  1. That's very disappointing Trishm I guess I'll give them a day or 2 to get back to me, I might have to look at the snooza ones too. Like you, I certainly don't want to wait weeks & weeks if I order something!
  2. Thanks for the replies I am ebay illiterate and couldn't find them on there, but have just had another look at the site you posted(which was the one I had bookmarked a while ago) and I'm 99% sure the ph number has changed(was a land line before), so sent a txt and am hoping they will get back to me via email with the correct site and info I'm after.
  3. I am wanting to buy new beds for my guys, but have a few questions to ask the suppliers(about the filling & any treatments made) I've found 2 different sites and am unsure which to even order through? I've tried to email them from the contact pages but both emails get returned ;) Can anyone tell me if they are still making beds & if so are both sites dinkum? cloudk9dogbeds cloudk9
  4. Hi rexiam I can't begin to imagine your worry with Bear, I would be beside myself too Just in case you need some info of containment systems here's a website I found a while back(for just in case) Sureguard
  5. A tiny bit of Vics Vapour rub, works well for my two terrors! It's the only thing that has worked to stop them chewing things, especially their beds.
  6. I've taught my boy to open his mouth wide for tablets, so I can just pop it to the back of his throat. I just gently place the palm of my hand on his nose and use 3 fingers to touch his top lip, he then drops his lower jaw, leaning his head back. I taught it the same as you would any other trick, I suppose, heaps of praise and treats afterward. We began with no tablets of course.
  7. One way to get rid of the ants without using sprays etc, is to sprinkle some corn flour around where they are(preferably where your dogs can't get to it) they then carry this back to their nest and the whole nest will eat it, can't digest it & therefor end up dieing
  8. Hi Masons mom I have just started taking Electra to a wonderful lady in Shelley(though a fair way from you) who is a chiropractor and acupuncturist. She was recommended to me by Ptolomy and she has done amazing things for Electra after just 2 visits I'm not sure if I'm meant to post details, but can PM them to you if you'd like?
  9. Just checked the bill for my 2 getting their 12 weeks shot & micro chipping. (6 months ago) C5 Nobivac - $115(each) Micro chip - $ 55(each) I chose this particular vet because 1. they're very close to me & 2. the are open 7 days a week 9am - 7pm, no appointments necessary.
  10. Thanks everyone for replying I took Electra to the lady in Shelley, that Ptolomy recommended, yesterday afternoon and am most impressed with her She looked at our xrays and told me that everything looks good there, but saw what I see with her gate and explained why the muscles are the way they are because of her previous injuries. She used acupuncture and the results were amazing! Almost immediately I could see the difference in Electra's gate. We are going back in 10 days for a follow up. Thanks so much for the recommendation Ptolomy. I will keep in mind showdog's bowen therapist for any future problem that may pop up with either Electra or Rhino, so thanks to those who have recommended her
  11. Thanks again Staff'n'Toller and huge thank you to Ptolomy
  12. Thanks Staff'n'Toller I think I'm leaning towards Bowen Therapy, with a Chiro coming a close second, but like I said I really have no idea about this kind of thing for dogs OR where to find a good therapist. Can anyone in Perth recommend someone? Google hasn't helped much
  13. Thanks for the replies so far hilaryo, Thanks for the heads up about veterinary chiropractor's. There is only 2 in WA, one being in Geraldton which is obviously out of the question, but I have bookmarked the one in the metro area. I will wait a little bit to see what other people have to say, but having used a chiropractor myself I do know how good the results can be Aidan, I totally agree with you, having really no idea about the canine side of these methods I'm not sure which way to go, I'm hoping to learn from the replies to this thread showdog, I have read about the Bowen therapy and it does sound very good, would it be possible for you to pm me your therapists details? I'm sure Electra seeing someone is not urgent, as I said she shows no lameness or obvious discomfort. Do you think waiting would be OK?
