Wind (kite surfing): I took this shot to "measure" the amount of light in a photo session I was doing with a friend - the shot was originally going to be my card shot (the queen of hearts) but then I got stuck for a photo on the night I took the shot of Mow in the box: I wanted to make my friend look like she was in a fairytale in the post processing but it didn't start off that way!

Do Relatively Unprotective Dogs 'step Up' If Necessary?
~*Shell*~ replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Zero is not a "run and meet strangers" kind of dog and he's not particularly protective of me. I've had friends scare me, run up behind me and tackle me, pick me up etc and he couldn't care less, even if he doesn't know the person. If we're out on a walk, he's not interested in meeting the people we see, he'd rather sniff and you'll often see him walk towards people but not try to interact with them. That being said, one night when Zero and I were walking through the park, we had a guy step out of the bushes right in front of us. Zero stopped suddenly, planted his feet, dropped his head and growled the most menacing growl I've ever heard. He got his heckles up and the guy backed off as fast as he could without turning and running. I was completely creeped out by the guy and I think Zero knew that. If I'd let him off leash at that point I have no doubt in my mind that Zero would have chased him. So yes, my relatively unprotective dog would definitely step up if the threat was real enough - he somehow knows the difference between me being startled by a friend running up behind me where there is no threat to me and the creeped out, cold chills kind of fear I got when I was fearing for my safety and his. -
How very sad - he was such a wonderful ambassador for the breed. He's changed so many people's opinions about pitbulls. I'm sure Cesar is beside himself right now to have lost his heart dog but probably very happy that he got to spend so much time with him. Junior definitely has some very very big paw prints to fill! Run free Daddy.

Voice Commands Or Hand Signals?
~*Shell*~ replied to tlc's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I use both and I try to make sure Zero knows both the signal and the voice command - he will eventually go deaf though (he goes deaf when he has an ear infection now) so I'm training him to respond to hand signals only. He is very good at it, though in a distracting environment, he needs big signals. -
Zero being good - he's in a stand in heel position
-
For the most part, it's fake Huga - there are a couple of flares in there that were natural but I photoshopped one over the top that was more obvious. Got to love photoshop

That might be the problem. I'll have a go of it tonight and see what I can do. Thanks Kirislin!

I think this is the shot I'm going to be using this week: There's something about it that's just not quite right though - something about it doesn't look "rich" enough for my liking. I might have to have another play around with it.

What are you getting LL?

Typical spitz breed!! If you can't make the trip out to see anyone, I would recommend joining an obedience club. It's a shame you're not closer to us - we go to hills district at castle hill. If it makes you feel better, 2 years ago Zero was a nightmare (before we saw Steve at k9Force) and now we're at obedience training every week to the point where I can have Zero off a leash at training and not worry about it.

I have my "man", "earth" and "wash" photos all sitting on my camera.... I'll probably get to them at some point next week Damn work and it's long hours. Bring on the weekend! And now, bed!

Ruthless Leather Collar/Leash (this would have been prong collar a few months ago but Zero doesn't use his anymore because he doesn't need it ) Crate - K9RoyaleII Forced Air Dryer - Double K Airmax

I'm in the process of doing up a profile for Zero and Jude (my soon to be housemate's dog) that has a little about them. Hopefully Zero will get delta accredited this year so I'll be able to add that as well as getting his CCD - anything that Snot has accomplished (i don't know if you do obedience and those things with him), maybe a note from your current neighbour to say he doesn't nuisance bark, a note from your current landlord to say he hasn't wrecked the place, the fact that he's well taken care of and has had no problems with his behaviour. Definitely put a photo of Snot on there too. That little guy could win anyone over!!

Funny smells in the ear are usually related to ear infections. Is she shaking her head, holding it to one side or scratching at it any more than usual? I know when Zero has an ear infection, he displays no symptoms except his ears have gunk in them (you have to look down his ears to see it) - he doesn't shake his head or scratch at it though he usually doesn't want me to play with the hair in his ears so I can look in it. Different dogs display different symptoms. I would get her down the vet because untreated ear infections can affect their hearing in the long term. Zero had a lot of untreated infections before I got him and now when he gets them he practically goes deaf because he ear canal is so narrow (the walls of the canal thicken when the dog has an ear infection). IMO you can never be too careful. A funny smell could mean something is wrong, even if the dog isn't displaying symptoms.

Damn! That was the idea I was going to use!! Oh well, I guess I'll have to think of another idea now!
-
I'm about to delete everything i'll never use - blurred photo, photos of me pulling stupid faces, the 500 different angles of an inanimate object... then I'm going to redo my photo library!

My advice would be to ask in your local salons - do you have grooming courses at tafe anywhere near you? Don't do the course through cengage. It's crap.

Collecting For The Poor & Needy...
~*Shell*~ replied to persephone's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
By poor and needy, do you mean cute and hungry? I don't think I could resist that! -
Here's one I took for the february photo challenge: Taken with a remote trigger to show "love"
-
Yesterday's shot: Dinner (i thought the corners of the box looked like lips): Today's shot: Love (a photo I meant to take yesterday and couldn't because it was raining - shot was taken with a remote trigger): I really don't have that many left to do! Choke, Man, Upside Down, Earth, Smile, Wash, Stamp, Measure, Wind and Card. Then because Wolfsong and I are doing project 365, I'm also going to do: Epic, Horror and Wild. I have ideas for all of the shots too! Now I just have to find time to do them. "Card" I'm going to do on the weekend because it involves a friend dressing up but the others I could probably do without too much drama. ;)

I'll see what I've got on and might bring Zero down - I should really introduce myself if I'm going to be going to the introductory sledding weekend!
