  1. Congrats on your Ekka results Lots of people have had their BOB photos taken? I entered Ekka but didn't show as my Puppy bitch has just come out of season, so I've had a couple of relaxing days just observing from the grandstands I have been really surprised by the poor entries in some breeds though.
  2. There is a difference between someone breeding on a larger-than-average scale, and someone breeding on a larger-than-average scale specifically to supply the pet market and provide an income for themselves. Personally I don't really care how many litters a breeder is having, it's not about 'how many' - it's about 'how'. Are the dogs all well looked after, with their needs being met. Are the dogs being health tested, and are those with poor results being eliminated from the breeding program. Are they aiming to produce quality puppies, are their dogs contributing to the breed in a positive way.
  3. My breed is around $1,500 - pet or show.
  4. Can anyone recommend a good vet in the Brissie area for grading patellas?
  5. Breeding quality dogs is not a profitable exercise when done correctly, and you'd be hard pressed to find many reputable breeders for whom their puppy sales provide an 'income' to fund their life. Plus as Allerzeit stated, breeding specifically to supply the pet market is actually against the ANKC Code of Ethics.
  6. Thanks heaps BBJ, I saw the pic on your photos page and was wondering who the BOB was Ta!!
  7. Does anyone know where I can find breed results for the Champ show?
  8. Some products you can, others you can't. It depends on whether the active ingredient is evenly distributed or not.
  9. I've got these, they're fantastic. My Sibes like to tip their water over so I hang the buckets on the fence. The ones I bought hold 3.8L each which is plenty for my guys.
  10. I didn't actually deliberately set out to "choose" a breed, in fact we weren't even wanting another dog at the time (already had 2 Sibes). But I stumbled across a photo of a JS online, fell head over heels in love and had to have one. Didn't expect my partner to say yes to a new addition, but he did, and the rest is history.
  11. Stupid owner, should have kept the dog inside - not wandering around her unfenced yard.
  12. I don't think euthanasing the dog is the "easy" solution. I can understand the authorities wanting to be cautious. What if this dog is shedding the virus in it's body fluids (as infected horses do)? Can you imagine how quickly Hendra could spread? The fact that it has been indentified in dogs outside of a laboratory setting is very scary.
  13. I like rosettes and sashes, those comets don't really interest me.
  14. Except when it's been raining... then they come in various shades of brown, too :p
  15. The Deluxe Compact is also 2.4m x 2.4m, but it's got a sturdier frame and a higher-denier canopy When it's packed up, it's also a bit larger than the Compact (but not as big as a Deluxe 3x3).
  16. Is yours a Deluxe Compact, I thought they were a fairly new addition to the Oztrail range? I have seen a few being used at shows and they look great, nice and sturdy.
  17. They are very pretty but sooo expensive compared to the normal prayer mats
  18. The club I won it at must have been a little bit behind the times
  19. Wow that's interesting, I didn't know that. I have a RUBIG fringie that I won last year at a show here in QLD, but it's worded 'RESERVE EXHIBIT IN GROUP'.
  20. Yep another one that's planning for Finland 2014!
