Ok, question The SRA&OC (i think thats the right abbreviation) who are holding the classes They say that its $40 for single membership and $50 for family membership, does this mean two people and two dogs can come under a family membership for $50??? My sister is thinking of bringing her OH (they live together) and their other dog along too. When it says small fee weekly for lights etc, how much is this small fee?

Is any agility/obedience people going to be down there tonight?? I will be there with Hemi.... doubt there will be many Westies, so if you see someone looking a bit lost feel free to say Hi! Im bringing my sister down with her border collie x too. My families houses are safe - thank god, my heart goes out to those 41 people who were notified they dont have a home to go back to this morring :p and those that are still impacted upon... Its such a tragedy... Have to thank our fireys and emergency crews who have been fighting these fires over the past 48 hours, they must be exhausted.. They are doing a super job!

In response to the OP, I think do let them know that this happens, and just enforce the fun side of things, how nice their wins are, and just keep encouraging them.

What sort of cheating are you referring to JB? How many instances of cheating have you personally seen or experienced at a dog show? i have seen dogs that were dyed which is not allowed and dogs which were powdered again not allowed and i have friends who show and i read this forum so whether i see it personally or not it happens. good grief there was even a thread about neutered bitches being shown in non-neutered classes. this cheating either happens or there are a lot of liars around eta the people at the shows were really nice BUT the young people i took would not partake because of the cheating Please be careful with your statements, some breeds like mine (Westies) are dry cleaned using powder, you are not suppose to wash them too often, there for we 'dry' clean them using powder. so therefore we are not cheating, it is our method of cleaning our dogs. However I make sure this is done at home, and generally 90-95% out of the coat before arriving at the show... and when I am taking out the rest make sure it is out of the way of other exhibitors.

New Qantas Travel Requirements/crates
RoxyNHemi replied to Dogsfevr's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi, Im flying a large breed to Melbourne in March via Qantas. was told that I would have to use a wire crate, are they pulling my leg, or would I be able to use a large - xlarge vari kennel....Have tried calling AAE in perth, who I did the booking through, but they arent answering their phone. -
Im so sorry Sahla I lost my boy much the same way, but didnt get an autopsy done. I really didnt think I could get another Westie as he was everything to me, and I didnt want to feel like I was replacing him, or the new dog wouldnt be anythign like Cruise. The kind generosity of a friend I had only met 6 months earlier, offered me a pup from his litter. I originally declined the offer, and then after realising how much of a whole our family unit had, I took him up on it... Was a good decision and 2.5 months later we brought our boy home, and he has helped us tremendously, and helped mend that hole in our hearts - not completely but there isnt so much of a gap there. I still think of Cruise reguarly, but Hemi brightens up my life so much! and Roxy our other dog has a companion again
-
isnt x breeding against the Code of Ethics? Surely the canine council can do something... is this reguarly happening, or was it perhaps an oops litter? like they have 2 breeds and one accidently got to the other?

Relationship Between Dog Size, Yard Size And Exercise?
RoxyNHemi replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have one small, one medium with a decent size back yard. they have the occasional hoon, but are more than happy to spend time inside in our company or on their beds on the verandah. It is a hard call, as when I was living at home with mum + the danes, they had a large yard to run in, however they spent most of their time curled up sleeping in their 'holes' they dug, or would prefer 'their' loungeroom couch. our girl you sometimes had to drag her out the door to go to the toilet! -
Congratulations on your new puppy First of all try not to wash too often, as that strips the coat of the natural oils. Secondly I find that the difference of a stripped and clipped westie is different... My stripped westie rarely had an odour, as the coat was harsh and repelled the dirt, where a soft clipped coat allows the dirt to be absorbed more. What are you feeding puppy, as the diet can contribute.

I sent in a nomination, it was a few days late, but hoping it would be still accepted, but never got any confirmation or information if I was too late or not.

Well I know I will be in Southern River for about a year... and hopefully within a 20 minute drive after that... Hoping to sell up and buy and build a house sometime this year. Means moving back in with the inlaws while building but they are great

Which club? SR? Or Midland? Or other :D When is Hemi doing agility, that's what I want to know Terriers REPRESENT! ;) Im going to start at SR... It will be the local for me sometime this year, and it is convienient for my sister too (shes going to bring her BCx ) Once we have the obedience down pat I will move up to Agility ;) Definately Terriers Represent... I want to get a few titles for him in other disciplines, he may be a failed show dog, but im going to try to do something purposeful with him... Make his breeder proud ;)

hehe.. just checking out when obedience enrollment starts up so I can enrol the Hemi dog and me.... Will be interesting, considering he gets confused between a sit and a drop... I guess he still listens to me at the end of the day!

Can we have that in written form and signed i so agree lol. we could use it ;) i'd love to believe it but every time they say it we get very little lol I am not sure how accurate his info is, but will be watching the news.... My sister will be disappointed if thats the case, as she is having a pool party for her 21st on the 29th Jan... Just spoke to my Hemis breeder in Qld, he isnt directly in the core of the floods, but one exit of his road is under water and his property is flooded, luckily it all bypasses his house. Apparently the rains arent going to stop anytime before March... Its supposed to be the Sunshine State - as well as Summer.... I am truly shaken for everyone over there in this horrible horrible circumstance. I cant imagine what it would be like. ;)
-
Just thought I would give you guys a heads up - was informed by a customer today, that apparently WA is going to expect some (the impression he gave - LARGE amounts) of rainfall from the 20th Jan until late in the 1st week of feb or into the 2nd week of feb... it would have come from Qld, apparently it will be announced on the news tonight.

When Buying From A Registered Breeder Poll 1
RoxyNHemi replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
first question I answered No, some people arent too good with technology and sometimes so much misrepresting info can be posted on websites... I like to talk to the people and find out the info directly from the horses mouth. Second Question I put N/A as there arent always breed clubs available in certain states. Also there can be so much conflict in breed clubs sometimes, its not worth being a member of i would probably wait 1-2 years for a show prospect, I think it would be less if I was in the market for a pet though. -
I dont mind watching a bit of obedience or agility but I dont enjoy watching dog shows - think its different if your dog is involved but I would take great offense if someone did not like my dogs physique I think it depends on the company you're in, too. I had a great night NYE with Ptolomy and RallyValley, and catching up with mirawee and ozjen. If I had to sit by myself and then get told my dog is crap well I wouldn't like that either But if you're with others (and your dog is still crap) well you've had a great night! ;) Nay, we still don't like people thinking our dogs are crap. But yes good company can lessen the blow. Yep agree with this.... I had a great time on NYE - and hubby who HATES the dog shows with a passion tagged along with me (and was my designated driver ) actually mentioned he may have enjoyed it too...and I managed to have a few or maybe quite a few drinks.... reminded myself why i dont drink a bit when Im showing... the Vodka doesnt like me running while its in my belly I was running around for best in show and it almost felt like it was curdling in my stomach... Mind you, I wasnt really really drunk, was still very co-ordinated and felt fine the next day - bounced outta bed

My half sisters mum runs the boarding kennels in Bridgetown and my half sister is with her at the moment.... I could ask them if they are able to as a last resort?
