Is this the one to get? http://www.canesten.com.au/products/canest...ungal-cream.php

Thanks So i just rub it inside the gaps of the paws? How abou the 3% hydrogen peroxide, do i apply it at the same time and do I need to dilute it. Is licking on this one a problem aswell?
-
haha no, i wouldn't put an electric one around anyone! its the big piece of plastic collar. I did notice the fishy smell (anal gland) a couple of nights ago but it has been gone since but he is still licking his paws. Last time when he had the fishy smell, i took him to the vet and they had a look at it and said it wasn't blocked so didn't need any attention. He doesn't lick the top of the paws, just inside the paw and I've trim the hair within the gaps as short as I can. Its all covered in saliva stain at the moment. He licks all four paws not just the front two. This tinea cream you are talking about, when i apply it, would it be a problem if he licks it off. I'm sure he will! Will raw oats plus water soothe the irritation also. I tried yesterday wiping it with a bit of salty water and then rinsing it off and then blow drying it. He stopped licking for a while but started again. And no bad ears, he used to get a lot of wax when he was little but he stopped when he was around 10 months and his ears have always been fine. Thanks all

He has been on artemis since small. Recently, I put him on the weight management version as suggested by the vet. Its the same ingredients but less fat so i didn't think it was food.

I brought one of these over the weekend from the rave reviews on this forum. But i can't seem to get any good photos out of it. It seems to blur all over the place - the background (which i expect) but also parts on the subject. I set my autofocus to the centre dot and point it directly at my dogs nose. Still cannot get a good pic.

My dog keeps licking his paws. He does it on all four. I've inspected it and can't see anything irritating it. He mainly does it at night. Any ideas why? Forgot to mention, the vet seems to think its behavioural. I've tried an e collar but he still manages to get to the paws. I noticed it more an more this week, he used to do it once or twice a week for a very short period of time, now it is everyday

Im planning to get the canon slr 550d with the kit lens (18-55mm) and add on the 50mm f1.8. Is this a good choice for taking photos of my dog? Im an amatuer at this so any suggestions would be fab!
-
Looking at getting one of these 50mm , not sure which to get the f1.8 and f1.4. For doggie shots, which is better? I'm looking at the canon lens, whats a good price for one of these, i read they are one of the more inexpensive lenses around

thanks all haha very true. I'm just surprise he doesn't like it because its so cold in our house. The weather is warming here so its not too much of a problem but a couple of weeks ago, he doesnt even want to move in the morning cos he is nice an warm under the layers of blanket we put out for him....

In Winter, when i put a coat on my dog, he goes crazy intially and rubs his back on the sofa and rolls around. The coat material is fleece and its nice and soft and the coat is the right size. Why does he do this? It keeps him nice and warm and he doesn't mind it after the first 10 mins of going bezerk

Thanks all for the replies i don't think they weren't trying to sell me greenies, they didn't even ask whether i wanted to buy some. It came up because i asked them what i can use to clean the teeth. I asked whether it was better than bones and basically they explained that the greenies cling to the teeth like toffee so gives it a good clean - sounds like a valid explanation so i thought i'll do some research before getting any because i recall reading some bad things about it.
-
the vet said greenies work better than bones. but when i looked at the packet, it had made in china so i didn't get it.
-
Hi Is there a greenies treat equivalent that is not made in china? I want to get my dog some treats that are actually good for cleaning his teeth.
-
You are absolutely right. This is my fault, my little boy thinks its a chasing game. Now, even if don't give him any expression or act if i don't care, he will parade the object in front of me. He will hang on to the object till he finds something else. haha I've exergerated "trouble". He is a actually very sweet boy, but just more naughty when we are around (eg. chews up our slippers).

I've always had two dogs at the same time growing up until they both passed away due to old age so I've always had the mentality that 2 is always better than one. The same mentality i hold about children as well. Just to be clear, I'm not getting a second dog to "quick fix" the issue (although if it worked it is a bonus!), it was always my intention when i brought the first dog to get a second one when he is a bit older - I always thought it is good for him to have company that can speak the "woof woof" language :D. So i thought while he seems to be bored, this may be the best time to introduce the second one. In regards to whether I want a 2nd dog - absolutely. Am i ready for a second dog - yes. But i don't agree to the fact i should not be getting the second dog because i want a playmate for my first. To me, I think the playmate reason is one of the top reasons why i want to get another one. I honestly think (and this from past experience) that a second dog will make the first one alot happier - and this is assuming they will get along.

