Ditto! In fact, I only crack out photoshop for the big things - if I have friends modelling for me, I will use it to get rid of blemishes and even out skin tones and stuff but all the colour/lighting stuff is done in lightroom.

Zero doesn't really settle inside so he's usually pretty busy - sometimes he goes off and does things on his own and then other times, he's busy exploring whatever it is I'm doing (like if I'm cooking or folding washing or something). If i was to have some down time and watch television or something, he will usually be off and doing something else, though he constantly checks in to see where I am and if I've moved. He doesn't usually go more than 10 minutes without popping his head back in just to see what I'm doing. If he's outside, he's a whole lot less busy - to him, outside either means zoomies or sleep.

Zero's furminator is sitting in the grooming box - it hasn't been touched for over a year! It gives him horrible static and I find that it doesn't do as good a job as a good comb. A friend of mine gave her cat a bald spot with the furminator and then when she got a coat king, she did exactly the same thing with it!

It's true! What the previous person who did their conference shots got paid was ridiculous! They're basic editing (completely in lightroom) and take little to no time to edit and yet they get paid a fortune!
-
You have to sign in to see the shots - the company my friend's mum works for is like a union of CEOs (i don't really know how else to explain it but you have to be a CEO or on a board of directors to join). I'm not allowed to release the photos anywhere because some people don't want others to know they're affiliated with them. It was crazy - I had to sign like 4 confidentiality agreeements. One was so I didn't talk about what they talked about in the seminars (boring but very eye opening - I never want to be a CEO of a multinational), one so I wouldn't release the photos anywhere, one so that I wouldn't mention who was there and one so that I wouldn't talk about anything i overheard while at the conference (as in, personal conversations). When you sign in though, the banner is one of my shots, the shot of the CEO of the company is one of my shots and then there's a border down the left side next to the menu and they're all my shots too. Besides, you don't want to see them - imagine close to 500 business men, all in black suits, sitting around white table-clothed tables, staring at a panel of people up the front who are talking in boring business-man speak. Very non-interesting, run of the mill shots.

I did some work for a friend's mum who was in a massive bind and couldn't get a photographer in to shoot at a conference. She saw me with my camera and saw the shots I took with it and went nuts. She begged me to come and shoot the conference for her so eventually I agreed (I kept telling her that I wasn't professional, nor was my equipment but she kept telling me she would be fired if i didn't!) - because of it I had to take out insurance, borrow another camera, get an ABN and then register with the office of fair trade here in NSW. It was a huge undertaking and while the money I was paid was great (and still just sitting in a bank account to go towards new equipment), the amount of time it took me to organise everything really wasn't worth it. I like that I not own a registered business but at the same time, I've done like 3 jobs in 6 months and it's really not worth it for me as I'm still nowhere near professional level and not comfortable charging people for photos - I would rather just have it as a hobby at the moment! Oh and i should add that she (and her bosses) loved the shots, they're all over the company website but I still felt really wrong about it. Maybe in a few years when I have better equipment and more skills!

50mm 1.4 Or 1.8 Post Your Pics Here!

Huga you are rockin' that SLR and that lens!!! -
Lol - i'll never forget what Zero looked like. He was staggering around like he'd had one too many tequilas! Poor Miss. Hope her stitches don't give her trouble! What's her name Kirty?
-
Personally I wouldn't take her because if she's even a little bit off (even if she's not showing symptoms by then) and runs around at herding, she could make an injury worse. I understand that the clinic cost you a lot of money but my dog's health and wellbeing are worth a lot more. That being said, if Zero is in any amount of pain, he's off to the vet - I wouldn't want to risk it.
-
To start off with, Zero came to me because he was 4 hours away from being put to sleep when i met him and it was either take him, or he dies. But since then, he's taught me more than 16 years of schooling ever did so I think Zero came to me to show me that even when something looks hopeless, it never is. We've been through more than I think I'll ever go through with another dog and come out smiling on the other side. Zero also came to me as a means to meet some awesome and different friends who have become some of my very best friends. I'm very thankful for that and glad that he's made some good friends because of it too!

