Stunning dogs you have there! How did you find it raising two dogs from the same litter? Are they very closely bonded?
-
Breeders aren't a special group of people who all like the same things! Best to go by whatever they say on their website - usually they give some indication of how they like to be contacted.

I have heard he is a bit of a tool. Very strange conversation!

My two are leg-lickers too!

Don't know that I'd call it bizarre, but my two are the same, they will play anywhere, any time: on my bed, under my feet while I'm trying to cook dinner, playing fetch, when I'm on the phone, etc etc. I have had to make a rule "no playing in the house" as it is just too much! Especially as Leia is a growler, so it's noisy!! efs

I guess I'll have to try it out to get a real feel for it. My OH basically said when it works, it's a real time saver.

If breeders don't like "how much?" emails, that problem could well be solved by being upfront about their prices in the first place. That way, any inquiries that come through will be from people who already know what the financial commitment is and are still wanting to know about the puppies. Why waste both parties' time determining if the home is suitable only to find out the price is beyond their means? I don't see what is to be gained from hiding your prices from other breeders either.

Interesting. Did you do any additional cloning or were you solely using content-aware fill. Because I was watching my husband play around with this the other day and it was giving totally random results. It was filling the selected area with random areas of the remaining image, often not working properly at all, then randomly it would just work perfectly. He said it was still useful in conjunction with normal cloning but certainly didn't look to me like the "instamagic" results they showed in the demo video.

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
macka replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Just from doing a search of Jed's posts, this is Magnus, TBCSITW, and he is 10 years old: -
Leia has allergies also and gets red and sore between the pads but I've never seen sores on the actual pads before. Could still be allergies though. Get well soon Mason!

This article seems to have the most accurate info: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/05/12/2896888.htm My heart goes out to Jed and her family. -
Ouch! Has he been chewing/biting at them? Poor Mason, let us know what the vet says!

You are very dedicated! I don't have any suggestions really, just wanted to say I hope your back feels better soon! Can Riddick "speak"? You could try to teach that without moving!

Teaching A Dog To Only Eat When A Command Is Given.
macka replied to Whipitgood's topic in General Dog Discussion
I used the triangle of temptation to teach my lab to wait until I say OK before he eats his food. I can put it right under his nose or walk well away from him and he won't touch it until the command is given. He also has learned not to eat my other dog's food (but will still sit and stare at it ). I don't know what he'd do if a stranger offered him food when I wasn't here (probably just gobble it up ) but if you start with TOT that at least teaches them to wait until the command is given, then you can gradually increase the time and distance from you that the dog will wait. Don't know how you'd go about proofing it when you are not around though. -
Anyone Had Any Bad Experiences With This Company
macka replied to labsrule's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe you should report them to the ACCC or some such organisation. I am lucky I only placed one order with them and it arrived safe and sound. Although I did make a mistake with the order and tried to correct it by email and phone to no avail. -
We go to one who is lovely, small business just around the corner in a old-fashion small strip of shops. A friend of my brother's works there but all the others are lovely too. Our other local butcher which is inside a shopping centre just flat out refuses to sell dog bones. Who knows what they do with them. Their loss as we are vegetarian so I have no other reason to visit a butcher.

They look like they're having a great time. Just watch one doesn't get a jaw caught in another's collar.

I hope your Teds up there is better than the Sydney city one. There's nothing they can tell you that you can't learn through your own research. You obviously like forums, why not visit a photography forum and ask for some more help/opinions there.

Here are some examples of the type of artifacts that can be caused by a UV filter on the end of the lens: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/attachme...ilter-flare.jpg http://toothwalker.org/optics/filterflare.html http://www.riseofx.com/flare1.jpg It's particularly bad when shooting into lights at night time. Once you've had a photo ruined by a cheap filter, you give up on them pretty quickly.

Does PAX's kennel have a name and by any chance a website? I like to file these things away in case I need them in future.

Hmmm... I wish I knew that about 12 years ago when I worked for a camera wholesaler and people would bring in their scratched lenses. I could have told them all they were making it up and sent them on their way. I don't know who told you that. Obviously it takes a bit of a whack or some sort of pressure to scratch them but it's not as uncommon as you seem to think. (but personally, I don't use filters either.) I'm not saying it's not possible, but it takes a fair whack as you said and some carelessness or accident such as dropping it, which will often cause bigger problems than a filter can prevent anyway. I just think when you are weighing up the risk of scratching your lens against the horrid artifacts etc caused by crappy filters, I'd rather take the risk of scratching and just make sure I am careful with my lenses.

When we got Leia, my OH and I were temporarily living with my parents to save up for a deposit to buy our first home. She was originally to be my mum's dog as we didn't know if we'd be able to afford a place with a backyard or one where we'd be allowed to have a dog. Nevertheless since we were living there for a while, we had input into what sort of dog we were getting. I had a preference for a couple of different pure breeds, but mum and I couldn't agree on any of them so we "compromised" by getting a cross breed. We didn't know anything about the differences between registered breeders and BYB back then, and knew nothing of health tests. All we knew were that pet shops and puppy farms were bad, so we were looking for a puppy from a family home. So that's how we ended up picking up this little female pup from someone who's pet had had puppies. When I saw her photo it was love at first sight. First days home: Despite possibly being the naughtiest puppy in the world, I bonded to her instantly, and as I took her to obedience, walked her each day, fed and bathed her and played with her, it became apparent that she had become my dog rather than my mum's. When we did buy our own house and moved out, there was never any question that she was coming with me. :D She is SO smart and such a sweet little thing, every night without fail she comes and sits on my lap while I watch TV or read a book. She still has a naughty streak :p and keeps us on our toes, ;) but we just love her to bits. When Leia was about 18 months old and we had finally got her naughtiness under control, OH and I started to think about getting a second dog. By this time I had learned a lot more about dogs and breeders and health tests, so we knew this time we'd be buying a puppy from a registered breeder. We talked for months about which breeds would suit us and I had email conversations with at least 10 different breeders before we finally made a decision on a Labrador Retriever puppy. There was one breeder in particular that I liked the sound of and she had just mated one of her girls so we asked to be added to the list for a puppy from that litter. We waited for what seemed like forever, receiving weekly updates of mum's belly, before finally puppies were born and it was confirmed that there was a black boy available to us if we wanted one. Of course we did. ;) So 8 long weeks later I brought home 6kg of pure black cuteness. It took me a little longer to bond to Archer as he was a bit unsettled at first; and it took Leia a couple of weeks to accept that he was here to stay. However, he soon wormed his way into our hearts, and now I can't remember what it was like without him. Leia has also come to love her annoying little brother and they are constantly playing together. Archer is possibly the biggest sook in the world and loves his cuddles. He has been the easiest puppy, I keep waiting for him to go through a naughty patch but don't think he will as he is just so eager to please, he hates getting in trouble and when he does, just gives you the most pathetic look that you can't help but forgive him instantly. I love my handsome boy. :D

I have to agree with Schnauzer boy, I only purchase my camera gear 'grey' or second-hand. If I were you I would look at the D90 or a second hand D40/D60.