My grandparents are with him at home during the day but as they are elderly, they are not as active. I also disagree about not homing them people who work all day. He has a blast with us when we all return from work and on weekends. He is basically the centre of attention for everything. They definitely love being around people but also do well when alone - I'm pretty sure he sleeps all day if we are out and never in any trouble when he is home alone (such a good boy) ... only when we are home - then the trouble starts :D I don't think that will be a problem, more concerned that they won't get along haha with the ashma pump It more boredom then anything and attention seeking, I'm planning to get the second one to address the boredom issue so quite hard to actually address the issue first if you know what i mean. We take it for walks and have a big yard for it to run around. He runs around to play fetch everyday. We practice tricks everyday which is quite stimulating.
-
My dog is 1.5years old and he is seeking attention by taking things he knows he is not allowed to and showing it to you so you will chase him. I've always been wanting to get a second dog so he has company - I think he is a bit bored during the day when we are at work. Would getting a second one reduce the attention seeking? My other concern is he hasn't been around many dogs so he is nervous around them. He would make the pouncing gesture when greeting a new dog. I am worried if I bring another home, he may not get along with them.

thanks all

My dog was very excited this morning (more than usual) because he was having a ball with a visitor we had over. Soon enough, i noticed a fishy smell coming from his backside and i suspect its the anal gland, i also noticed the area around his anus was more brownish than he usually is (almost like he didn't wipe his butt after a poo if you know what i mean ). Do i need to be worried and get the gland expressed? I've noticed the smell before but it usually goes away within the day. Could it be that when he poo'ed today, the stuff got onto his bottom so it caused the smell? I've wiped his bum with a moisten cloth and it doesn't smell too bad now.

Could you please give me the link for the online pattern. How many bags of stuffing do you buy for one bed and how much does each bag cost? eek. Not when you have slimey meat.
-
Oh thanks!!! i'll think i'll get one from the rave reviews people have here. HAs anyone used the outward hound ones: http://www.amazon.com/Designer-Quick-Acces...6542&sr=8-5 apparently they are quite good too. But they seem rather big. For those who own a black dog treat bag, is the regular size sufficient? Yeah i was thinking about doing that on the way home... it would obviously not look so nice as the fuzzyard but i was more concern with the comfort level, what do you stuff them with, just pillow fillings? The fuzzyard ones are nice and soft and it feels full unlike the ones at the bargain shops/kmart that feels like there are gaps all over the place.
-
i went to a pet store (not one with pets, one of those warehouse style ones) and was looking at some beds and treat bags. Two big surprises - thought i'll share it with you. 1) The Blackdog treat bags are so incredibly expensive - i was expecting around $30 (which i thought was rather expensive for a treat bag already) but it was close to $50 for a regular size one 2) I saw these nice and comfy beds... i couldn't believe how comfy they were. its called fuzzyard. I googled them online just now http://www.fuzzyard.com/products/standard/range26/?pageNum=1 They look really really comfortable and feels very very comfortable. The price tag obviously was $79. Couldn't justify that much for a bed that is just fabric + cotton stuffing. Maybe i'll splurge on it one day... its just so comfy!

I thought fleas are only in the summer time, its nearly winter and the weather is getting cooler, how can fleas manifest?

How To Get The Dog To Leave It
giraffez replied to giraffez's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yeah thats pretty much it. At school, he doesn't run to snatch the object off the floor but sniffs it and won't look at me (he just keeps sniffing it) when i tell him to leave it. -
I can't get my dog to leave it. We practically go through it every day. When he knows i have food, he loses interest on the temptor and doesn't even try to get it. He mostly just stands and stares at it and when he looks up i click and reward. We have tried many objects and practice in many different places. However when he is at school and we do the leave it, he just goes for the object and doesn't look up at all.
