  1. Thanks Bel - maybe they'll come tomorrow then!
  2. Has anyone got numbers back for County of Cumberland yet?
  3. I agree with Nekhbet's suggestion
  4. you have a big heart RSG, bigger than I. A dog "with a lot of fear and trauma issues, not to mention being diagnosed with pancreatitis and now being treated for stump pyometra" I could never afford it even if I had the emotional capacity. It doesn't worry me, the last one I fell for cost me a lot of money and she was worth every cent. Same here RSG. I stopped adding up Banshee's bills when they went over $1,000. As you say, worth every cent We have also spent thousands on our rescues as a group and they too were worth it, but I could not personally take on an unknown quantity with a young family. That is all I am saying. No one is asking you to?!
  5. Again I agree with Ellz - a dog who is injured or in pain (and enough pain for it to bite someone touching it) should never be in the ring! ETA: we are talking about a dog in the showring - not a dog at home or injured on the road or anywhere else. Bottom line is owner should never have taken dog to show.
  6. Nothing more to add, this says it all. ETA: ( I know it contradicts my post above!) it's not like the judge handled the dog poorly.
  7. I agree, suggest that she get an autopsy done... It could be anything but it has been suggested that often, puppies like that (slow at the get go and never really thrive) can have a heart issue, does your breed have heart defects as problem?
  8. Aussielover yes talking about the CURRENT Am Staff puppy... No idea what breed the previous pup was but here's the post about it... The OP doesn't want to give up the dog but still obviously has unrealistic expectations.
  9. This is the same puppy that Staffygirl88 started the 'Puppy Frustrations' thread about BUT it turns out she returned a puppy prior to this due to the puppy being 'high energy'... ...continues to preach that there is 'no perfect time to bring a puppy into your home' and we all know that's a load of hogwash!
  10. She's 6 now I see? It seems you have managed her seasons very well but my recommendation would be that you give serious thought now to having her desexed. She's getting older, the risk of pyometra increases with each season... Considering many feel that a male puppy would be the better gender to add to your pack then there's another reason to have her spayed... ETA: I think it's really great that you're seeking advice regarding age/sex to help ensure it all goes smoothly.
  11. OT but I'll answer anyway - your nephew/neices don't live with you and don't depend on you personally for a stable upbringing of both mind and body. ETA: not bonding with a particular dog doesn't make you a bad person but you are a bad person if you never make that bond and keep the dog anyway. If there's no love then a suitable home should be found, it is, afterall, all about the well-being of the dog. sorry for going OT and yeah I agree..... OP just give it some more time No I didn't mean it was bad OT I was just pointing it out incase people wondered what the hell I was going on about

  13. JSK - I agree, Swanee's owner knew he was ill prior to leaving for the shows, he should have stayed at home! I saw a dog just the other weekend in the ring with terrible diarrhoea and straining for a long period after...the handler should have taken the dog from the ring but no...it was shown AND that judge then handled other dogs right through the classes. People will NEVER stop, they just cannot help themselves
  14. I agree with Ellz... My suggestion would be to take a deep breath settle on a balanced diet, offer ONE meal per day, put it down for 15 minutes, if not eaten remove it and offer it again at the next day. She will not starve herself, don't get worked up about it because she'll play on that too.
  15. Ohhhh it was you who started the puppy frustation thread not so long ago that got locked - expecting too much from the puppy etc and then you got pissed off when several of us suggested returning the puppy to its breeder! Now you're complaining AGAIN about bonding... I think the puppy should be returned to the breeder for its own well-being
  16. OMG Staffygirl88 grow up! You've been given advice, someone asked if now might not be the right time for a pupy, now we find out you had a puppy and rehomed it because it wasn't suitable and now this thread... I can see the outcome of this being the same as your pevious puppy, there IS a right time to get a puppy, you are wrong to make the statement that there is not. You've been offered advice, don't carry on like a school girl when someone posts something that you don't like. It is afterall a PUBLIC forum and everyone has their opinion whether you like it or not.
  17. It didn't get lost at all, people gave their opinions on what dry food they recommended... For the last time it IS a PUBLIC forum people are VERY entitled to giving their opinion I agree with RSG - the RC Medium Junior is very good.
  18. She's obviously found the copy online of the Lab bitch I postd above and has just removed owner details and changed the breed and added male and female... Crazy people!
  19. I can tell you that the 'puppy' is REMI'S NORTHERN BREEZE who is a Labrador Retriever bitch whelped 10th November 2001 in Canada. GMH REMI'S NORTHERN BREEZE WCX LW761086, Labrador Retriever, Female, 11/10/2001 SIRE: Southwoods Day Raider DAM: Remington’s Pea Eyed Magnum BREEDER: Sharon Blackburn OWNER: Jim Nichols HANDLER: JIM NICHOLS
  20. I guess if the kibble is large and not tiny little bits then it wouldn't last long at all
  21. Oh and he's been raised on raw, pretty simple to keep it that way so don't know why you'd bother changing to a mostly dry food diet.
  22. no need to I apologise, I hadn't read that you feed an uninterrupted meal in the morning.
  23. I can't see that anyone should use so many training treats that their dog doesn't get a solid meal at night (or in the moring - or whenever you feed the main meal). and at that main meal time I do not believe one should be training or trick teaching! Each to their own I just believe that the dog should get their meal and be able to eat that meal in peace. I am just curious as to why? What would be the benefit in feeding that way? Just curious! It's something I've never really thought about before The dog gets to eat his meal in peace, can enjoy it, shouldn't have to work for it, other training times are when you receive a reawrd for your work.
