My dog is a bichon frise and 4 yrs old. She's itchy like you described your dog and she mainly scratches around her chin and Ive shaved the hair off and her skin is full of scabs there. My vet also gave her 2 different tablets , one for 1 week only and the other for 2 weeks. She was not scratching the whole time she was on the tablets but started again as soon as she got off them. I was thinking of switching her diet away from raw chicken but after reading this thread it seems like my dog has atopic dermatitis? Does that rule out food as the cause of her itch? And should I forget about changing her diet and let her see a dermatologist?

I have 2 bichons, theyr only young though. i hope your bichon does well! Do you know how he got the worts?

I didnt end up taking them to the vet cause they seemed fine from their behaviour. They are both fine now

I just came home and found an empty packet of mars pods on the floor. I have two bichon frises and I dont know if they shared it or just one of them ate the pack. Knowing my dogs, I have a feeling my older one ate it all while the little one watched on. I remember there being maybe half remaining in the pack. It says theres 25% min cocoa content. My dogs are not showing any other symptoms besides hyperactivity. Should I be worried? The cocoa content is not that high as in normal chocolate.

I dont think she's registered the litter at all. And she's given excuse after excuse as to why she hasnt done so. Maybe she doesnt want to pay for it.

Troy of these forums has taken up this matter with the breeder and he said to wait a month to see if the papers come but they havent. Im just waiting on his response now if he gets any from the breeder. Im not sure what Fair Trading can do.

After another excuse from the breeder last month that her fax to DogsNSW didnt go through and that she was going to send them again, now its a month later and I have not heard anything from her and still no papers!

Hi Can anyone recommend a groomer in Sydney Inner west / South west thats good at doing the bichon show cut? I would love a recommendation from bichon owners. Mobil groomers that do this area would be good too! Maybe Im silly but I think the bichon cut is very technical and I dont really trust just any groomer to do it. So if Im gonna pay $60+ for it I want it done right! Ta

Did you end up getting the papers in the end? Ive given the details to Troy whos been so kind to initiate to help me contact the breeder. I'll see how he goes then I might give DogsNSW a call. Its been 4 months since I got my puppy so shes definitely run out of excuses. And Im sure shes sold litters of puppies before mine so I dont know whats gone on to stop her from getting the papers done, if assuming that she did in the past. Thanks everyone! I bought a bichon frise puppy from a breeder back in February and he was advertised as "will be registered with Dogs NSW" which I thought meant that I would get some sort of papers showing the registration and I was told this by the breeder as well. But Ive emailed the breeder a number of times and the last time she told me she had sent the docs off but its been more than a month and I've not heard back from her. Shes no longer replying to my emails and she doesnt answer the phone. She also showed me a certificate of the puppy's pedigree which she said she was going to send to me in the post but she hasnt and I paid a premium price for what I thought was a pedigree puppy - but now I dont know if she even shows her dogs. And she has given me a bad impression of her "operations" She is still selling puppies on the DogzOnline pages and she seems to have puppies available for sale all the time. The other thing was when I got my puppy he was not in good condition. He had infections in both ears with one ear completely blocked with smelly brown stuff which also caused his eyes to tear and stain. He's healthy and happy now but Im not happy with the "breeder" who I feel is selling so called pedigree puppies under the guise of a responsible dog breeder/shower when she's not. Because she cant even get her act together and give me my dog's papers which she promised. Is there anything I can do?

Ive been giving my puppy meaty bones like chicken wings since the day I got him. He's lost and grew his other teeth without problems. Just the canines and all 4 of them! I dont want to have him desexed until he develops more. And I havent yet found a vet I completely trust and Ive been to a few. Ill see what the vet says next week.

Hi I recently got a bichon puppy. He's almost 6 months old and his adult canine teeth on top have come half way through in the same sockets as his baby canine teeth which havent fallen out and still feel quite firmly rooted. He's bottom canine teeth havent yet emerged but I can see them there in his gums just inside where his baby canines are but not in the same sockets. I think the roots have pushed the baby canines further out to make way but they havent fallen out. I want to get a few opinions on when I should go to the vet to get the baby canine teeth extracted if they still dont fall out? Im worried that my dog's teeth are going to end up misaligned. Is it better to act now and get his baby canine teeth extracted before the adult ones come out to make room? Ive not spoken to a vet as I feel I might be pressured into a decision if I dont do my research first.

One more question - if I treat my dog for fleas with advocate in a particular month and she is due for a worming treatment in that same month (assuming I treat her every 3 months) do I still need to do the worming treatment if Ive already used adovcate? Anyone know? Thanks!

Yeah my dog usually doesnt have fleas and I have advantage as well and use it when I find a flea. Do you use tablets? Whats a good worming treatment to use?

Hi Does anyone know if using advocate once a month is enough to treat/control worms or if a separate worming tablet is best? It says: "Complete all in one treatment for dogs. Treatment and prevention of fleas (flea life cycle). Heartworm prevention. Treatment and control of roundworm, whipworm, hookworm, generalised demodicosis, sarcoptic mange, ear mites and lice." Im not sure if my dog has worms but I noticed some clear gooey stuff stuck to her poo. But she's not exhibiting any other signs of worms like weight loss or increased appetite. She does lick her bottom a fair bit.

My dog was home all by herself today and when I came home tonight I found chocolate when she had unwrapped and eaten (possibly ate some of the foil too) I think she might have eaten one or two small solid chocolate eggs. I havent seen her exhibit any illness except that she quite thirsty and her bellys bloated with water. I know even a bit of chocolate is dangerous for dogs. What might happen to my dog and what signs should I look out for??

I wash my dog in warm water, like water I would wash my face with, and as soon as I stop the water to give her a massage I see her legs shivering! And this is in the bathroom with the door closed and no wind! Also Im using the Groomers Product EPO shampoo and they recommend I was every 4 days for a while to get itchy skin under control. The oils need heat to sink into the skin so wouldnt it be a good thing if warm water opens the pores and lets the oils in? I dont think shampoo could get into the pores. I read a lot of debate about how often dogs should be washed and Im confused! If I dont wash my dog for a month shes oily and smelly like if I dont wash my hair for a month.

I bought the 2.5L bottle of EPO shampoo. Im going to do the first wash for my dog tomorrow! Any tips on washing and blowdrying the head area? I have particular problems blowdrying in particular. But my dog scratches around the ears so I want the shampoo to work there too.

I know people on this forum use the neem spray to keep fleas away. On their website it says that you can use the neem concentrated dog and kennel wash 10:1 to refill. Does this mean that the pet spray is just a diluted version of the dog and kennel wash? Because the wash is 10 times cheaper than the spray! And also is anyone using the pet powder with good results? My dog has been on almost two weeks of cortizon tablets and shes still itching sometimes (although less than before!) so Ill give this a try and hope it works! How often do you guys wash your dogs with the EPO?

So is there much difference between the regular grade and the vet grade shampoo? Which one is everyone using?
