Yep, Advantix is highly toxic to cats. I warn every single client who purchases it, but you'd be surprised how often we see cats with permethrin toxicity. People don't always pay attention to the packaging.

Has Anyone's Dog Ever Eaten Ratsak?
Miss B replied to ruthless's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
One of my girls nearly died after eating rat bait a couple of years ago. She spent a night in the emergency clinic having blood and plasma transfusions, then spent 6 weeks on Vitamin K. Given that your girl was caught very early and treatment commenced immediately, her prognosis should be pretty good. -
I must be lucky, none of the vets I've ever worked for have promoted designer dogs or backyard breeding, and many of them have themselves been owners of pedigree dogs.

What To Look For When Visiting A Breeder?
Miss B replied to gtjell's topic in General Dog Discussion
This sounds alarm bells for me... the whole litter is on Main Register? -

Virbac Tapewormer or Popantel Tapewormer tablets are more cost-effective than using Drontal (in conjunction with Advocate, I mean)

My dad has done this, I don't see anything wrong with it. He really really loved his old dog and by using the name again he is letting the memory live on. Personally I probably wouldn't do it, but each to their own. How is it creepy? And how does having the same name as a previous dog, deprive a puppy from having it's own identity? A name is not an identity.

Why Would You Not Go To Back To The Breeder.?
Miss B replied to budgiew's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have done this myself recently with an older dog, I did not go back to his breeder for personal reasons. He was desexed prior to rehoming and I vetted his new family very carefully before allowing him to go. -
What Training Treats Do You Use?
Miss B replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Mine will do pretty much anything for cheerios (the little frankfurts, not the cereal ) -
How do you know someone is a good sport? They are polite to judges and stewards, and considerate of other exhibitors. They are gracious in both victory and defeat.

Good sportsmanship is a big one

Go the 4-berth I usually only show one dog and I have a 4-berth trailer. It comes in handy for weekends away - the dog goes in one berth and the camping gear goes in the others. Sometimes I will take along an extra dog to show for my breeder. We also carpool - last weekend three of us travelled up north to show, with 7 dogs between us. We took my trailer so the extra berths come in very handy. I have a trolley rack, no real need for a wardrobe. Anything that doesn't fit in the trailer goes in the back of my ute. My dividers are also removable so I can convert the 4 berths to 2 larger ones.

Agree 100% - had my boy done 18 months ago, he was a nuisance barker and we had tried everything. I stayed and watched the op, over and done with in five minutes. Best $250 I ever spent, he can bark to his little hearts content now and does not bother anybody.
