  1. God - how do you do daily. I can hardly remember to brush my teeth every day - let alone HW the dog. The heartworm tablets are next to the food bowls so there's never any real way to forget :)
  2. Daily heartworm tablets and purchase 1000 tablets for around $65 (3-9kg 1/2 tab, 10-18kg 1/2 tab and 19-36kg 1 tab) 3 monthly worming usually with Popantel, Drontal or Canex We don't have a flea or tick problem here however if travelling into a tick area we use collars and/or dip in the Fido's Fre Itch Concentrate which is brilliant for fleas AND ticks (and if were better named I feel sure it would be more widely used)!
  3. Just as we are shocked by your own venom towards your breeder and 'her' terms... You're own feelings are just a reminder to many breeders why it's often not worth the hassel to place a quality puppy on breeders terms. So much blood, sweat and tears and the potential for a future generation to be lost or as is in this case, too much "drama" from an owner who agreed to terms that it's often easier to walk away and not ask for what they had agreed to.
  4. Well said Steve. Added, almost every negative point that Panlu makes regarding her agreed breeders terms is related to money. Breeders terms are not for everyone, granted. But I find it distasteful and unfair to the breeder that a person happily takes up the offer and then bad mouths them later down the track. Panlu has no idea of the costs and work involved in raising a litter of puppies and clearly thinks the breeders is making a killing off her. Agreed and I am certain when the breeder reads this thread which is sure to have been sent by several members, there will be some interesting discussions going forward! The dog world is a small world and nothing is sacred.
  5. I don't understand why you would be expected to pay full price if she is on breeders terms. Be thankful it is only one litter and I hope it all goes smoothly for her. As for the tent offer.. But what sort of full price is it? Is it full price for "companion puppy" - realistically if you were to buy an adult dog of breeding quality it is likely you would pay much more than $3000!
  6. I don't care for the attitude, you clearly have no idea what goes into not only raising a litter but all the things that make it possible to get a litter safely on the ground.
  7. "Show potential" is how is should be for a baby puppy not "show quality" - so many things can go wrong through the course to maturity. Personally I would offer a replacement... What breed? (this will help us get a handle on what might be going wrong that you can't see early on - what were the disqualifying faults)?
  8. I feel sure the upkeep of multiple dogs, running health tests, feeding, general care, time and exhibition runs well above "profit". Most breeders put puppy sales back into their dogs. ETA: let's not forget the thousands of $ that many spend on importing live dogs/frozen semen. It all adds up. What do you think they should be worth?
  9. How much ring experience does she have prior to the 9 month break? It really doesn't matter but I'd probably suggest, at least for this show, entering her in Intermediate to see how she stacks up maturity wise both in body and mind.
  10. Admittedly the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is not my breed, but isn't 25kg rather large for this breed? I think you are overfeeding...... but fortunately for you, your dog is not a guts and knows when to stop! Correct... Desirable height at withers 36-41 cms (14 to 16 ins), these heights being related to the weights. Weight: dogs: 13-17 kgs (28-38 lbs); bitches 11-15.4 kgs.
  11. Perhaps accept half the payment for the vet bill since no one knows what happened.
  12. Glad the cat is ok, that'd good news. Hopefully he'll be safe inside from now on...I've never been able to understand why cats are allowed to roam (whether they stay on property or not - they arern't really confined like dogs are supposed to be). Hope Cookie heals well.
  13. I'm sorry for your cat but if no one saw the dog attack the cat then really you don't know for sure what happened.
  14. I suspect C was referring to sperm when they said there wasn't any.
  15. I'd now try him on a herbal tonic (such as the Sires On Ice Boost Ya Boy - they will post to you) and then I'd take him for a collection at a repro clinic in 8 weeks time.
  16. Might just be coping with result... has only been a few days since OP It was last Wednesday...whilst none of us know the OP we did give advice when asked and you do get somewhat emotionally involved. I do hope the outcome was a good one.
  17. I hate threads with no updates to major issues!
  18. What's the breeder offering advice-wise? I agree, visit a specialist vet.
  19. I never use the suspension syrup just a portion of an appropriate tablet (personally, I like Popantel).
  20. A relief, pleased all is well.
  21. My bitches are back up and running within 24 hours (not literally of course but they are bright and happy again very quickly). You may find it's the awful e-collar that is cuasing her reluctance.
  22. Hoping all is well...we are all waiting to hear.
  23. Do you have an update A? Hope all is well.
  24. I feel sure it's just pain and he's feeling uncomfortable. He will settle.
  25. I had a bitch with a singleton puppy on board. She never went into active labour (just as I expected) but showed some unusual behaviour. Regardless of that, I knew her due date as she'd been progesterone tested at the time of mating. So no, if left, the consequences can be fatal to both dam and pup/pies
