My opinion? Breakfast how you give it is fine, most nights they get their dinner in a bowl if they've been out training they don't get it because you've already fed them enough. Sounds fine...it's the training AT meal time where the meal is served then people stuff about with it that I don't agree with. Every dog should eat theirof their main meal in peace without having to be trained or do tricks for it.

We use mealtimes for training so he'll get some of the portions in a bowl (that he waits for) and the rest as rewards for various commands/tricks. We also use a tucker ball and muffin tins and other fun ways to get food to try to make it all more interesting. Neither dog gets fed kibble for doing nothing. It's what we did with Elbie and worked well at keeping him occupied and entertained so we're doing the same with Hoover. Brekky there's often less time so it's usually food down, wait, eat but dinner we like to use for training, especially as I work during the day so I usually only have 'dog time' before I leave for work, mealtimes and on the weekends. As to raw ... well, he'll still get bones and lamb flaps, but his diet will be mostly kibble. Elbie seems fine with it so Hoover will have to adjust, I fear. We're picking up some Royal Canin and Advance to see which he likes better. The breeder was ok with him switching to kibble as long as he still got bones. ETA: Out of interest, what problems does hand-feeding cause? The part I've bolded is just not on as far I'm concerned...do the training at another time and let the poor pup eat in peace! Why on earth are you using his meal time to train?! Just because you don't have time during the day does not mean you should use his meal time as a training tool. Dogs should be left to eat their meal in peace. Hand feeding can create fussy dogs who will not eat out a bowl etc. Put the food down, if he doesn't eat it within a reasonable time frame remove it and offer it at the next meal time.

Oh that's wonderful news Kaffy!

I'd much rather it be freezing cold or pissing down rain - showing in the heat down there just isn't on my agenda!
-
Think that would be August... Even better!

So you don't care if it's cabin/van/motel but you must be able to take the dogs inside the accommodation?... You could try Orange Colour City Caravan Park? I have no idea if they take dogs inside but they are listed on the schedule for O&DK&B Club.

September or October?...either would be far more suitable

I didn't mean you were worrying over nothing just commenting on your pics I hope once he's of weaning-age that he comes along in leaps and bounds.

Elenbah - even your smallest baby appears well fed with a shiny coat (I know he's been of concern to you but he does appear healthy)
-
Crate him to keep him quiet, that's very easy?!

I echo RSG's post (minus the returning to the breeder part, I WAS the breeder! I found her a really wonderful pet home)...for whatever reason we just didn't 'gel'. On the other hand Ive recently experienced the same thing BUT this time with a little effort we did manage to bond and I'm very pleased ETA: You get on and feel for some people and others you don't - same same for dogs you might own IMO

When it's held at a more suitable time of year (ie. not when it's often 35+ degrees) then I will attend again... Good luck to everyone showing and please stay cool.

You should have asked me! He went back to his breeder, who desexed him and pet homed him. Well I'd sort of forgotten about it til now but a while back I though about him but then got side tracked Can't wait for when you get the newbaby, monkey pics galore

Can you tell if they have had any litters? I was told that Honey may have had a litter- I assumed it was because her teats were droopy. No? Every bitch is so different, some bitches can raise a litter and their under-carriage will shrink back to what it was pre-puppies, other bitches never get their figure back! My old girl at home (well, she's not old - she's 7 but she's my old girl) only ever had the one litter of puppies (one litter is the norm for my girls) she is now spayed but you would never know she'd raised a litter of 8...on the other hand the other old girl (also 7) never got her figure back and it's evident she raised a litter.
-
No, no way of telling how many litters she may have had... I'm glad you've adopted her and I'm sure she'll enjoy the rest of her years with you
-
OK so...? I gather you want something in wiriting to cover your bases?
-
I know in NSW you have to seek permission in writing from the Board (I think that's right)... ETA: just ring the VCA

Just reply that you don't have anything available so therefore no photos but the average price is $[inster amount]

You can use things such as stuffed Kongs, raw meaty bones to keep him occupied in his crate however it won't do him any harm to learn to be settled in the crate and while he's unwell is a reasonable time. Toilet on the lead and back into the crate with whatever toy you decide to give him.

Raz you're so evil
