  1. Thats an excellent idea! It is probably just me but i felt the instructions on the pet registry website is not very clear. By default, when you microchip your dog and register with the council, which register does it go into? If you don't register with the other pet registers and if you lose your dog (knock on wood) and say 1) someone takes it to a vet, would the vet be able to track down the microchip if it is just registered with the council 2) if someone takes it to the pound, could they track it down if it is just registered with the council If both the above is yes, then what are the other pet registries for?
  2. ok thanks. I'll give them a call on Monday to sort it out. This is all too confusing!
  3. oh, no i didn't.... So what is the purpose of the NSW Companion Animals Register form? I thought this was to get the microchip into the system?
  4. I put my dog on the national pet registry. Got sent the green tag as well. Registered with the council also. But when i search in the national pet registry site for the microchip number, it fails to locate the details of my pet. Does it mean its not in the system?
  5. oh i think it was valgus not vigour...... i've feeding artemis puppy and its a mini schnauzer and he is 13 weeks.
  6. The vet said the puppies back legs are pointing a bit outwards (its called vigor??) and its important he gets enough calcium as this can be corrected with food.
  7. how do i find out the calcium to phosphorus ratio in a dog food. My vet has asked me to switched to a high calcium dog food (advance) but I want to know whether the current dog food (artemis) has the same calcium to phosphorus ratio before doing that.
  8. hahah i have the same problem, he know roll over but cannot stay still halfway!
  9. are there any that cover the annual vet checkup and desexing? just went to petplan but it seems they only cover accidental vet costs
  10. No, no grease at all. Its all dried up. Only small flakes beginning to scatter and fall out
  11. Managed to take some photos but still hard to see what they look like if anyone is interested.
  12. Thanks But its great to know that there is good facility (and care by the sound of the feedback in this post) around the area.
  13. hahaha i experienced the same thing a week ago http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=209835 I was worried it was aggression but others have assured me that its just them being vocal beautiful dog you have there on your signature btw.
  14. sorry didn't want to come across as rude. I just wanted to make sure that there is nothing significant in whether i return that piece of paper or not. Thanks all.
  15. A very non-scientific way to check if it is the pup.............................. Colour older dog's face/neck in with a non-toxic texta or crayon (lipstick, food colouring??) and see what colour puppy's mouth area is tomorrow. Then, if it is puppy, put bitter apple or something else yuk tasting on it?? my puppy's colour is black... haha not very easy to show a colour on his mouth. But i'm sure he often jump on my older dog around that area. I have checked the rest of the body and no scabs visible.... just around the neck and under the chin.
  16. I did think about that too. but there is quite a lot there! and no bleeding. The pup has a tendency to want to bite but when he does my older dog turns him around onto the floor into submissive position. No yelping from the big dog during play either. My pup does go for the side of the neck though when he tries to bite. oh god, what can i do? I just noticed it or would have made an appt to see the vet earlier. Will definitely take him to the vet.
  17. I can't quite take a photo. It doesn't really show as its right on the skinand under the fur. He had a little one before behind this leg when he was little but i didn't mention it in this forum before as i thought he might have accidently hurt himself. There are too many on his neck this time to be accidental. I was going to clip him down tomorrow but worried that it may hurt him when i do it. When i touch it, it doesn't irritate him at all.
  18. I've noticed while playing with my older dog today that he has alot of almost scab like stuff on his body. I'm not sure whether it is scab but alot has surfaced particularly around the side of the neck. I haven't noticed this 2 days before when i was brushing him. He is wormed and flea treated I'm really worried, what is this?
  19. Didn't know about this. Is there a website for this? Do they take normal vacinationation appointments or is it just hospital for surgeries and all?
  20. I'm interested to find out this also. I still cannot justify the need to have it transferred over to me if all it is is a name on a piece of paper. The dog is registered under me at the council and the microchip have both my details and the breeders. It seems to me its just easy revenue for DogsNSW.
  21. So long as the microchip tag has my details and the breeder has signed the back of the pedigree certificate, i don't see any more value to transfer the pedigree to me seeing it is just a pet. If its lost, they usually track it down using the microchip anyway.
  22. Nope. Its just a pet dog. I remember my first breeder saying something along the same lines... its been a while but now you mention it it seem awfully familiar.
  23. Yes they have. Does it mean anything if i return it besides getting a new certificate in my name? I've already filled in the Change of Owner to the NSW Companion Animal Register. Is that enough? Quite frankly, i don't really care whether the certificate has my name or not, just as long as the dog ownership belongs to me. So if the only significance of returning the certificate is so it has my name, then i probably wont do it
