No aircon just for the dogs but if it's quite hot and I hear panting, I will sometimes leave a pedestal fan on them, with the crate half covered so that they can get out of the air flow if they prefer.

Yes the kibble bag recommended feeding amounts are way off IMO. I currently feed Archer ~75% of the recommended amount on the bag. The other thing people don't realise is when you add treats/chewies/leftovers you need to subtract from their daily meal to compensate.

Has she been clipped or is she wet? I thought GRs had more hair than I can see in your photo. If so that will make her look skinnier.

Have the puppy collar on whenever you are home to supervise. (Or get a break-away collar which you can leave on all the time). Ignore any scratching/carrying on. He will get used to it in no time.

Hmm I can relate. With a lab and a poodleXmutt who sheds constantly, we always seem to have little black tumbleweeds appearing about the place. We were on hols for a week last week and the house was spotless when we left. Or so I thought. But somehow when we got back there were new hair balls floating around the timber floors. I can only assume that they are breeding! Don't know that there is too much you can do apart from what you are already doing.

Oh I hope poor Archie feels better soon.

Check chains are not allowed at my club. I think this is a good thing, not because I don't like check chains (I think they have their place, along with martingales, prongs, etc), but because the trainers are volunteers and I wouldn't trust that they had the ability to show someone how to use one properly, so they'd end up being misused. I like my club, it's just a bit of fun for me and the dog, but the trainers can be quite variable and I've learned to ignore a lot of the advice from them (although some has been quite useful).

Doggy day care might be fun for a treat, but your pup will need to be alone at some point, and it's important that you teach him how to be happy alone, from the beginning! Have a read of this article for ideas on how to teach this: http://www.dogstardaily.com/training/home-alone If you are anxious about leaving your dog alone, your dog will sense this and you will create an anxious dog. Treat leaving him alone as it is - no big deal - and he will learn that it's no big deal.

I just put them out and go! I sometimes do give them chewies/everlasting treats/treat balls stuffed with a few bits of kibble before I go. They don't fight over food.

Being wet doesn't make you (or dogs) sick - viruses do. He'll be fine.