  14. My 9 month old Amstaff pup has had a bit of a hard start to her life :D When she was about 10 weeks old she jumped from my arms as I was putting her down and landed fairly hard on her front feet. She cried out in pain and struggled to stand up at first, then after about 30 seconds stood and walked, but very tentatively. After a minute or 2 she was walking quite well, but I rushed her to the vet to make sure every thing was OK. The vet did a thorough examination of all her joints and back and said she was fine. At just over 4 months of age she had what the vet called an "avulsion tibial crest" , her right rear leg. She was crated for 4 weeks with no exercise and then had 2 weeks of 5-6 short walks a day. So now I am wondering if it would be beneficial to her to get checked over, she has had xrays at 4 months & 7 months(when she was spayed) and the vet said that everything looks good apart from one of her hips, which he said showed a possibility of h/d. She shows no sign of lameness, but to me she looks like she walks slightly hunched in the shoulders and has a slight wobble in her rear. For a few months she was sometimes turning to look at her rear end, like it was bothering her(hence why I got more xrays done at 7 months) and she also very rarely sits properly(always sits with her right leg/hip under). She is also slow to get up from laying/sitting. So, if anyone has opinions on Chiropractic, Bowen or Acupuncture Therapy I'd love to hear from you. Your experiences and reasons for choosing and which you think my girl may benefit from. Also recommendations of practitioners, in and around Perth. ETA I just realized I posted this in the wrong section, was meant to be in "Health/Nutrition/Grooming"
  15. Hi Blue Ice I'm definitely no expert BUT when my pups were that age they too were trying to use their mouths on me heaps. I think it is normal puppy behaviour and it's up to use to teach them that it's not something we want them to do. What I found worked really good was to always have chew toys around and as soon as they started the biting I'd give a low grumbling "ahhhh" and literally put a toy in their mouth, then tell them how good they were when they chewed that. Don't give up on Tuk yet, he's just a baby
  16. She will be able to walk, at least my girl was I was told no running & jumping and to keep her very quiet for the fist couple of days. I crated at night(which was normal anyway) if Willow stays calm in the laundry normally, I don't see why you can't leave your/her routine as it is. If there is a chance she will try to jump up, or just put her front paws up, on things, I'd personally crate her. By the 3rd day I was Taking Electra for short walks up the street, only 5 minute ones, but about 5 times a day. The rest of the time she was with me inside, and I made sure she was staying quiet. If I had to go out, I crated her, by day 3 she was totally back to thinking she could run around and play, jump etc ETA: For the fist night I gave Electra half her normal meal(same as you kibble & raw)
  17. Thanks for all the responses so far ;) I hadn't even thought of buying online, so I guess my options are much wider than I thought. Rhino's skin hasn't been a problem so far, though he has a mild bacterial infection in his ears and the vet has advised me that sensitive skin/allergies may become a problem. He has had hives a few times, but they only appear in the evenings after a play outside, so I'm thinking they're from bugs/midgies(that come out at night) The more I look at all the choices the more confusing it gets but so far it seems PRO Plan, Royal Canin and Eagle Pack are better? I will also add that Artimis is now an option
  18. My 2, almost 8 month old, AmSatffs are currently getting Advance, Puppy Plus, Growth Large Breed but I am considering changing. Although I think both are doing well on the Advance, I'm hoping to get a kibble with NO preservatives and colours. (Advance has a "preservative") In my area I can get: Iams® ProActive Health™ Smart Puppy Large Breed Hill's® Science Diet® Puppy Large Breed Eukanuba® Puppy Large Breed Formula Royal Canin Maxi Junior PRO PLAN Puppy Large Breed Chicken & Rice Eagle Pack Holistic Large/Giant Breed Puppy Formula SUPERCOAT Puppy PetFare Crunchie Bites(chicken & corn) ETA: Artemis Fresh Mix Medium / Large Breed Puppy Rhino may also possibly have sensitive skin, and I have been advised by a friend/trainer to avoid anything that says "whole grain cereals" So looking at the ingredients that cuts out Super Coat(which I wasn't really considering) The other products mention things like Ground Whole Grain Corn, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, whole grain corn, whole grain wheat & Whole grain brown rice, should I be avoiding these too What exactly are "fillers"? I have read numerous posts saying to avoid kibble with these. How can I tell which ones have, or don't have, preservatives and colours? Which do you think is the best? All input will be greatly appreciated
  19. I tried Joint Guard with my old bully, but after advise from a bull mastiff breeder, actually bought a joint supplement from the chemist, same ingredients and heaps cheaper! I used Natures Way Joint Supplement and actually found it helped his mild arthritis alot more than the Joint Guard did Might be worth a try?
  20. Thanks for suggesting the ceramic bowl Erny :D I hadn't even thought of one of those! I don't really like the plastic bowl for the same reason you say, they get scratched up and and can harbour bacteria. He has now started barking at the plastic one anyway so I'm going out today to get a ceramic one I assume that places like city farmers and better pets & gardens sell the right kind?
  21. Aww Ruthless I hope all goes well this morning at the vet for Ivan.
  22. So I have bowl marking to look forward too???? The plastic bowl has stopped him barking for the last couple of days, maybe it was his reflection he was interested in?
  23. My 2 quite often play with pebbles & nuts off the palm trees and I have found those and all sorts of other things in their pooh :p So long as your pup in going to the toilet normally, eating normally and acting normally I wouldn't worry too much
  24. Hmmm, how long for? If it's only while the food is there, separate them. If it's for some amount of time afterwards, that's a whole 'nuther problem. Either way it rings a few alarm bells. It's only really for 5 or so minutes after he's finished eating, and I'm feeding him in different places each time(was advised to do this) I thought that if I scatter his raw/smelly food he may continue to be possessive of that area? It's only with my other pup he is possessive, I can do what I want with him and his food, he's great in that department Oh and thanks Ruth ;)
  25. Thanks for the ideas ;) I'll try a plastic bowl tonight and see if it makes a difference. I do scatter some of the dry food around, unfortunately anything of higher value he becomes possessive of the area I'll check that link now, thanks I do like the idea of him bringing the bowl back to me , I might look into teaching them both that!
