I'm in the process of selling my corolla to buy an x-trail. Hopefully it will be here in a couple of weeks *squee* I found that it was the only thing that was able to fit Zero's crate in the back of it. Plenty of room in the backseat for Zero (and any other dog I would want!) too and I would still be able to carry people in it at the same time ;) I looked at the new rav 4 plus some others (kluga, CRV, territory, forester, outback, dualis) and the x-trail came out on top for me. I was the most comfortable in it and it handled very well. I was surprised how small the turning circle on it was.

I recently got to see what happened when a breeder was reintroduced to a pup she bred more than 2 years ago. All i can say is that it was obvious that pup (who is now definitely not a pup!) was still completely loved by the breeder. I wasn't having doubts before but after seeing that, it completely concreted in my mind that this was a breeder I wanted to get a puppy from at some stage, even if I have to wait a long time for one. Jed is obviously another one of those breeders. What part of this line: "Oh, sure, I love it when I breed a champion, or one which wins the royal, or the mother of a legend, or some fantastic pet, or a little dog which has given a whole new outlook to a child with Downes syndrome, or someone who is the enduring companion of a lonely old person, but I never cease to be enthralled to see them developing" screams "I don't care once they're not longer with me?" Obviously Jed has an ongoing relationship with the people who buy the pups. I would think that would be commendable, not something to sneer at.

A couple I took of my nieces in the last few weeks: Ally (at 4 days old) - my SIL won't let anyone hold her, hence the bad angle. Rachel (4 years old)

Zero is 5 and because he wasn't treated for multiple ear infections, he has quite bad hearing loss and because he was physically abused, he has cloudiness in his eyes that gives him problems seeing, especially at night. He gets treated like a normal dog and will continue to, even though the vet thinks he will eventually end up deaf. For the moment at least, his eyes are stable and aren't getting any worse but we have a checkup every year with a specialist who check then He just accepts it and gets on with life - I don't really do anything differently because of it either. He goes completely deaf when he gets ear infections now so I just compensate for that and make sure he knows what I want with the use of hand signals. I think I could probably take him into the obedience ring without talking to him at all - he knows the hand signals better than the voice commands. He even has a hand signal for "good"

Unfortunately no - I'm lucky, my work owns all the lenses I'm eyeing off at the moment so I've been able to have a play with them.

I haven't had a problem with fleas on Zero but Mow (my cat) has them at the moment (for the second time ever!) - they just won't seem to die! We flea bombed the house, top spotted Mow and washed everything 3 weeks ago after I found one on Mow and it looked like we were alright but a week ago i found another one on him so I top spotted him again. Tonight he was biting at his leg and when I got the flea comb out, I found another few on him. I'm going to give him a flea bath, capstar and top spot him with a different treatment on the weekend, as well as flea bombing the house at the same time. I think I might set off more bombs than it recommends on the packet this weekend - it might be overkill but Mow really suffers when he has fleas. :nahnah:

Training starts the day they arrive here! Danika was an 8 week old puppy when she arrived and by 10 weeks, she would reliably sit and drop (which she kept doing everytime she was asked until she passed away) - Zero arrived here at 2.5 years old and took more time but we had to work around his problems. Training with him started with games that just got him interacting with me which was his biggest problem! I can't wait to get a puppy - first thing we'll be doing is attention! :D

If you've moved her onto hills very recently, it could be that she just doesn't like the taste. My boy will turn his nose up at hills and he's a complete guts normally. We had a vet tell us to persist with it but after 5 days of him not eating at all (and crying because he was hungry), we threw in the towel and moved him onto a different kibble. He's now on artemis maximal grain free and he loooooves it.

I've heard the same thing - I have been eyeing off the 24-70 and the 70-200 2.8 and the reviews have pretty much all said the same thing. I have had a play with the 24-70 canon at work and I love it but haven't touched the sigma version yet. Looks like it's worth the extra money for the canon.

I have a registered name/call name combination that I want one of the dogs I will own in the future to have - I came up with it by coming up with a call name I like first and then back tracking for the registered name. Maybe they could do the same. I looooove when a dog's call name and registered name match! Oh and you can add Zero to that list Bonnie!

1 siberian husky, 1 moggy (DLH) and 2 cockatiels here. I wouldn't trust Zero as far as I could throw him with Mow but I don't let them interact when I'm not around to strictly supervise it.

Wow - that's a great price! I paid I think about $100 more than that for mine (at the end of last year) and then spent money on a lens hood for it so it was about $540 or something. Zero has a ruffwear harness that looks like this: Then we have a leash thing that attaches to the ring on the harness and clips into the normal seatbelt - it looks like this: Very quick and very easy to put him in the car. Beg to differ nothing worse than a mal that hasnt been bathed .they stink something chronic. I remember in the show ring many moons ago a few select mal exhibitors who didnt bath & the dogs where sent out & those unlucky to be set up next to them having to put up with ahorrid smell. We boarded a Mal that hadnt been bathed & smelt like undried dirty washing ,awful smell. Show mals are bathed weekly so the oils part has nothing to do with it BUT often there is alot of dog & people dont wish to dry them especially in winter so they get wet & stay damp stinkies Have to agree, the worst smelling dogs I have ever come across have been mals that are not washed enough. A different smell to just dirty dog, a rotting smell. I occasionally notice a smell on Zero when he hasn't had a bath for a really long time but even my friends tell me he never smells - my house doesn't smell like dog either apparently (and I have friends who aren't dog people and who would tell me if it did). When I notice the smell on him, it's off for a bath right away! He can go months without a bath though. That being said, he's not the type to run off and roll in something disgusting and he when he gets a bath or is out in the rain, i make sure he's properly dried off with the forced air dryer. I'm sure if you didn't dry them properly, they would smell!

I've taken Zero to this place a few times - he likes going there (he screams blue murder if he gets put in the tub before I leave though - if I sneak back in to have a look he's just standing in the tub without a sound!) and always comes back nice and fluffy. I haven't seen it in person though.

I have a rescue dog and I know my next dog will be from a registered, ethical breeder - Zero is my heart dog and I love him to death but I want a dog without problems for my next dog and Zero certainly came to me with plenty of them! Rescuing is often luck of the draw - some people don't want or can't handle what a rescue dog can throw at them and they shouldn't be made to feel guilty for that. Don't let them talk you out of what you want. Yes, there are a lot of dogs in rescue organisations but if you know you want a purebred puppy with good lines behind them, get a purebred puppy with good lines behind them!

Zero has a release word which pretty much means he can go off and do something else if he wants. When we go to obedience training though, I'm getting into a habit of letting him off leash for a run with me before I give him a "hang around" command while I pack his crate up. I've done it the last few weeks we've been and he is so excited about the run and then he likes just hanging out afterwards - it's a good end of the night for both of us. In the backyard he doesn't want to run as much so I usually end a training session with pats and an ear rub after I've used his release word.

Go and meet breeder 2's puppy - if it isn't going to be the right pup for you and Charlie, then you can wait and see with breeder 1. If breeder 2's puppy is perfect, then why would you wait? Oh... and we'll need photos! Japanese spitz puppies are devine!!
