at all). I'm feeding him Eagle Pack Puppy Holistic at $100 or so a bag, so it darned well better be good! It's when I raw feed him that he has trouble. I'm hoping this will help with that, as I would like to primarily raw feed him. Cheers, Dorothy
  2. Thanks so much Panda and Pomquest! Your replies were very helpful. One other question I have is, do you give this to your dogs long term? It sounds like some of you do give it to them ongoing whether they have issues or not. I'm kind of leaning toward getting a 250g at this point, in case it doesn't do the trick for Satchel so I'm not stuck with a big tub that I don't need. I guess I can always start with that, and then get the 1kg tub next time. Thanks again! Dorothy
  3. I'm glad I found this thread. My 6mo old Airedale pup has had a delicate digestive system since we had to blast him with antibiotics to take care of a UTI when he was 2 months old. I feel like a dork, as I'm taking probiotics, but it just occurred to me that he probably needs them too! I want to raw feed him, or at least partially, but he gets diarrhea really easily with anything raw. There was a comment about the usable life span of the Protexin powder. Can someone tell me what that is? I'm trying to decide whether to get 250g or a kg. The kg is a much better deal, but not if I won't use it up before it's rendered no longer usable. Thanks, Dorothy
