I was suprised when I started my career as a vet nurse, at how quickly it just becomes part of daily life. That's not to say that clients aren't treated with the utmost of empathy, because they are, and I admit I've had a bit of a teary with one or two very special clients. But for the most part you become fairly detached - if you didn't, the overwhelming sadness of it all would weigh you down. That's been my experience, anyway. I once worked with a girl who had to quit because she just couldn't hold it together and every single euthanasia had her bawling.

Clipping A Double Coated Breed
Miss B replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have seen a lot of ticks this year, and we find them in all sorts of places including the tummy, back legs and the tail. Yes, the majority of them are found on the front one-third of the body, but not all. -
There should be a leaflet inside the packet.

I am a new exhibitor and new to my breed as well and this would be very useful! I believe this is how the JS is judged in Japan Kind of on the above topic, I would love to get more actual feedback from judges. One of the main reasons we show is to get a judge's opinion on our dog and how closely it meets the standard. Every now and again you come across a judge who will explain their reasoning for putting certain dogs up, or provide some feedback on your dog, but really it's not that often.

^^ He should have been taken to the vet by this point. Sorry, I know this doesn't help find out what killed him, or bring him back, and I don't mean to be rude. But I hope that your daughter understands that a sick puppy cannot just be left at home all by himself. What seems like a 'small' amount of vomiting and/or diarrhoea can be (as others have said) deadly for a tiny puppy.

I hope your daughter does not get another pup if she's not willing to give it the appropriate care (including taking it to the vet). Poor thing.

If I wasn't happy with the positioning, I wouldn't have sent the plates in for scoring in the first place.

The rosettes are nice, but the felt sashes and ribbons are bloody ugly.

The clinic is required to retain the original radiographs for their own records, however there is no reason why the owner could not be provided with a copy to pass on to the breeder. The clinic I work at provides copies of radiographs to clients upon request. Awful situation

Yep Comfortis should be given with a meal, but it's only necessary to re-dose if the vomiting occurs within one hour of him having the tablet

Last time I came across a stray dog, I stopped my car and dropped the tray of the ute and he came up and jumped right in -
Royal Canin Sensitive Digestion
Miss B replied to whiskedaway's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Royal Canin Sensitivity Control (the 'vet diet' version with blue whiting and tapioca) is about to be discontinued. -
Yep those are my thoughts too. I don't think 'genuine' face judging is as common as the "I-didn't-win-anything-so-I'm-going-to-whinge-about-face-judging" variety. Although I have overheard a judge say "I will always put up XYZ exhibitor if he enters under me, no matter what else is in the group" and needless to say, she went on my DFB list It means the judge was happy with the quality of the breed. It happened up here recently, BIG plus Baby/Minor/Junior/AustBred/Open in Group were all awarded to Jap Spitz. The judge then commented on the outstanding quality of the breed.

I held a dog just this afternoon as she lost the battle against snake bite. They're out and about already.

I've just switched to Black Hawk and the dogs love it Big thumbs up on the excellent customer service too.

Thanks Christina, I know most vets are capable but not all vets are created equal, I've learnt that the hard way