If I had the choice now, i would take the second hand canon 40d over the 450, 500 or 550d. Awesome camera and plenty of bang for your buck! If you want to buy new, the 1000, 450, 500 and 550Ds are all great starting points but if you're wanting to get into your photography quite heavily, you will soon learn what you can and can't do with them!

I have no advice but I'm sorry to hear this Ruth. You know what a big fan of Ivan I am. Hope he's feeling better (and eating better) soon. -

Ditto to Zero if you're still looking for a siberian husky. I wasn't planning on bringing him but I may end up taking my car down as well so if you want him, I will. Are you both coming to the Royal on Finnish Lapphund day? Might get some shots with a difference there LOL. I was going to give the royal a miss but if you are coming I will have to go and finally meet you both, so I can show Kyla too We'll both be there (with woofenpup and agentvee) on lappie day but neither Jedi or Zero are entered so they won't be able to enter the show grounds I don't think. I think we're driving down on the tuesday and coming back on the saturday. How exciting!!

Yep - Ashanali had a go at the other queen of hearts pic. I really liked what she did and that's why I'm not touching it I think this queen of hearts pic could just be taken a bit further but for the life of me, I don't know what to do. I think it needs some photoshopping that I don't know I'm capable of at the moment. Maybe it just needs the leaves in the background brought out more. I'll try rotating the fable pic a little and see what it looks like - I still think it might be missing something though!

Lacy And Tully And Thier Quest To Become Delta Dogs
~*Shell*~ replied to tlc's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yay!!! Good luck! I'm sure your girls will make fantastic therapy dogs! It's a wonderful program and benefits so many people. Zero and I have our first delta dog assignment on the 31st - we're going to hornsby westfield for a public awareness and fundraising day. Z is going to looooove it! I'm going to take my camera so hopefully I'll be able to get some photos. I have no idea how he's going to react to the lifts and escalators but hopefully it'll all be good - a totally new experience for him! -
Okay, a while ago I took this photo of a friend of mine for my project 365. I know I want to do something with it (i think it's missing something) and I thought that maybe with time i could think of something to do but it's been months and I'm still drawing a blank. I would really like to style it so it looks a bit like Annie Leibowitz's celebrity disney shots (that kind of soft fairytale look) but everytime I play with it, I disappoint myself! I'm not completely happy with the shot to start off with but considering it was taken at night, outside, with the lights from my car headlights and my speedlite being bounced off a wall, it's not too bad. My friend really dislikes her expression but considering she's not a model and the whole shoot was really awkward for her, i don't think it's too bad  Today I also took this shot of Terranik and Agentvee's new puppy fable, again, I know something is missing but I can't put my finger on it!

No.... she's not.... just me.... and I won't steal charch... (quick, while she's not looking, get him Nik!)

I think I need to come to melbourne to steal charch...

Yeah it's my favourite photo out of the lot! I love Zero's expression, too! He was willing the cake into his mouth.

The Ultimate Evil - The Elizabethan Collar
~*Shell*~ replied to rubiton's topic in General Dog Discussion
Lol - i see your dogs in their elizabethan collars and I raise you my cockatiel, Lucius! I have never seen an animal sook as much wearing one as when Lucius did. He sat in the middle of his cage on one of his perches and barely moved for 3 days. When I let him out, he cuddled into me and wouldn't leave me alone. Poor bugger. And now I've embarassed him by posting it on DOL. By comparison, Zero in his was an angel! He did like that it caught food that he dropped - i should get him one to wear all the time. -
I've had a couple of mine used too. They're not fantastic but I really don't mind

Have a look here: http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppie...ull-terrier.asp Lots of breeders have puppies either planned or on the ground at the moment. I'm sure you'll be able to find a breeder you click with in there!
