  1. I have seen a female with such an ulcer on her lip caused by the constant licking of her puppies bottoms. Try not to worry too much (: I know that it is difficult not to.
  2. I am looking for a good vet in the Campbelltown area for one of my puppy people.
  3. Congratulations on your litter 8 is a great number.
  4. One of my puppies is not eating today, she refused breakfast and this afternoon ate a small amount of chicken though I have just tried her again and she refused, temp is normal 38.3C she had 1 episode of diarrhoea, she is drinking water and is not dehydrated.
  5. 3 litters in 18 months, have it terminated, do the right thing by your dog (: . You do have to watch your females a little better !
  6. Thanks Shazza, I will give the already made batch to the other dogs and just give her the goat milk.
  7. Kirislin, I would love for her to be with her mum, they bonded so well, though mum was way over the top with cleaning her, I was constantly telling her off as she refused to leave the baby alone even when the baby was feeding mum kept knocking her off to clean her. After 36 hours the pup started looking rather weak and lethargic so I took her away, she had lost over 30gm from birth weight so I started to supplement her, within 24 hours she was almost back to her birth weight so I tried her again with mum and within an hour she was once again looking sickly. Mum had very little milk even though she had been having goat milk, eggs and probiotic for 2 weeks prior to whelping, she did not go in to labour, not temp drop, no nesting, no milk production, no loss of mucous plug. My vet and I were aware that she was only carrying 1 puppy and decided to do the Caesar. It is quite possible that the little milk mum produced was toxic to the puppy.
  8. I have a 4 day old singleton GSD puppy, born 4 days ago by Caesarian, bottle fed on goat milk, Jalna Greek yoghurt & egg yolk is a little constipated. I was thinking of giving her a couple of drops of either olive oil or paraffin oil any other suggestions please, I also have a Microlax enema here and I could give a micro amount if required. She was removed from her mum after 36 hours and failing to thrive she is eager to suckle ( perhaps to eager )putting on weight, she is active and only crying if due for a feed so I don't think that she is uncomfortable in any way but I am concerned that she is only passing small amounts of rather firm poos and her stomach is quite distended. This is my first singleton ever and it is quite a long time since I hand reared puppies. Thanks for any advice.
  9. Congratulations 1 of each, I hope they are both little crackers.
  10. You just got to love those GR puppies, I'll take miss Pink ...... Too cute.
  11. Well Bella whelped her litter yesterday all 12 of them but sadly 5 didn't survive, 4 were born breach and had placental detachment with no chance of survival. End result is 1 boy and 6 girls. I will post a photo later as I haven't taken them off my camera
  12. Too funny PomsNZ Her previous litters were 8 & 9, this will be her final litter as she is 6 years old and time for retirement.

  18. German Shepherd Dogs due November 23rd
  19. How is the pups cord now? Is she leaving it alone, hope that she is too busy at the moment. Do have any forceps? Styptic pencil?
  20. My whelping box is 1.20 x 1.50 and I use 1 large piece of vet bed, definitely won't fit in the washing machine so I just hose it on the concrete and hang on the line, dries quickly. Last litter I also used the marine carpet, it was great.
  21. If you have a good relationship with your vet, Pay them a visit and ask about paying for your chips and have them give you the numbers and they will retain the chips for insertion when vaccinating.
  22. I also live on farm land but my dogs are contained in back yard size runs or in the kennel block and I do also use crates sometimes, yes, even though they have freedom to run and play all day it is surprising how many hours they sleep. Living on a farm does NOT mean that they have more freedom than other peoples dogs, it doesn't, all walks have to be on leash because the of the possibility of meeting up with wildlife, wombats, kangaroos, deer, not to mention snakes, goannas and other lizards all of which would be fair game for a chase if free. We don't have any stock but neighbors, all of who I would like to remain friendly with, do have cattle, sheep, alpacas and horses. Dogs that have complete freedom on farms are a disaster waiting to happen I believe. Sorry went a little of topic, I have no problems with using crates one of mine has suddenly decided that is where she wants to sleep every night even though she is closed in.
