  1. Yeah it is, but I never noticed the discharge or smell before today. I cuddle him quite a bit and would have noticed the smell immediately as its quite strong. I've washed it down for tonight. Lets hope it clears by morning
  2. Thanks all. What is saline, is it just salt and water?
  3. I just noticed a very strong yucky smell on one of my dogs. I narrowed it down and noticed a white cream like discharge coming out of his penis. i think its some kind of infection or something. ive wiped it down with aloveen and it doesnt seem to bother or hurt him when i do it. I'm going to take my dog in to the vet tomorrow if it doesn't clear. Has anyone had something similar with their dogs before? He is desexed by the way. No humping or anything noticed either
  4. Thank you again. I don't think it's anything I did because he is usually more relaxed in my presence. When I go and get him, he would cuddle up to me. Plus most of the time he is hiding when I'm in my room, sometimes I come out after a few hours to find he has disappeared I noticed he got into this behavior after a long walk the other day. He has been on the same walks before but I have been unwell so stopped for a while, so that walk was the first after a bit of a break. Previously, he has hidden before (not after walks) but not as extreme as after this walk I may check his nails when I get home today, may have grown too long. unlikely since I only clipped it 2 weeks ago. Worth a look anyway. Thanks

  6. I'm actually not sure whether it is bullying or he is wanting to get away from my older dog or just wanting to hide in general. Just now, both were sleeping on the sofa and I woke them when I went to get a glass water. I called them out to pee and my older boy didnt want to move as he was nice and warm but the younger one went out. After a minute when he didn't come in, I went out to check and found him sitting on the grass area just under the roof edge ( he was just shielded from the sprinkling rain). I encouraged him back into the house and he jumped back onto the sofa next to my older dog and back to sleep I don't think the older dog was bullying in this instance, he didn't even want to move, he just had his eyes opened and his eyes followed my movement. He didn't bother the little one and didn't even look at him. My younger dog hasn't shown any signs of being unwell, his poop is nice and firm, he is drinking and eating fine. He is playing well and hasn't shown a loss in energy. If I take him to the vet, they probably just think I'm paranoid. Plus he had a bit of a traumatic experience with an allergic reaction at the vet a couple of months ago so if I can avoid taking him to the vet, that would be ideal. If it was bullying, wouldn't he be scared of my older dog all the time? He has no issues being close to my older dog or playing with him, he doesnt keep his distance. it's only just out of the blue he goes and disappears for a while. Is there a way I can rule out whether it is illness or the bullying myself before proceeding to the next step?
  7. What did you do to stop it? My boys were back together sleeping again. But the younger one stll does sneak away once in a while. It is clear that there is a dominance thing, after the younger one pees, the older one will go over to pee on top of where he did it. Always has. But dominance isn't bullying is it?
  8. Thank you all. He doesn't seem to be in pain and no loss in energy so I hope it's not health related. Yesterday when I caught him hiding in the garage, his tail was tucked in between his legs. I don't know whether this is a one off, ill check again the next time it happens and report back. Initially the thought of bullying did come to mind, actually everytime he hides I always say to him has your big brother been picking in you again! Lol But the older one hasn't shown any signs of aggression to him, they play like best friends outside in the yard. However I did catch him giving the younger one a nudge out the doggie door the other day when the younger one was trying to come in and the older one was inside. That may be just me being psychological and it may not have meant anything. Could the bullying be silent and they have a dog code of communication without getting violent?
  9. I have 2 mini schnauzers, one is almost 4 and the other 2. Both boys. The older one is the more dominant one and the younger more submissive. They get along fine. However, in the morning, the younger one will not come inside the house until his breakfast is ready. And there will be periods where he will hide outside and will not come in, even when it's dark and raining. And then the next day he is okay and back to normal. I'm starting to get a bit worried, yesterday he hid outside or inside the garage all day. When it came to bed time they usually sleep together on the sofa however he wouldn't and went to sleep elsewhere. It was only later that night he climb back onto the sofa. This morning he started the hiding again. Initially I thought they were fighting but there was none of that and they would play together outside so seem like they are getting along fine. Any idea what's going on?
  10. I don't understand why this product has so much great reviews. Been using this on the dogs for over 2 months and haven't seen much improvement. Yes it softens it slightly but not by much and still you need to scrap it off (doesn't work with your nails so its still hard)
  11. my dogs have firm poo every day but every visit to the vet (annually) the vet checks and needs to express the anal glands. They don't have the fish smell but one of my boys is constantly licking his butt so I suspect the glands are blocked. No scooting either. I've seen youtube videos on how to express the glands but can never get anything out. When my vet does it, they stick their fingers in (with gloves) to get to it. I don't know whether i should leave it alone or get it expressed.
  12. yeah i purchased something similar recently
  13. ah okay, i must trying to scrap it off then. I did scrape with my fingers today and it does feel more soft. I was under the impression it would come off on its on using plaque off.
  14. Recently started feeding taste of the wild after reading a lot of people recommended it on this forum. Too early to say whether its the right one for my dog. But previously fed Artemis and Blackhawk.
  15. I've been using plaque off on my dogs for about 6 weeks now but I haven't noticed any difference. How long does it usually take to see an effect?
  16. Thank you. How long has the dog been on it before the thyroid test was done?
  17. So there is no discharge or anything visible to the eyes except redness and quite possible moisture?
  18. I stumbled across this thread while researching plaque removers for my dogs. Do you know whether regular use of this is okay for the dog without thyroid problems? Afterall, its a dose of iodine a day compared to literally none at all right now. Is there a difference with the brand. I flipped through a number of pages on this thread and some people talk about Troys and other talk about Proden. Are they the same thing just different brands? Thanks.
  19. showdog, out of curiousity, how can you tell whether there is yeast on the feet? Is it like white flakey stuff?
  20. Has anyone used plaque off. Its a seaweed based powder you add to your dog's meals. I read some reviews it does wonders. But its seaweed, is iodine an issue for dogs?
  21. Interesting. Quote from the website: " in commercial dog food… a high grade meat meal can actually be a better source of digestible protein… than the whole meat from which it was made." Logically I would have thought was the other way around. I guess its differentiating from a good quality meal product to an inferior one.
  22. Could the allergy be a build up from the same protein? While I was researching yesterday on what brand of kibbles I should change my dog to, i read somewhere that it was suggested that proteins in the food should be changed on a regular basis.
  23. Sway, while you are at it, you can do mine too :) Sway,I had a look at your scaler that Clyde posted in the earlier post, do you sell the flat ended ones? The ones on your site look so sharp and pointed I'm nervous to use it. By the way, the coat of your danes are amazing, what are you feeding them?
  24. Thanks. Good to hear improvements in both cases
