  1. Yes, that does sound harsh. He's just a baby after all. Good luck with your next show, hopefully you will have a more understanding judge!
  2. We were "excused" in our first show and my boy was only 4.5 months old....he wiggled away from the judge twice when he 'lorded' over him and pushed on his shoulders too hard.......no one had ever seen such a debarcle in 25 years of showing.....anyway...it was not a nice first time and it has been hard recovering from it. Deisel's Mate, when you say you were "excused" do you mean you were asked to leave the ring? I'm just trying to understand what a baby puppy could do that would be so bad it would be "excused" from the ring?
  3. Yes, in order to breed a GSD of correct temperament and structure and maintain the breed's integrity, the Germans have put a stringent testing process in place to ensure that non compliant dogs are not bred with faulty traits reproduced. The GSDCA here in Australia who are supposed to uphold the German testing process only complete a 3rd of the requirements of the German Breed Survey which allows faulty traits to slip through what effectively is a quality control net and be reproduced to the detriment of the breed. The German requirements isn't easy and takes a lot of work and/or money to train, prepare and pass such a survey which is probably too hard for the average GSD breeder to undertake so the GSDCA don't do it, hence easy for the breeders, but detrimental for the breed. Personally I would be surprised if the majority of highly rated Australian show dogs had the integrity to pass a German breed survey to be honest and would suspect a large number of our breeding stock put to the test would potentially fail? What's Don Burke got to do with dogs anyway, isn't he supposed to be a gardening expert He fancies himself as an expert on most things.
  4. That's so sad. Hugs to you Jules. RIP Brock.
  5. What a beautiful girl, and what a wonderful life she had with you. She knew from the moment she saw you that she was going home with you, no ifs or buts! RIP Cordelia
  6. My three get the Peters vanilla low-fat variety as a special treat and love it. :D
  7. I didn't think I'd ever do this either, but I named a puppy I kept from my last litter the same name as my first Golden Retriever. This dog is a different breed and the Golden has been gone for 20 years. I just liked the name and they're both beautiful dogs.
  8. We are coming down for the day. I'm really looking forward to it. .
  9. I've only entered on Sunday, but my numbers haven't arrived either. I entered via Ozentries.
  10. Good girl Gracie, what a clever dog she is!
  11. The ANKC requires the breeding of inbred dogs with health problems - if I dont want to breed a cripple, I will not breed an registered ANKC puppy of that breed. How is breeding ANKC registered dogs of this breed a good thing? What breed are you talking here lilli?
  12. Oh......my........goodness! He is simply squishable!
  13. RIP sweet girl. It's almost as though she knew it was her time to be reunited with your Mum again.
  14. Excellent drawings, you are very talented. I especially like the last one
  15. Lovely puppy and lovely little girl.
  16. One of my puppy buyers flew down from the Sunshine Coast to collect his girl (from Bathurst NSW) then flew home with her the next day.
  17. I went to Bunnings and bought a couple of metres of cheap lino and put that over the tiles then covered the lino with newspaper. The lino had sort of a "rough" surface so it was non-slippery. Easy to keep clean and then I threw it out when the puppies went to their new homes. :D
  18. Yep, will be there for the Friday and Saturday shows. Looking forward to it.
  19. She's gorgeous, she doesn't look real in the first photo.
  20. Some lovely babies here. Oh my goodness, Dallas is to die for! Look forward to seeing how this young lady progresses.
  21. Beautiful! As a mum I would be thrilled to receive that for Mother's Day
  22. I have traditionally docked breed. It took a while to get used them with a tail but I'm used to it now, it doesn't bother me. I love my breed too much to worry about a tail.
