Quite possibly Puppy Strangles,

Definitely NOT. Would you rather your dog gets sun burnt? Just be careful not to over exercise, find a place where you can swim and give the dog time to acclimatise. Your dogs coat is it's insulation.

2 Month Flea And Tick Tablet?
Fordogs replied to sallyandtex's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No Idea but I would love to hear more. -
I always separate my bitch from the rest for at least 3 weeks as they are very protective of their puppies. A person I know allowed all 3 of his other dogs to climb into the whelping box, lay down with the babies, race around in the same room, He rung me because mum refused to have anything to do with the puppies, she was outside playing with the other dogs and not tending to her babies. He ended up having to take over full care of the litter when they were only a couple of days old but it could have been avoided had he taken control and removed the other dogs. :banghead: I hate it when people ask for advise and then don't listen.

Why not give them a little PROTEXIN paste twice a day on your finger? That's what I use during the weaning stage if they get soft poos.

If he is that sensitive leave it to the experts, the last thing you want to do is cut his foot then he will never let anyone touch them again.

I have had some success with ginger biscuits 1/2 biscuit 20 minutes before trip and the other half 5 minutes prior to trip. My girl is just 5 months and she is somewhat better, she only drools a little now, no vomiting for a few weeks. She is still not real happy about going in the car but a lot better that she was 8 weeks ago. I have been taking her out in the car at least 3 times a week.

Rebanne & Liz, I am hopeful that it won't need to go that route though I have spoken to a lawyer and he will act for me if required. I have not heard from them for over a week. I have not notified them or their vet that I have had the hips scored so if any action is forth coming from them I will simply produce the score results. They actually gave me a deadline to respond or pay up and it past last Friday.

What Do You Do With Your Dogs When You Go Away?
Fordogs replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Go Away? Take a Holiday? How does one do that? It has been quite a few years since we did that. The last time we did that we traveled to QLD for a show 6 years ago with all of the dogs (only had 4 then ). -
The results are in ..................... Because of the situation I had to have a professional read the xray .......... The total hip score is 6 so she had very good hips well below the breed average of 13.07. No real joy in that for anyone unfortunately but it does help me somewhat regarding my breeding. .........

Wazzat so sad for you

Liz, not wanting to Hijack my own thread but,,, Please tell me what vet would xray a dog first then go ahead and do the desexing if they thought the hips looked to be stuffed?? Owners said that the puppy had HD, spoke to 2 vets and both deny that they said she had HD and should be PTS so (1) owners are telling lies (2) vets are telling lies (3) the puppy had no previous history of being lame. Yes, as New Owner they had every right to do as they like but why put her to sleep then expect me to refund the puppy price plus money spent when I cannot prove other wise as she is dead and buried all I have is a photo of her xray which is of poor quality. As yet I do not have a copy of their vets diagnosis (which is odd as they did send me the opinion of another local vet) and the end result is dead puppy. It is always the poor bloody dog that has to suffer. If they had been willing to have a professional look at the xray as I asked this would all be over for them and me. Yes I have a professional opinion of the xray.

That looks to be a heavy dose of dandruff to me. I would have him checked, better to get it under control before it gets any worse.

I have been wondering about how many dogs have been operated on for serious invasive problems and how many people actually take their dog for a second opinion before going ahead with the procedure?? I am not about to knock vets but during the last couple of years I have had my eyes opened, I have had puppy buyers who are very upset ring and say that their vet has said all kinds of things could be a problem and I have to tell them if they are concerned by all means go to another vet BUT I will always try to steer them towards a vet that I know of or have heard good things about and most times they do discover that there is no problem at all or it is a puppy and it is part of it's normal development. I also find that most dog owners always trust everything their vet tells them, without question. SO do you trust a poor diagnosis or go for the second opinion???

WooHoo, Was that your first email to this breeder? I would have slammed the door in your face. Had you spoken on the phone prior to the email?? First contact you should have introduced your self first before asking the breeder what she has for breakfast. You would be a breeders Nightmare, most of those questions could have been sorted out over a period of time once you got to know each other.

How old is Buckley? Could he be teething? He might have a broken tooth and it has abscessed.
-
I have spoken to a Lawyer today and he has said that if the picture was freely given to me then it is mine to do as I wish.
-
That is exactly what I will be doing, I know that she was put to sleep for some reason and it wasn't for bad hips they look good.
-
I doubt very much that they thought that I would keep it private, after all they had the puppy euthanized and they refused to have the xray sent to a radiology specialist, as her breeder she should have been returned to me rather than have her euthanized. I am sure that anyone in my position would have already published this photo especially as they are threatening me with legal action.
-
This photograph is a copy xray of a puppy I bred and owned by these people for only 2 weeks then they had her Put to Sleep and told me that she had Hip Dysplasia --- NOT. This is a follow on to PLEASE TELL ME WHY WE BREED.
-
They will never give it because it would portray them in a negative manner.
-
If I have been sent a photograph regarding a dog that I previously bred and owned do I then own that photo??? and can I then publish that photo and make comments??

You could also wipe with a cotton bud moistened with diluted Betadine.

Clipping A Double Coated Breed
Fordogs replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sorry, Not wanting to hijack this thread but you may not have found many ticks on the tail BUT how bad would you feel if one was there and you missed it. I do admit that most ticks are found on the face and chest BUT does that mean that you only have to clip the face and chest?????? Why not just stop when you find the tick? Sorry but I worked as a vet nurse in a tick area for 13 years and I truly believe that my boss would have raised the roof if we left any hair on the feet, tail or face, just so the dog still looked nice.
