How it works
-
Totally agree I had a very similar problem with my neighbours kids when they first moved in. My bully, Lucky, would be outside minding his own business and the kids would start banging on the fence, running along dragging sticks along the fence, throwing stuff over aswell As their mother was home I assumed she was not worried about what they were doing, but Lucky was getting really worked up. I let it get to the point where I was fuming that she hadn't told them to cut it out, and stormed over, banged on their front door and yelled at her She told me she hadn't realized what they were doing or how stirred up Lucky was getting and sincerely apologized. The kids never did any of it again

Hi Rosie I have a similar problem, but Electra is so submissive when she goes, she barley moves I've taken short videos of her at home, and uploaded them, so Deb can see exactly what I'm trying to explain to her ;)

I tried Joint Guard with my old bully, but after advise from a bull mastiff breeder, actually bought a joint supplement from the chemist, same ingredients and heaps cheaper! I used Natures Way Joint Supplement(the exact one I used is no longer on the shelf) and actually found it helped his mild arthritis alot more than the Joint Guard did Maybe one like this Joint Defend Glucosamine + MSM or NATURES OWN JOINT CARE GLUCOSAMINE CHONDROITIN & MSM Powder which I think is the closest to the one I used ;)

I went to Clark Rubber and had foam cut to fit large crates(120x70cm, 12cm thick) for, I think, $65. I also bought single bed matress protectors for, I think, $24. Covers I got from Great Rugs under Comfort Beds. I got the XL (C.C.P) Comfy Cushion Bed covers(150x95cm) for $30 So $120 all up. In winter they have a polar fleece blanket, on top, which were only $7 :D I also have the XL(C.C.P) Comfy Cushion Beds, which are only $69, but wanted a bit more support for night time.

As I'd never owned a female dog before discussing Electra's vulva didn't come easy I think that the skin fold is where the problems occur, at least that was Electra's problem. Here is another pic taken 8 months before her surgery I've taken these ones just now, so you can see the difference ETA as aussielover says, it's hard to say if a season will help. Hopefully others have had similar experiences. Maybe pm Cazstaff, she had a pup with a similar problem and was going to let her have a season to try and avoid surgery....here's her thread

There is a pic of Electra before her surgery, she was about 15 months when it was taken.

Hey quangle Electra also had an extremely small vulva which ended up causing problems for her I had her spayed before her first season and honestly really regret not giving her the chance to develop fully. She ended up having a vulvoplasty done at 20months and though now she has no problems, it was a very invasive procedure. If you don't feel comfortable/prepared with your pup having a season, maybe you could put her into kennels for the duration or even see if her breeder could look after her for you? Hopefully someone will be able to give you more details about having a pup in season, unfortunately I've never experienced it.

Lola Had The Intradermal Skin Test...
raffikki replied to Lindainfa's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Good on you for getting a second opinion and I can totally relate to the sense of relief you get when you have a plan!! Both my guys have had the Intradermal skin test and both had reactions to Malassezia, though only 2's & 3's. Rhino's resultsElectra's results I wasn't aware that Malassezia was a yeast their own bodies produce. Both of mine are on desensitization injections and have improved to the point that neither require much treatment at all, just the occasional cream/spray to their feet. ETA I'm not really sure about washing straight after the testing, though a warm wet face wash might get the marks off? -
Thanks Steve ;) All done :D

If it's still possible to be added to the list, I would love one too :D

Yep, I can vouch for her :D Positive trainer/behaviorist and has been helping me with my two :D OSoSwift I will pm you her details ;)

I felt the same with Electra, so ended up tying some chews to the side of her crate so she could get to them with the cone on. Once the stitches come out it gets heaps easier ;) I also had her in the lounge room, with the tv on, she loved the cartoons and kids shows! I hope he's still improving, the next few weeks will seem like they last an eternity, but when it's all over you will both forget it pretty quickly

I'm glad to hear his first day at home was uneventful Hopefully today was the same!! I'd be a bit concerned if the bandage got wet, just think what it'd be like on a person..the skin could/would get all wrinkly and damp. If left too long I do think it could cause a problem. I realise you dried it BUT if it did soak through to the inner gauze/padding you may not be able to tell it's still moist? Maybe just give the vet a ring to check what they advise? ;) Since he's going to be confined for a bit longer could you raise his water? Hang it from the side of his crate? Is the bandage making it difficult for him to walk/pee etc? Would love more pics if you have any :D
