Save your money - you will have gotten a more accurate guess from this thread than you will from that test. My guess is also some staffie or rotti in there. I had a lab x staffie as a kid and she looked a lot like him, she also had the white patch on her chest. She was lovely to our family but she didnt like strangers at all! Not saying he is one, but purebred labs can have a white mark on their chest, it is even permissible (though not desirable) in the show ring, so that in itself doesn't mean much. I would say Lab x Rottie because of the head shape and ears. Don't waste your money on the Bitsa test.

What Does Your Dog Do That Makes You Laugh?
macka replied to fiveplusone's topic in General Dog Discussion
OMG Macka, Archie does this too !! Sometimes he stays in that position just watching what's going on around him. Front legs on floor, back legs still up on the couch. Must be a lab trait, Mason does it too, OH finds it hilarious! my GSP does this too HAHA! Can't believe there are others out there! Yes, sometimes he does the reflective pause while his back legs are still up on the couch, surveying the world for a while. It cracks me up! -
What Does Your Dog Do That Makes You Laugh?

When I give Archer a pigs ear, he doesn't just settle down and eat it, he has to do several "victory laps" of the house first, holding his head up high with the pigs ear in his mouth as he runs, it's hilarious. Sometimes if I am watching TV and Leia decides she wants attention, she comes and stands on my lap staring directly at my face so that I can't watch TV, I know it's not great manners but it always just makes me laugh. When Archer gets off a lounge chair he doesn't just jump off, he always has to slide his front half off first, then stretch his back out while his back legs are still on top of the chair, then slowly slide forward until his back legs fall onto the floor. When I come outside to find that Leia has buried herself underneath the lounge cover and just has her little head poking out. ;) -

Labs are not independent IMO. They bond very closely to their handlers and love nothing more than to be by your side. Mine copes just fine while we are at work, however he does have another dog for company. You'd be crazy to think that crossing two breeds would give you the best of both worlds. What it will give you is uncertainty about just exactly what sort of dog you are getting. If you like Labs and you like Weims, why don't you talk to some breeders to get a better idea of which one would be best? Puppies chew things and just about any breed would be quite capable of chewing up a pair of shoes or a handbag, so if you don't want things chewed, you're going to have to A)keep them out of reach, and B)teach your puppy not to chew your things and C)give the puppy appropriate things that it is allowed to chew. With regards to shedding, labs shed like crazy, so if you want a lab you just have to accept there will be dog hair around, and yes (gasp!) it does get on your clothes.

We keep in touch via email and facebook, and if one of us was visiting near the other I reckon we'd drop in for a coffee or something, but we're not like besties or anything. She's lovely though.

Second shot of the penguin has a cool colour cast intentially as light was dropping, sun had set and I wanted to show the mood of the evening, it was freezing! Now looking at it, I'm wondering if I should remove it in photoshop, but my husband has banned me from the computer during weeknights because I'm trying to go through so many photos for the website. "Seal infested waterfall" I only found it as the guy who owned the B&B at Kaikoura told us to go to it on our way out of town, heading north. All I remember is you pass that crayfish caravan, "Nims" and there is a sign about a hike in the Nat Park. This wooden sign is opposite the ocean. The seals must cross under the road to get to the waterfall, there is no sign saying beware of lumbering seals crossing or anything. They are friendly, it's just that a larger one took a real interest in either me or my camera and I wasn't going to hang around to see if it was friendliness or he wanted to chase me out of his territory. Macka may remember exactly where it is as she took photos on her trip. Hmm I don't really remember exactly. We only found it cos some guy we met down at the beach in Kaikoura told us about it. Apparently the babies are only there in great numbers at one time of the year, around August. It's a little walking track just off the main coastal road, opposite the beach. I'm sure if you asked around, the locals would know about it. We saw lots of babies:

Hi Goldee, 50x75 inches or cm? 15MP should be able to print up to 22 x 30 inches without enlarging.

No worries. Wasn't that place just amazing? It was like some sort of fantasy land... a walk through a rainforest to find a beautiful waterfall FULL of baby seals!

Some lenses are much faster focussing than others as well.

Looking good Fran! 2nd lot look better as they have greater contrast, compared to the 1st lot which look a little washed out. It's always going to be tricky shooting a black dog and a white dog together in the same frame. I think you've done pretty well! Focus looks good to me on most of them - you're never going to get every shot in focus when you're shooting a running dog. Faster shutter speeds help but if you can still easily miss the focus. You will get better at this with practice. Does your camera have different focussing modes to play around with?

Love this! Nice work Ripley! P.s I can see all the photos.

Another Labrador owner here. It's EVERYWHERE - ALL of the time. You are either forever sweeping/vacuuming or just learn to live with it. I choose the latter and only sweep once midweek and vacuum on weekends. The vacuum cleaner is FULL of black hair every weekend. I think it was Rubystar who said Labradors only shed once a year - it lasts about 365 days.

I don't know where these people come from as I've never met any. :D Any time I have met someone in the park with a cross breed they tell me their dog is a whatever X whatever. I have had one person tell me their dog was a labradoodle but she didn't use the term purebred. I really do wonder what the puppy farmers and pet shops are telling people to convince them that their dog is a purebred cross breed!

I dare say it will be cancelled.

The cheapest ones are on ebay - I have had both soft and collapsible metal from "All Pet Homes" ebay shop and they are great. They are approx $130 delivered to Sydney, for a Labrador size.

How To Get Rid Of A Mouse Problem With Out Affecting The Dogs
macka replied to BustaGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Confine your dogs to crates or one bedroom overnight and put out heaps of traps, pick them all up in the morning before letting the dogs out. On the traps try peanut butter, or cheese, but melt the cheese on to the trap so that it's well stuck on there. -
Do You Go Out Of Your Way To Give Your Dogs Alone Time?
macka replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
My situation is similar to Tollersowned. My two enjoy each other's company during the day - the neighbours tell me they play a lot and I see them play a lot when I am home as well. I still wouldn't call them super closely bonded as they are quite capable of being separated without tantrums and do not sleep on top of one another or cuddle up together. Archer misses Leia when she is not around more than she misses him, I think because he has never known a life without her, whereas she was an only dog for 18 months before we got him. At the moment I am taking Archer to training on his own and both dogs are fine with that. I walk them together most days but separately a few times/week. -
This is basically why I decided to desex Archer at 7 months. He started marking and while that in itself wasn't a big deal, I started thinking about other potential behavioural challenges that we might face by leaving him entire for longer and decided that I just wasn't confident enough in my training ability to take that risk. That, and every vet I asked (4 in total) recommended 6 months.

Us too I bought mine from the supermarket for about $5, looks similar to this: I use one of these too, in the laundry tub for Leia as she is small enough to fit in there. I wash Archer in the spa bath in my brother's bathroom, which is disgusting enough already that a few stray dog hairs won't be noticed. It has a shower over the bath with a detachable shower head on a hose.

We have chain-link fencing at our house but thankfully the gardens are well established with vines and bushes obscuring most of the view through the fence. There was one part that was next to a path (so no gardens) so I went to Bunnings and got that bark privacy screen stuff and spent a day attaching it to the fence. It looked great actually... we'll see how long it lasts. It would be a big job to cover all the fences around a house if you are starting from scratch... but doable.

I sold mine to my mum for $800 back in January.

My puppy had a C3 at 6 weeks, then a nobivac C5 at 12 weeks. He will have one annual booster and then shouldn't need another one for 3 years.

I thought that apple seeds were bad also... can someone confirm or deny?
