  1. Your vet should have picked up a cleft palate at the post whelping check, (you did say that they were checked)
  2. Thanks, My OH will just love to hear that I don't think for 1 minute that he is about to dig up HIS PRECIOUS LAWN
  3. Bedding is a blanket on top of a trampoline bed -- that is usually pulled of during the night games Detergent is one that I purchase from the vet where I work -- same as we use at the clinic. Grass and plants --- Kikuyu around the house yard, we live on a rural property so mainly feral native grasses. Not many other plants because I am replanting my gardens with dog friendly plants as the previous owner had lots of bulbs and other things I didn't like. Not on carpet at all. I will cut out the beef for a while.
  4. I have a 10 week old GSD puppy, bred by me, she has not had a change of diet since she was weaned (is currently on Pro Plan 28% protein) but in the past 10 days she has been scratching her chest & stomach constantly causing severe hair loss. I was rather sure that it had to be a contact allergy so I place her and the remaining siblings into another out door run but the scratching continued so off to the vet. Vet checked out no temp, everything else was fine no fleas, no Sarcopties, no Demodex , as I had expected as there were no clinical signs of mites or fleas, Vet gave antihistamine and Dex inj and it did settle down for a few days and then flared up again so back to the vet this time advised to give antihistamine tabs 2 x daily for 4 or 5 days. So we are really back to the drawing board, now checking out LOW Protein dog foods I am thinking of changing her onto Bonnie Working Dog along with my adult dogs. Kibble is just a part of her diet along with yogurt, eggs, beef, chicken & vegies. Any recommendations of other Low Protein ( less than 28%) dog foods. Thanks in Advance.
  5. Thanks everyone, I was starting to think that it was only me (paranoid when it comes to my puppies) Spoke to them, just a small family gathering and puppy will be given prior to the actual time of the party and married daughter said she will take good care of her tomorrow night.
  6. I have a holding deposit on a puppy that a family has purchased for Dads 50th, now they are telling me that they intend to give her at his b' party and now I am having grave misgivings about selling the puppy, What would you do, I am thinking that I should hold her back and say that she is not well or something? This puppy is 9 weeks old and has never seen more that 4 or 5 people at a time she may be fine but there again she may be terrified. This is why I never let puppies go before Chrismas and now I feel commited.
  7. Early days, I really hope that you do not end up disillusioned. I have a litter at the moment and right now I am really fed up with puppy buyers. They want a puppy BUT don't want to leave a deposit, want to show, have pick or at least 2nd pick puppy. Want me to export but expect ME to do all of the organizing. NO talk of paying for extras. Expecting me to hold onto puppy for extra time with no deposit. I have bred 8 litters and this is the first time I have wanted to say *%*&%##77 Sorry for the bad language.
  8. I really don't think that there would be anyone out there that would even want to take photos of a puppy with Parvo, once seen NEVER FORGOTTEN. Something we would rather put out of our minds and not rehash with photos --- Sorry
  9. You need to MAKE SURE that your dogs are secure so that he cannot get to her, CRATE if necessary or are you prepared to keep on using the drug as a contraceptive!! NOT a good idea. I for one would never use it twice in succession.
  10. I don't let my vet extend puppies legs, they always wriggle and cry, vets are often rough and take the puppy by surprise and why do it unless the puppy is lame or showing signs of lameness? JPS surgery has to be done as a preventative and cannot be done after 22 weeks of age, they say best done at 20 weeks.

    The Washing!

You could try some water filled balloons tied to the line ( but I bet your dogs really love water ) Is it possible to only hang your washing out when they are not free or just prior to going for a walk then it will be dry when you get home? I know that it is a very expensive and frustrating problem but washing blowing in the breeze is very tempting to puppies and you have 2 very big ones going through the teenage period. Good Luck.
  12. Sorry edited for double post
  13. GOOD FOR YOU FIND ANOTHER VET !!!!!!!!
  14. Here we go again, this will not go away, I have had it with these vets, I have a litter ATM aged 7 weeks and they will all leave home with a big red letter to BEWARE OF VETS THAT BRING UP THE SUBJECT OF JPS SURGERY. Yes we are all aware that HD can crop up anywhere in any breed BUT they are trying to convince owners that they can (vets) can reduce the possibility of their precious puppy of ever getting HD, even in breeds that must have hip & elbow result prior to being registered with the Canine Council. They use scare tactics, they can see Bugger all from PENN HIP xrays at 4 months, and PENN HIP xrays have to be assessed to be of any use and your local vet cannot do that. OK enough said, I have already dealt with vets in ACT re this subject Plus another in the Newcastle area. ALL WE CAN DO IS TO WARN ALL PUPPY BUYERS TO BEWARE OF VETS WHO TALK TO THEM ABOUT JPS SURGERY
  15. I am only 5' 2" and I can step over the Bunning ones very easily ( That is as long as I don't have puppies hanging of my pants, socks, shoes or shirt ) Oh the joys of puppies.
  16. Bunnings compost bins for me also I have been using them recently for my GSD litter of 8 Worked very well.
  17. Mine are almost 6 weeks now. They love to be outside and mum is always there to keep an eye on them, I know that I am so very lucky that she is a good mum but I am starting to worry about how I am going to get her to start leaving them, eight big puppies are starting to wear here down but she gets so stressed if I put her in a run away from them. They are on 3 meals a day but she always goes in and tops them up even though they are full as gooks and don't need it. We are also thankful that it hasn't been too hot.
  18. Very cute. Love those fat little faces.
  19. I have a litter of puppies ATM and have a RAID automatic in the puppy area works wonders BUT what are those Electrified Tennis Thingies, they sound like they would be great fun ? Where could I buy one?
  20. During the days when we all used to use a FLEA WASH when we bathed our dogs I remember a client of our vet hospital ringing and telling us that he had just had a shower with his dog and had use a flea rinse on the dog and would the flea rinse give him the shakes. YES we informed him GET to the doctor right away ~~~~ he was quite sick.
  21. I have been on the phone to my local Bunnings store, first person had no idea next said no they had none in stock but were on order so I placed an order for 3, 10 minutes later a phone call saying that they had heaps they are (only 45 minutes away ) and sent my OH off to buy 3 of them. I hope that will be enough ? My puppy run area is to big for 4 week olds so I thought that these might be better for the fist few times outside.
  22. My 4 week olds kept me awake half the night playing with the newspaper that I put down for them to toilet on It was so funny just watching them I think they are getting the right idea though as most of the wees were on the paper, maybe they just mopped it all up as they were playing.
  23. You are doing the right thing cleanse, dry and add antiseptic, may be some PawPaw ointment.
