So glad you had a wonderful first time dog show experience ;) The scene is very uninviting? YOU wouldn't approach (that's a choice YOU have made)! Dog shows are there for exhibitors to exhibit their dogs (you get that part as stated above in your post), I have no problem with the public coming to shows and I have no problem taking the time to talk to people enquiring about the breed provided they realise that time is often limited. I'm not going to want to sit down and have a decent chat to someone when I'm in the middle of a conversation with other exhibitors or when I'm busy preparing dogs. If people are going to visit the dog shows, please approach a breeder of the breed you're interested in and simply ask them when a good time would be for you to return to talk to them meet their dogs etc. Spotty - you're making dog shows out to be something they are not, basically rubbishing them and inturn those people who exhibit...you'll win no friends here Aziah. Seriously. Maybe you have been involved in the show scene for 500 years (gee maybe your parents showed too?), but most people in the general public have not. All I said was I think it would be a good idea to have pamphlets available so if breeders are busy, they have a stall which has pamphlets. It is daunting for newbies. You probably wouldn't know or have forgotten because you have been doing it forever My experiences have not been the same as yours. So don't you dare tell me that I rubbish breeders and showing because I bloody well do not. But don't think for a second that there aren't simple improvements that can be made to showing which will steer the public towards registered breeders and not against. This is the exact reason why I no longer strongly recommend to my friends or family to get a dog or puppy from a registered breeder. Many times they get no response to their well constructed email, or they call and the breeder is rude. I don't even know why people suggest going and chatting to breeders/exhibitors at shows because that rarely has a positive outcome either ;) That is not one inviting scene for general members of the public.... Some breeders really need to improve the way they deal with people. How sad why bother being a member here then? The dog show scene can be/is inviting and welcoming to the general public providing they remember that exhibitors are there to show their dogs and a lot of prep etc is involved so often there are only short periods of time where an exhibitor has the time to just sit around and chat!

Thanks Aziah, I was thinking that too, so I checked all her nipples & she is producing thick creamy milk at the moment which I say would be the colostrum. The pups are a lot more settled today, half of them are sleeping at the moment, & the other half feeding. I will weigh them again this afternoon & see how they are all going. But just by looking at them they all seem to look bigger from yesterday. But I am making sure the 2 smallest ones get on the nipple a little more just so they don't get left behind. Brandy ate some breakfast this morning, & has slept a little, she is still doing an amazing job, I just hope the larger litter doesn't take it out of her. Do you think I should start weaning them at 3 weeks, or should I wait for Brandy to let me know when she has had enough? I have a heap of Biolac on hand, aswell as some bottles & feeding syringes if I need them. Brandy has also had some Diahorrea last night & this morning, that looks like black tar, would this be because she ate alot of the placentas? Will this pass soon? & is there anything I can give her to settle her tummy? Thanks everyone :p Nicole Sounds like everything is going well ;) Just ensure she's getting a few good meals a day and keep an eye on how she's coping, milk supply and her condition. Don't worry about the weaning stage just yet... I'd imagine that the diahorrea is a result of her eating several placentas, it should settle down soon, I wouldn't give her anything at this stage. My girls get 2 large bowls of yoghurt (slightly watered down) twice a day along with their 3 meals...

I agree with you (and not something I'd ever do either) but it seems that this isn't the issue rather something to do with a breach of contract...

I don't get what the issue is then, is it that the bitch was transported to Perth and back again? No doubt she was well cared for...if you agree to having a bitch on breeders terms then really it's the breeders business as it's their litter. I don't get the problem so I really can't offer any advice or an opinion unless someone can clarify?

Wow, 8 babies, what an effort and what a fantastic free whelping! Congratulations Are your babies still noisy/unsettled? If they are it could be because Brandy's milk hasn't come in yet, if this is the case you might need to top the babies up (all the while allowing them to continue to feed from her) until it does come in.

I'd just remove everything they pulled out, put the sheet back on and fluff it up nicely it never really happened!

Have used VetBed always and love it, haven't experiences any of the problems Ellz has... The clubs can purchase RCC certificates but I've never seen one, most clubs have RCC ribbons if you go and ask at the office. Congratulations on your win

Wow sorry to hear about your girl, probably an isolated incident and she reacted badly as an individual... glad she is ok Have a friend in a heavy tick area who has bathed baby puppies as young as 4 weeks in the solution to protect them and she's never had a problem, I've also used it on dogs of all ages without an issue. ETA: however I recently treated one of my adult girls with a spot-on and she reacted badly, almost 'burnt' right along the line the liquid travelled so you never can tell.

Fido's Fre-Itch Rinse Concentrate would be my recommendation.
