  1. Okay, i got my pedigree certificate from my breeder today and I'm not sure what I need to fill out. I remember filling a change in owner form (i retained the red copy) but there is another form on the back of the pedigree certificate. What is that for, i thought the change of owner is enough? Do i need to submit the pedigree form back? There appears to be a cost to it as well (not sure how much)? I noticed i still have the one from my first dog too! If i submit it back, does that means i lose the copy of the pedigree certificate.
  2. great thread! Does anyone use http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Dog-Car-Safety-...=item19b77f49f9 the thing with seat belt buckle is that i'm worried that the harness is too thin that on impact it may break his neck. This harness takes up a lot more surface area so looks to be ok. Any reviews?
  3. Luckily my bedroom is the first room before the baby gate so i used to stay in my room until he stops. But as soon as i step out, he will cry even louder - he will wait for me at the baby gate until i come out.
  4. i try to but the window is too small between the stop cry and the start cry. I use the clicker also. but the whinning hasn't improved. When he is whining, i stand still or move backwards and no eye contact.
  5. nope its everytime i return. He is pepper and salt, does the colour matter with the barking? My older boy is p&s also and never whinged at all.
  6. you mean this is only puppy phase? i'm not too sure of it.... it sounds like its here to stay
  7. Very very sad, it must have been terrible feeling so helpless. What do people use to restraint the dogs in cars, is it one of these? http://www.togsfordogs.net/sei/s/3066/et/csbr.jpg
  8. Since getting my little puppy, he has been a bit of a sook. He would sook at night if i leave him after settling him in bed. I have ignore this cry and it has been better over time... still whinning once or twice but generally he will go back to sleep if he cannot see me. We have a baby gate between the living room and the front dog. When i come home and sees me, he would whine quite a bit and if i ignore him, it turns into many barks. I have been ignoring him until he settles but that is usually several minutes later and the time doesn't seem to have improved. Now i try to click and treat in front of him, its a bit better but still whinning. How can i correct this?
  9. How does the puppy socialisation at the puppy schools work? Do they let the puppies interact freely or on a selected based on temperament and size?
  10. My boy is eating much better now that he is a week or two older. I'm feeding him a bit less and he finishes his bowl spotlessly clean... sometimes i wonder whether he is getting enough! Thanks all
  11. I'm looking for a good puppy school in the homebush or nearby area (NSW). Does anyone have some good experiences they can recommend?
  12. ok thanks. Whats the idea around focusing on the dogs eyes? do i focus on the eyes and then move the camera to the centre before i take the shot? or do i just focus on one dog's eyes and take the shot there.
  13. I am shooting at AV at F5.6 with the standard 18-55 lens.
  14. when i have it to automatic focus (with all 9 dots selected) sometimes it doesn't recognise there are 2 dogs and only focuses on one. I can't seem to find an option to just manually select both the left and right focus points (i can select one but not both). The dogs are right next to each other.... sometimes there is a slight gap but most of the time the photo appears blurred for one of the dogs Not sure whether it makes a difference but one dog is bigger than the other
  15. If i'm take a closeup of my two dogs, what do i focus on? i use the auto focus setting the red dot to the centre...... and then i focus the red dot in the centre of the two dogs. But alot of the photos are blurred. How do i get the camera to focus on the two dogs? Using the canon 550d
  16. Should i be worried, i just brought a box of the treats 2 weeks ago
  17. why are they off the shelf? is there some contamination issue?
  18. hahah and this sounds like my pup
  19. Haha she sounds like my older dog!
  20. He has been on weight management artemis for like 2 months now so i don't think thats the problem. I still think its the bone i fed him yesterday and not giving him any kibbles after that as the bone did not have much meat on it or the reduction in food i've been giving him. I'm feeding atm less than 1/2 cup artemis and 1/2 cup of meat - the same amount twice a day. Occasional snacks like 3/4 of dog biscuit and small pieces of dried liver treats. He gets a bone once a week (or once a fortnight) and when he has the bone, he doesn't get breakfast.
  21. Yep he will chase after the ball but he will stop at the ball. He walks fine at obedience class, its only on our normal walks that he freaks out for some reason at certain points. Once i manage to get him pass the spot, he is okay for the rest of the walk. Nothing special has every happened at the spot so i don't know why he won't move on. Although he is 14kg, i can still feel the bones on the ribcage and he still has the "slippery dip" shape on his tummy. But definitely needs to lose the weight. What weight should a mini of his height be at? He has been quite a big built since he was a puppy, i suspect he is around 2 sizes bigger than the average mini (he is up to his last hole on a 45 cm kramar collar).
  22. I just put him on the scales, he is 14kg :D but he is an oversized mini - he is 17 -18 inches from the floor to the top of his shoulders. Vet said 12kg is ideal for his size. With the reduction in food and the weight management food, he is still putting on weight. Exercise is a bit hard as he refuses to walk at a certain point when i take him on walks. I stand still and wait for him but he won't budge... i try another route and he stops at a certain point also. I take him for a run at the local park too but he doesn't run around that much, he just walks around sniffing. He doesn't get snacks or table scraps either! So i'm I am hoping the puppy will get some kilos off also. There has been a lot of chasing around in the yard and wrestling
  23. Thanks all Schnauzer - sorry to hear about your GSD. I'm very conscious about the weight of my dog as i know minis are very prone to pancreatis. When i visited my vet 2 months ago, she mentioned he needs to lose 1 kg and I've been trying to reduce the intake but he is not overly fat. I may need to stop giving him bones as they are quite fattening (i trim off all the fat already but i believed the bone itself is also fattening). The reason i give it to him is so he can get a good clean on his teeth. I've been keeping and eye on him all day and so far so good. No more vomiting since this morning's episode and he appears to be his normal self. I will be monitoring him closely and appreciate the knowledge and experience you all have shared with me on this matter. Thanks
  24. He has no problem eating. His appetite is as big as an elephant! I gave him 1/4 handful more of kibbles today soaked in water on top of what he usually gets and he gobbled it up. His energy level is high also, he has been wrestling with his little brother all morning. is lack of interest in food a symptom of pancreatitis?
  25. Ok Schnauzer. Thanks. But he getting less food than he usually does and he is on the weight management type kibble. Could be the bone i fed him yesterday for dinner and a medium kong. Any other signs i should look out for if its pancreatitis?
