Congratulations Bec!!! I love those moments. You've done miracles with Daisy!! I'm the same with Zero - I rarely let him off leash. It's pretty safe at training because Zero is night blind at a distance so if it's not under the lights, he usually can't see it very well. The other night though I had him off leash for a run around with Riddick and Zero starting heading toward to the carpark, kind of squinting into the distance. Suddenly a rabbit ran out from behind a tree and my heart jumped into my mouth (i thought that there was no way he was going to recall off a running, fluffy, delicious rabbit!) but the second i called him, he turned and came back to me. I know he saw the rabbit and i know he was about to take off after it but he came back to me anyway! I don't think i could have shoved more food in his mouth than I did!

I haven't had a problem yet and I have been shooting on a 450D so can't crank the ISO up much higher than 200 without it being really noisy. That being said, I have very steady hands. Now that I can shoot on a higher ISO (i upgraded my camera which should arrive tomorrow), I don't think I'll have much of a problem. When my hands start to shake more (which I think will happen), i'm sure i'll have to upgrade the lens but hopefully that won't be for a while!

Just makes me want a greyhound even more. We were lucky to meet a few GAP greyhounds when we were in melbourne - they were just gorgeous!!!

Weird Habitual Behaviour During Walks
~*Shell*~ replied to samoyedman's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is he standing behind you laughing right now? Maybe he just wanted you to start a thread on DOL about the weird behaviours he's been exhibiting. Maybe he's actually an evil genius.... It's probably just habit. I could pretty much walk Zero without a leash on our walking route - he knows where he's going! -
Get the puppies around you before you do Mysticpaw!! I practically had Zero in my lap throughout that movie. I bawled my eyes out!

This is Zero all over - awesome breeder, ended up in a bad situation, extremely dog aggressive, wouldn't let people near him, used to growl and snap at you if you handled his paws or touched his collar, took him to see k9pro, had a massive turn around and now he's an awesome dog again. I put a lot of that down to good breeding and early (very early) socialisation. It wasn't naturally in his nature to be like that if that makes sense. That being said, i think nurture plays a huge part - the wrong dog in the wrong home can be a massive problem.

Eagle Pack - No Longer Being Sold At Petstock In Sa :(
~*Shell*~ replied to busyberner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Have you thought about buying it online? I have both dog and cat food delivered straight to my door and it often works out cheaper than buying it instore. I pay more for Mow's (my cat) royal canin instore than I do online + delivery. If i buy it with Zero's Artemis (which i do because they always seem to run out at the same time), it's $5 postage for the 2 things together and it gets here within a couple of days. -

Canon 450d Twin Lens Kit + Accessories For Sale
~*Shell*~ replied to ~*Shell*~'s topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Hahahahaha - funnily enough that's what everyone's been asking. I'm now the proud owner of a 5D Mark II -
Cross posted from here: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=206201 but i thought it might get more traffic here. Hey guys, I've just upgraded my camera and so I'm selling my Canon 450D twin lens kit. It was bought from harvey norman a couple of years ago, has very few signs of wear on either the camera body or the lenses and has not seen much rough handling. I haven't had a problem with it since I bought it however, it can sometimes be tricky to get the computer to read the camera when it's connected via USB (hence the memory card reader being included, so you never have to hook it up). It comes with the 18-55mm kit lens, the 55-250mm kit lens, memory cards, a canon camera bag, a memory card reader, canon wireless remote trigger, extra (canon) battery and everything that came in the box. It takes nice photos (if i don't say so myself) and would be perfect for someone just starting out. A few examples of shots I've taken on it in the last few weeks: A nearly identical kit was sold on ebay for $600 a couple of weeks ago but I'm pretty flexible so make me an offer!

Apparently they were sending them out between thursday and sunday of last week so some of them will still be arriving today. If you get home and don't have it today Huga, drop them an email.

If there is a problem of keeping the other dog inside at night because of space, why not buy a crate? Zero loves his and will voluntarily go and put himself in it when he's had enough. If i'm going to friend's houses, I always take it with me - usually there ends up being a couple of dogs sharing it with him. He loves the company. It's an easy way for him to have some space without him spreading himself out or wandering from place to place.

Boo ;) But... on the other hand, yay. Cos it will be the next month we are in Melbourne for the MDBA awards drinking large quantities of wine celebrating your victory Lol not celebrating mine, celebrating yours! Either way, there will be large quantities of wine to be had!

There's a reason that there is always the rivalry between canon and nikon - they are so very hard to choose between because they're both great brands who have awesome cameras. Personally, I'm a canon girl because i like the feel of them in my hands, but i know nikon people and they say exactly the same thing about their cameras!

Not me (unfortunately)

October Photo Challenge - All Welcome
~*Shell*~ replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Awesome!!! My new camera arrives next week so now I'm trying to decide if I get started with the 450D and wait for the new one to arrive or if I just try to hone in on what I want to do with the briefs and start next weekend. I think it's going to be a lot more theatrical for me this year than last year so I'll have to get my butt into gear organising some things -
Really Worried About Rover :( Healing Vibes Needed
~*Shell*~ replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh no! Sorry to hear this Jen! Sending big husky hugs to you and rover for a speedy recovery (and some for Riddick too). -
Spoilt doggies!! I've never given Zero a turkey leg! Might have to be something he gets at christmas. What a great price!

Zero doesn't do puppy dog eyes, just crazy eyes: And "oh shit i'm in trouble" eyes: This is about as close as he gets (excuse the colouring - it was taken during the dust storm):

I got mine today too!

4th Annual Mdba Dog Owners Choice Awards
~*Shell*~ replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks Julie!! I was so confused to start off with when I spoke to you - i thought you were calling me about someone I'd nominated, not that I'd been nominated myself! Who knew my little pound puppy (I don't think I mentioned that he's now a Delta dog too!) could turn into something so wonderful, especially since so many people told me the kind thing to do would be to put him to sleep. He'll be getting a bone or two to celebrate tonight! -
I own one, not that Zero needs it but I mostly just wanted to see what it did. Worked well on a friend's rescue dog but we only used it a couple of times because Jude was alright. She was half way through learning the loose leash walk though so i don't know if it was the collar or the previous training. It was a probabaly a combination of both.

If mine hasn't arrived by this afternoon, I'm going to.
