  1. I recommend these guys. http://www.rgbdigital.com.au/
  2. Gum trees do shed, but all that material is free mulch for your garden beds!!
  3. German Shepherd Dog ETA Beaten!!
  4. I have a golden robinia in my yard, quite a large one, and yes, we have suckers everywhere! It is a nice tree but has this unfortunate side effect. And because it is a grafted tree, the suckers are horrible thorny things which don't have the lovely golden colour of the original tree. Mind you, the ones in the garden are easily pulled out when small, but because we back onto council land I can see them popping up over the other side of the fence where I can't get to them, and there are a few in the neighbours backyard as well which have just about grown into their own trees. Another worry is if your neighbours get suckers in their yard and posien them, it can actualy kill your tree. Nice tree to look at but not something I'd plant given the choice. What's wrong with a good old gum tree?
  5. True. If you find a place... there is no harm in calling them up and asking if it's pet friendly. Some will say no straight away, and some will ask about the pets and stuff. then ask the real estate people if they know any pet friendly rentals around there. good luck Nush!! Exactly... I'm about to put my house on the rental market and I don't plan on advertising it as pet friendly. However if the right tenant comes along who happens to have a dog I would probably say yes provided they have pet references. Where about Macka? North Rocks. Will be available from 20th Feb. I may post a link next week when the ad is up.

  7. Yes, when we were living at my parents house Leia found a stuffed toy guinea pig one day, and was so chuffed with herself, it was the only stuffed toy at the time that she didn't destroy. To this day it is one of her favourite toys. I don't know where it came from, but I suspect under the house as it was filthy and I had to wash it! Now any time we go over to that house, she will disappear for a minute and then come back with some gross old toy that she had hidden away at one stage, and look very pleased with herself.
  8. I don't mind Cesar but there are probably better things out there. I am going to recommend you get yourself a copy of Really Reliable Recall (DVD) simply because I wish someone had told me to get that when my girl was a puppy! I also agree with Persephone about Dog Star Daily - great resource for new puppy owners.
  9. Speak to your breeder before getting xrays and things done. They may have some advice on which vets to see.
  10. Hello! Your little one will soon settle into her new routine. In the meantime, come join us in the lab thread where pics are compulsory! http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...amp;start=16650

  12. I'd bring him inside and I'd also add that if he is only barking at night, get his eyes tested.
  13. "Leia" As in Princess Leia from Star Wars. :D
  14. The fact that they are selling all pups on main register is a concern. I personally wouldn't buy from these people.
  15. When I was looking for my lab puppy I wrote off two breeders for offering me a puppy straight away without asking me any questions. Just didn't feel right.
  16. Gosh, really? Grass needs WATERING?! Yeah I've been painfully watering it to no avail But hmm, not for an hour a day, that seems excessive! Plus we have water restrictions. Thanks, I hope so too! It's garbage grass though, and I suspect that the soil it was grown in at the turf farm is the culprit for the toadstools I now have growing there as well! They weren't there before the new grass Of course, I can't prove it, so just have to keep checking the grass every morning and night for them to pull them out before the dogs eat them! 7 or so weeks straight with no drop of rain here in Perth certainly hasn't helped matters, that's for sure. We neeeeeeeeed rain  Yeah I know that stuff that falls from the sky makes stuff grow, it's great! Water restrictions are an issue... but if you paid for all that nice new grass, I'd be watering the hell out of it. Bad luck about the toadstools, we have a couple pop up from time to time at our place as well.
  17. Have you been watering it enough? You really need to water new grass... a lot! Like an hour sprinkler a day. Good luck, hope it recovers soon!
  18. I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to it. My female dog used to hump some of her toys as a puppy, but grew out of it.
  19. My breeder listened to what I wanted and helped me narrow it down to two pups, then I got to choose out of the two. I found her help to be invaluable as when you are looking down at a litter of 9 black labs you can barely tell them apart, let alone pick which one is right for you! I think if you have found a breeder you trust and respect, you should take their advice!
  20. They need to spend the two weeks getting the puppy used to being on its own. Starting with 1 hour on the first day then building it up. Otherwise the puppy will stress when they go back to work.
  21. See this thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=179286
  22. If you are keen on a young adult dog have a look at those being rehomed by breeders on the mature dogs listing. There are two adult labs in VIC looking for new homes. There are also some Weims but they are interstate. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/dogs.asp
  23. I think it can be done provided they have plenty of quality interaction with the dog when they are home. I would also suggest two dogs would be better. Perhaps they could look at adopting an older dog and once it is settled in and trained to their liking, then looking at getting a puppy down the track. Puppies are so much easier when you already have a well-behaved older dog in the household. One thing they should consider as a young couple is will they still have adequate time for their dog(s) if they decide to have children down the track?
  24. I first read this as dog-eating insects!!! Just a bit of extra protein!
