  1. +1 We have had 3 cases in recently and we very rarely see Parvo in our area.
  2. Any chance someone could share the Jap Spitz entries, I would be ever so grateful
  3. Another vote for solid kickboards between the bays
  4. I suspect your only hope of showing this dog would be to desex and re-register as a Neuter.
  5. I'm assuming they are talking about a pre-anaesthetic blood screen? It checks white and red blood cells, platelets, kidney and liver function, electrolytes etc. This test is commonly offered as an 'optional extra' for patients undergoing surgery. $100 is a bit pricey though, all of the clinics I have worked at have charged around $70 to $75.
  6. I agree with those who have suggested Suprelorin for the bitch.
  7. No, because your breed points would already form part of the 18 point BIG win.
  8. To me, excellent temperament = typical temperament, which will vary from breed to breed. A correct/typical temperament in my breed may be incorrect in another.
  9. One weekend recently I got 2 x class in group and 2 x sweepstakes placings... picked up 4 sashes and $40 prize money ($10 each win) and was really happy with that :p
  10. Personally I wouldn't be prepared to spend the time and money required to get a dog to a Neuter Grand Champ/equivalent (if such a thing were introduced), but that's just me
  11. I bought it online so I'll just give him another dose. Thanks. Bummer. You could contact Elanco (the company that makes Comfortis) as it's part of their guarantee. They may send you another one? Not sure, only ever dealt with over-the-counter returns.
  12. Comfortis needs an hour to absorb, if you go back to the place of purchase and let them know your dog vomited within an hour of dosing then they will replace the tablet for you so you can re-dose Not sure about Milbemax off the top of my head, would have to check the leaflet in the box.
  13. A friend and I are doing Friday through to Sunday with our Jap Spitz.
  14. The best prizes are practical ones - dog blankets, towels, vouchers, cash!! I could do without another poor quality knife block, or set of crappy plastic cutlery, or cheap wooden photo frame
  15. Sorry, but I agree - shouldn't have had your dog off-leash.
  16. Not neccessarily - if caught early enough then sometimes they pull through with minimal symptoms.
  17. any NS results to hand Miss B? BIG - Dally (Ch. Paceaway At Rosemount) RUBIG - Toy Poodle (Gr Ch. Tuttlebees Which Witch [imp UK]) Baby in Group - Boston Terrier Minor in Group - Dally Aust Bred in Group - Boston Terrier That's all I can remember off the top of my head :D
  18. Yep group specials are done on the day of the group. I showed yesterday and had no dramas getting a car park right next to the grassy hill
  19. Why would someone continue to show a dog like that? My "first" show dog is a desexed couch potato after a very short career in the ring. She does not meet standard. She placed last in every class she entered. Even if I took her to a show and she was the only exhibit of her breed I seriously doubt any judge would have awarded her the Challenge certificate.
  20. You'll be fine I rarely bath/blowdry on the morning of the show, usually it's a day or two beforehand. On the morning of the show (where possible) I use a grooming spray and a quick blowdry to fluff the coat up. If I am away for a 2 or 3 day show, then all they get is some grooming spray and a vigorous brush and the coat looks good as new. ETA: I have a double-coated breed Spitz breed though, so different coat type obviously
  21. Unfortunately, Japanese Spitz are very popular with backyard breeders and puppy farmers.

    Zara

So sorry to hear RL. Rest in peace Zara
  23. I think the dog still needs to be a nice example of the breed. Neutered or not, they are still being judged against the breed standard. Wouldn't bother me to go up against Champions or Grand Champions, if they are neutered they have just as much right to be in the class as any other dog. My boy gained his Champion title before being neutered, and I plan on showing him in the Neuter class just for the sheer fun of it.
