Marrow bones are the best! Keeps my two puppies (1 year old Koolie and 9 month old Border Collie) satisfied indefinately, they can't destroy them at all and will chew on them for weeks (I usually replace them every couple of weeks). Keeps their teeth beautifully clean too. They're cheap too, usually $2- $5 from your local butcher.

Thank you all for your great advise, I'm trying the poo thing (just cleaned the yard a couple of days ago so need to wait for more poo!) and the flag idea looks very interesting too! I'll let you know how I go with it, but by the sounds of it, waiting until they're older might be the best trick. Thank you guys!

My two lovely dogs (a 1 year old Koolie and an 8 month old Border Collie) are driving me crazy at the moment, please help! My partner and I have just made new garden beds for our backyard and filled them with lots of plants but my puppies constantly eat them, dig them up and sleep on them. I have already replaced the plants once and they have just destroyed the second lot. They have plenty of toys, I give them new marrow bones all the time and we walk them daily so they are not just bored, they just love destroying plants more than anything! I have tried strong smelling spray's and granules from Bunning's, this does not deter them at all. I have tried getting angry at them but this hasn't worked either, I can't catch them in the act as they tend to do it when we're not home or asleep. Any other ideas on what I can do to stop them?

Hey, sounds like you've had some progress. Both of my pups are the same - love to jump on everyone - but thankfully are over it now. I found that getting them to sit before they get any attention is a good start, and get angry at them if they do jump. With my pups, they knew that jumping up on people was wrong but they would just get so excited that they couldn't help themselves - you'll probably find like with my pups, that as they get older they learn to have more control of this and get over it. I agree with Christina about the marrow bones, my dogs love them and can keep them entertained for weeks. They're also a cheap option and good for their teeth. Another thing I've found usefull is to have a selection of lots of random types of toys (chew, soft, food type, sqeaky etc) and keep alternating them each day so they don't get sick of one type of toy. Hi, Our 14 week old Koolie puppy is very friendly and absolutely loves people and other animals. Only he gets very excited and loves jumping up on people and licking and play biting them. It's getting to be a bit of a problem as he's getting bigger and he tries to jump up on children and his little teeth are very sharp. How can we stop him from doing this? When he's at home he's very obedient and listens to us. At home we stop him from jumping on us by telling him no and only giving him attention when he's on the ground which has worked really well, but as soon as we're around other people he gets too excited and ignores us. How can we get him to obey us when he gets this excited? He also doesn't come when he's called and other things he knows how to do. Thanks!

Thanks guys, I might lay off the walks until he's older and just take him to the beach every now and then and play with him heaps at home. When do their bones and joints become fully developed?

Hi, We've had our 12 week old Koolie puppy for about 3 weeks now. We take him on lots of walks and to the beach for a run around and play with him heaps at home too. He's usually very tired when we get him home from a long walk but he just loves it so much. I'm just wondering if we could be exercising him too much? Are there any guidlines to how much exercise a puppy should get? Thanks!

Hi, Thank you guys for your help with our new Koolie puppy (Ralphy) and the problem we were having with our 3 cats. They get along pretty well now - they're almost friends! Now we have a problem with him in the backyard digging under the fence. He just loves digging, and there is another dog next door that he's friends with and is constantly trying to get to. Can anyone help with how we can stop him from digging or set up the yard so he can't dig under the fence? Thanks! Steph and Ryan Here's a photo of our happy fella.

Hi, My partner and I have just gotten a new 10 week old Koolie (similar to a Border Collie) puppy (Ralphy) and don't know how to successfully introduce him to the existing 3 cats we already have. The cats so far seem very scared/ aggressive towards him although we have been keeping them separated and only introdusing them when they are both being held. They don't seem to be getting any better with this technique after two weeks. If anything the cats seem to be getting more upset about the situation. Ralphy is a very social puppy and loves jumping all over any new person/ dog he meets which will surely be a problem with the cats if we let them go together. We're mostly worried about the cats hurting Ralphy but I don't want the cats to be affraid of him either. What is the best way we can get all 4 of them living happily together? Thanks!
