Washa, i agree with what the others have said, the way i have found works with my girl is i have a squeker that is in the shape of a squirial. when we are individualy judged i sometimes squek it but in the line up i just show her the tail and most of the time get the same result. as soon as we get out i then let her have it as a reward.

  12. Thanks EmmaA but with children in the mix we would much rather a dog out of a foster situation or ex show, i know this is no garentee of stability with kids but we have a better chance this way and are able to trial the dog which is an absolute must when children are involved.

  15. To keep the smell ot of the carpet and lounge's i bicarb them once a fortnight / month. i shake it all over the carpet and lounge give it a quick brush over with a broom, take the dogs for a day out so it can sit then when we get home i put the dogs straight in to the back yard and go inside and vacume. Works for me as we only have carpet in the lounge room.

  17. The Princes Highway has now been opened in both directions, following impact from the Deans Gap fire yesterday. Motorists need to be aware that a 60 km per hour speed restriction will be in place along the highway from Wool Road to Bendelong. The first groups of motorists will be given access via escort, then groups of vehicles will be let through progressively. Authorities had hoped to open the road earlier today, however the opening was delayed by a new spot fire to the north of Sussex Inlet Road and to allow the RFS and RTA to ensure the road was clear of dangerous fallen limbs and fire debris. It is possible that the road may close for short periods during the day to allow personnel to conduct emergency responses to fallen trees and other hazards. Sussex Inlet Road will also re-open, however this road may also be closed for periods to allow firefighting operations. Closures along Main Road 92 remain in place. Motorists are advised that although the highway is open fire appliances will still be very active in the area. The 60km speed limit will be strictly enforced, but may be revised later in the day. Crews will be working hard today to create containment lines on the eastern side of the highway while weather conditions remain advantageous. No evacuation orders are in place at the moment but residents are reminded to prepare their properties and make a bush fire survival plan now with hot weather forecast for later in the week. The Deans Gap fire has now burned more than 3,800 hectares with fire fighters working to create containment lines over its 44 km perimeter. Stay safe,

  21. More info on Deans Gap: Emergency Warning - Deans Gap fire (Shoalhaven) 08/01/13 21:32 Posted: 08/01/2013 A bush fire burning approximately 1.5km to the west of Wandandian in the Deans Gap area has burnt through 1,515 hectares. Current Situation An emergency warning is in place for the following areas: WANDANDIAN, BENDALONG ROAD, BENDALONG, NORTH BENDALONG, CUNJURONG POINT, JANUNG LANE, JERRAWANGALA, SUSSEX INLET ROAD, SUSSEX INLET, CUDMIRRAH, SWANHAVEN, MEDLYN AVE, BERRARA. A large bush fire is burning out of control. The fire is burning in Catastrophic fire danger conditions and is currently between two and six hours from properties. The fire is currently over 1500ha in size, and has now crossed the Princes Highway. Based on current weather predictions the southerly change is expected to reach the area soon. The southerly change will cause the fire to head in a northerly direction and impact on Sussex Inlet Road within the next few hours. It is too late for residents on Sussex Inlet Road to leave the area. There are a number of firefighters working from the road and conditions are not safe to travel. Rural Fire Service and Fire Rescue New South Wales firefighters are strategically deployed along the Sussex Inlet Road protecting properties. The southerly change will bring cooler conditions however, the threat to property will remain. The Princes Highway remains closed at Bendalong Road in the north and Wandean Road in the south. It is too late for people to leave the area. Evacuation Centres are open in Sussex Inlet at the Bowling Club and the RSL. The RSL is capable of taking people with pets while the Bowling Club is not. These centres are open for people who have relocated due to the fire. At this stage there are no evacuation orders in place. The following roads are also closed: Braidwood Road, Turpentine Road, Wandean Road and Twelve Mile Road
  22. Have been asked to post this here also: Deans Gap Fire (Shoalhaven) UPDATE: Fire has crossed highway in two locations, the first as reported earlier is at the Jerrwangela rest area. The second area is 400 meters south of Sussex Inlet Road There is fire currently heading into the Conjola state park, we must stress that this is a slow burn. While Nowra and other areas may have only experienced a drop of a few degrees in temperature, southern coastal regions are experiencing drops of more than 12 degrees. RFS is communicating hopes it will have the fire under control later tonight.
