assuming that every one knew as much as trainers knew then there wouldnt be any problem with e collars but as you being a good trainer would know that that there are alot of people who would use em incorrectly!
-
I assume alot but no disrespect intended,i do own a massive hard nose dog though
-
having a big dog who would quicker bite and is head strong, i thought about e-collars, and wanted just to know if i was being lazy or if it was warrented, this just an experience i shared on this thread. everyone has opinions and posts there experiences for those genuine users of dol some we agree on and some we dont, but what you just posted is testiment to the disrespect you treat other dol users.
-
In this case, did it not help in keeping the dog away from what could have been a fatal situation?? It did, i agree with you. people on dol are very quick to take you out of context though, everyone wants an opinion but will shoot you down in flames if you dont agree with them, my thought was to use it as a last resort kind of thing, but not everyone has the time to spend with ther dog to use other methods.

Just one thing bout what you said, you dont punish dogs, you should discipline them, and correct there ways. As i said im not against them, like i said about snakes ect there are circumstances where the dogs life is in jepordy.

Shock collars are for use for people whom dont have time to train there dog properly and positive reinforce their dogs good behavour. Or people who dont know much about dog behavour and want to "shock it" in to submission. kind of like a quick fix option. Being calm and adsertive towards your dog brings calm submissive behavour from them but to achieve this means that time and patience has to be given to your dog. Im not against shock collars or for them either but reminding owners that they chose to have their dogs and therefore in the best interest of there dogs they deserve the time to be trained in a non quick fix manor. I own the biggest fastest asshole of a dog and when he ran off i used to think, wouldnt it be good to shock him because he frustrated me so much when he defied me but i knew how to fix him but it wouldnt be easy, should i shock him or should i do the hard yards? i did the hard yards without shock and he is calm happy dog. so i guess the option is: shock em because im lazy or dont know what to do or do i put time into my dog and slowly iron out the bad behavour. Its a choice an owner can only make for their own dog. I did see training with shock collars to train dogs to keep away from snakes, and majority of the time the dog only had to be shocked once and the dog on its next test stayed well clear of the snake.

Dog Obedience Clubs For A Dog Aggressive Dog
Jamaica replied to jaybeece's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Croydon do have a yellow bandanna policy, but its amazing how many people dont know what it means and still dont give you space, but it is a good club with great instructors, there are a few instructors who are really good with aggressive dogs and if you ask then they will not hesitate to help. to be a member there you need up to date vaccinations and it isnt the cheapest club around but your membership allowes you to do agility and has victorias best flyball club, all the training is positive and is done on sundays. -
We may have 2 div one teams, and i prefer to have my dogs one in each team, rather than have both my dogs to make one really fast team because i enjoy running both my dogs, not getting someone else to run one just to win, so should be good, going to be buisy.

Be sure to rug up!, theres going to be about 81 odd races in a day with one minute change overs, 3 heaters, so to get through it we have to be quick, and hope the ejs doesnt play up. It will be good racing though
-
We should stick Flitie on those silly goats, he can unleash hell on em, he wont take crap from em.

I think tia and belle will make great flyball dogs, remember its not just about speed, its about doing something with your dogs, but you get so much satisfaction doing all the hard work and on comp day they do a clean run. herding is totally the oppisite where your dogs need to be calm and methodical(spell check please) and its such an art and so much fun.
